We cruised the Rhine with Viking from Basel to Amsterdam in mid September, 2022. This was the fulfillment of a plan we made in 2019 before the pandemic forced two postponements. We worked with Arthur Balin at The Cruise Web (www.cruiseweb.com) from the outset and are so glad we did. Arthur guided our rescheduling and was fantastic with follow-up and prompt answers to our questions. The planning and execution of the cruise from the Viking side also was superb. Airline arrangements were clearly communicated and aligned with our wishes. We made one schedule change online and received prompt confirmation. Everything connected with the cruise itself was first class. The longship Gymir was very well appointed, well staffed, comfortable and elegant. Our stateroom was modest in size, but it had a king size bed and accommodated our needs very well. The meals onboard offered good variety and were well prepared, well presented and very tasty. We went with the standard drink plan, with house wine and beer included with meals. This proved very satisfactory. We ordered an occasional cocktail and felt the quality and pricing were in line with expectations. We went on two shore excursion at every port, one free and one paid. All were informative, interesting and professionally guided. A few of the guides were truly outstanding, all were very good. Not a bad one in the lot. Overall, this was our first river cruise. We enjoyed it and would look forward to another cruise on a new itinerary that adds new experiences to our travels. read more

Since the coronavirus, all cruise ships in April are canceled and refunded except my mom only received a partial refund!!! Instead of getting the 700 dollars she paid, she was only received a refund of 500! I tried getting ahold of someone, but no one is answering their phone! I understand this is a difficult time, but I was told by Colleen that if a cruise company canceled the trip, we would be refunded 100%. That was a bogus lie. Do not book a cruise with them. Go directly to the source otherwise, you will be scammed out of your hard-earned money. read more

I have been using The Cruise Web for a few years now for my bookings. Previously I had gone direct to the cruise companies assuming I could take care of everything efficiently myself. For the last couple years I have used Senior Cruise Consultant Arthur Balin from the agency. I love him. He is really on top of things and has been a tremendous help to us and now also to friends to whom we recommended. In the process I also discovered how wrong I had been assuming I could do it all myself. He has access to things I would never see or know about. I typically call Arthur and give him a general idea of what I am thinking of. He takes it from there and in a timely manner sends me great suggestions with pros and cons of each choice. We have run the gamut from cruises more than a year in advance and as close as 10 days from sail date. No matter the lead time Arthur has come through with his ideas and suggestions -- all top notch. As we book more and more cruises with him he understands our likes and dislikes better and better. That has only helped him help us even more as he knows what will make us happy and what is the most important things to us. I think we are all unique in what we look for in our vacations and Arthur takes the time to LISTEN to his clients. Of course he has his ideas which is important, but he truly knows what he is selling and what is a good match. We have never been disappointed and doubt we will ever. Emailed questions and phone calls are answered timely no matter how mundane I'm sure some of the questions were. When we leave for our cruises we are prepared and know what to expect. When we return he calls within a couple days to get a full recap, -- good, bad, whatever. He wants to know how to take care of us even better and wants the feedback. I've had other Agents that booked a cruise, but that is all they really did, nothing more. I knew there must be more professional agents out there and Arthur Balin is that agent. I talked the owner of the company I work for into taking a cruise with her family and of course suggested she call Arthur. As expected he took great care of them and found things available that were not open to the public. He made me look good. He was also so appreciative that I had suggested him. How nice is it to have your business really appreciated and not taken for granted! In todays world, it is so hard to find professional people to work with no matter the product. I am thrilled that I found Arthur a few years ago and now know that I will get maximum value for my vacation money every time. I am semi retired and at this stage of my life it is even more important to take that vacation that you never had time for while deep into your work life. We have taken main stream cruises and this last one was one of the top of the market Regent Seven Seas cruise which for us was a very big stretch. Had it not been absolutely amazing it would have been a huge disappointment because of the added cost to move up to the pricier line. But instead we had the same belief that we got more than our money's worth thanks in large part to many emails and conversations with Arthur ahead of time deciding which line to choose. His knowledge of the market and of us made it work, I could not have done this alone and would not have felt comfortable spending the money with another agent who had not taken the time to really find out about us and what we liked and wanted. Arthur Balin is a pro and will be my cruise agent every time. I will not use anyone else. I have the best. I would give The Cruise Web 0/5 stars if I could. This was such a waste of time and money. We first reached out to a travel agent about a European cruise and I was contacted over the phone by travel agent Ellie. She gave us quotes over the phone for the trip and airfare and then sent a text with a few of the pricing details. After we agreed to the costs and paid a deposit through Ellie, we received an email invoice with the additional payments that would be due. I responded that the invoice was much higher than the prices I had been told over the phone and they responded that Ellie was " no longer with the company" and she only gave us a quote for a one way ticket from the US to Italy (obviously we discussed round trip flights and would expect to be flying home to the US) and she also "misquoted" us on the total price of the cruise. We decided to cancel because there was so much miscommunication, however we didn't receive any of the $1000 deposit back, despite having travel insurance and being promised we would receive a refund and travel credit. Please...Please read your contract carefully with the cruise web before you sign it. I don't care How long the contract is. We signed up for a group cruise and one person in our group paid for all deposits on her credit card and she signed the contract. Well....the fine print said if you cancel your cruise you will need to pay 15% of your cruise. Our total For 3 people was $3797.00. So 15% of almost $4,000 is a FEE $400.00. I've traveled a lot and never had to pay $400.00 canceling fee. I would suggest you book directly with the crusie line. Half of our group with with another travel agent because it was cheaper and the canceled and they were not charged ANY FEE. read more
