I was dubious at first because of the door you walk into seems like it is going to be a pub but when you get up the stairs it opens up into a brightly lit room with all glass siding looking over the river. Lovely glass terrace with views of castle. Interesting menu. Decent chips. Chips 10/10 (recommend twice cooked). The fish was a bit soggy in the middle and could have done with a few more minutes/ hotter oil. Prawns were okay -- the three sauces sounded amazing but underwhelming. Had hoped for flavour kick -- prawns were both over cooked (about to become rubbery & undercooked -- shell not crispy. I think the grill may not have been hot enough ? But tasty and enjoyed the fresh seafood quality Other tables ordered the wings & mussels-- looked yummy. Portions ample! Arrived to weird 5-10 min wait (despite reservation) between bar and terrace areas. Hostess eventually arrived. Husband had the beef box (similar to Irish Fries in Michigan but way better), I had the seafood pie. Then without having room left, we shared the sticky toffee pudding. First of all, the view from the dining room is beautiful. Our table was right against the window with a gorgeous view of the river and King John's Castle. We ordered the fish and chips and the beef box, and these two meals were by far the best that we had while on our trip in Ireland. The fish was fluffy and delicious, and the beef box had really great seasoning and tasty gravy. Service was good, and we were seated right away. The food and service were unreal! I carried my mother here for her 70th bday and it was such a treat! The cocktails were perfect! We ordered the crab claws and John Derry Josh special. And of course we finished with the sticky toffee pudding. It was all wonderful. read more

First off, the food was excellent. Taste, flavour and quality ingredients. Great views of king George castle. And a great view over the water. The service was incredibly terrible. We waited 20 mins to order. Our food came out on time. When we were done, 3 waitresses were just standing around, chatting amongst themselves. 25 mins we waited to order dessert and have our empty plates cleared. Four(4) waitresses were still chatting away in the corner while we waited for our check. Would of been a 4 or 5 star review but to average it out, I'd just give it a 2.... During our trip throughout Ireland, our group found the Curragower to be our favorite place to dine. Great and diverse menu items along with stunning river views, The Curragower was a perfect way to cap off a great day of sightseeing. After a day of castle exploring, our hungers had grown and we were desperate to eat an early dinner. Almost literally stumbling across the Curragower, we went into a quaint bar area to be seated. To our surprise, we were seated upstairs with an amazing view of the river. Our group quickly ordered some drinks to get started so we could really take the views in. Maybe we were just famished but the seafood chowder to start really hit home. Probably the best soup we had during the trip. For the mains, the fish and chips, mussels, and gnocchi were scarfed down and thoroughly enjoyed by all. It did appear we might have missed out on the wings?? We saw a bunch tables enjoying the hot wings so maybe they knew something we didn't. I can't recommend this place enough for any visitors to Limerick. All of us were able to find something we enjoyed, they had kids menus and crayons to keep the kids busy, and the staff were as friendly and patient. The upstairs dining area is under clear glass like an encased gardening house and is beautiful. From the outside it looks like your regular pub until you are lead upstairs to eat and it's like being transported into a magical other realm. Wonderful and friendly servers! Very knowledgeable on their selection of food and beverages. We had a large group of 14 people and they were able to accommodate us easily! We originally started out in the bar area where we took up 3 tables. We ended up staying through dinner service and the staff was kind enough to reseat us in the outdoor patio area. The food was delicious! Highly recommend the burger or wings. The calamari was decent but probably wouldn't get that again. Overall, great place with friendly staff! If you're able to be seated in the patio area, I highly recommend doing so as you'll get an amazing view of the water/castle. read more

I had the fish and chips and my wife had the steak box. The fish and chips were among the best I have ever had and my wife said the steak box was very delicious. Adored this gem of a place! The outdoor patio was perfect, with a spot on view of St. John's Castle which is lit up at night. There were twinkle lights strewn across cobblestoned walls. Heating lamps galore so even in the wind and rain it stayed warm. I had the chicken and waffles with corn butter and have to say they were probably the best I've ever had. Other people in my party got the wings and seafood chowder. They said the wings and seafood chowder were excellent and the chowder came with delicious Irish soda bread on the side. Came in a pot, more mussels than I have ever been served, and they were fantastic. My 15 y/o son had the calamari and chips and couldn't finish them because the serving was so generous. My husband and I were visiting Limerick from Missouri, USA. I'm glad we stumbled upon Curragower. The staff here was super friendly! They were not busy when we were here and were cleaning the place before the dinner rush. Everyone was so willing to talk to us about the area, the food, and the beer. We ended up ordering the seafood platter (for 2). I wish I would have ordered this just for myself instead of sharing. The platter came with seafood chowder (2 baby bowls of the best seafood chowder), 3 skewers of 3 grilled shrimp each covered with a sweet chili sauce, 2 healthy bread slices with smoked salmon on top, a huge bowl of garlic butter mussels, fried calamari rings, and fried shrimp.
