Fried Mushrooms!
Brad G.

We came back to The Crown to celebrate my 65th birthday and the experience was extraordinary! Tiffany was delightful as our server. Thursday night is when the locals come to play blue grass music so we wanted to be seated at the pavilion so we could enjoy the music. It was a perfect night to sit outside and listen to so much talent. And the food! They have a new Autumn menu and we all tried something different. I got the stuffed trout which was amazing, my husband ordered the pork chop which he devoured. The other two dishes ordered were the Masala and the chicken. We were all members of the clean plate club. We ordered the chocolate dessert and it was so good we ordered another! Out hostess and wait staff were delightful, amazing ambiance that is unmatched and the food stellar. This is my new favorite place. I cannot give it enough accolades

The Crown is a standout experience in the area. We enjoyed the beautiful relaxed setting of the pavilion, the live music and of course the wonderful food and drinks. This was my first time ordering the green curry ( with chicken) and it is now my favorite!

Our airbnb recommended we try The Crown during our stay. I'm so glad they did. The food was amazing, our server Emily was very friendly and informative about local places we might want to check out during our stay. I had the duck confit and my husband ordered the trout. I would definitely recommend both.

We were excited to try The Crown. We made a reservation, and were seated upon arrival. Then, The. Waiting. Began. We ordered two cocktails (one for each of us). We perused the menu after ordering, and then sat there. And sat there. And....sat there. Only one of the other booths was taken, so we were wondering as to why the delay. We managed to get our Server's attention as she was quickly trying to pass by our table. She commented "We only have one bartender". Okay....? We placed our appetizer and dinner orders. And we continued to....WAIT. The Server came over and told us "Sorry, but we only have one bartender". Okay.....weird. Approximately 30 minutes after ordering our cocktails, they finally arrived. When the server delivered them she informed us "We only have one bartender". We were not sure why she kept repeating this to us - did she forget that she had told us this already TWICE before? Then we waited for our starters and dinner. Same experience - the "WAIT". My Ravioli Fritti arrived, and it was DELECTABLE! Mushroom heaven! Our server advised us that if we wanted another cocktail we should order it right then, as "we only have one bartender". Sigh. We did order second cocktails as the first ones were very good. But then we....waited. I got up out of sheer boredom to check How busy the restaurant must be. Not. Two couples outside on the back patio. And by this time the other couple that had been in the "booth" section had finished and left. I came across a group of servers (perhaps five?) who were standing in another room and chatting. Well, if the drinks, appetizers and entrees weren't ready, what were they supposed to do, right? Entrees finally arrived. By this time I was full from the appetizer, so I asked for mine to be boxed. The server apologized that our drinks were still not ready. She added "we only have one bartender". Husband had the chicken with the square potato. He said it was good, "but nothing special...chicken and a square piece of potato". By this time we were REALLY frustrated with the long time we spent just waiting. I checked my watch - we had been there TWO hours. Ugh. Husband finished his entree, and we quickly asked for the bill as we had no idea how long THAT would take. Server said she would get it and return. She came back with our second cocktails. She apologized for the delay and commented "we only have one bartender". Okay, this was now ridiculous. The restaurant was fairly empty, and there were plenty of servers. If they "only have one bartender" and he/she is this backlogged, they should hire a SECOND bartender. HOW do they manage when they are BUSY? We heard a lot of speed racing outside, and thought it was teenagers bored on a weekend. Our server came over with our bill, and she told us "No, that is a local racetrack". Wow, that racetrack was super loud. We paid the bill and the server said "Sorry for all the delays, but we only have one bartender". Seriously? It was as if she was a recording...."enough already!". Our appetizer and entrees were also super delayed, and that was never explained. We just wanted to get out at this point. A very sad experience as while we did like the cocktails and ravioli, however we did NOT appreciate the insane WAITS...for everything! The racetrack became busier, and even MORE loud, so we left. On our way out we noticed (again) that the restaurant was NOT busy. The group of servers were again standing in a circle chatting with each other. Frustrating night as the food was GOOD, the cocktails were GOOD, but we were now at 2 1/2 hours since we had been seated, and we wanted "outta there". We left, and the sounds of the racetrack were REALLY loud. Some people were eating outside in front of the restaurant - we don't know how they could hear each other with the loud roaring sounds of racing cars! We both agreed that we won't be returning. Sad, as the mushroom appetizer and my husband's entree were good, but WHY were we subjected to SUCH long waits?! That was so weird, and frustrating. And that racetrack ruins the lovely peace of the location where the restaurant is located.

Our first visit did not disappoint! We were seated promptly in the comfortable and cozy dining…read moreroom. The ambiance was just right. We ordered the bread service and a nice bottle of wine. My wife had the veal Marsala, and I had the delicious pasta pistachio. Both were excellent! We wanted to try the gelato but were too full!

Once you go up the stairs, you can see this is an upscale establishment. There's a nice bar area, piano playing and well around 10-15 tables. The interior is quite nice, though it's a bit bright inside for fine dining. We sat at the bar and had great service all night. Drinks were well made with quality ingredients. One strange thing... the kitchen is at the end of the bar and avail for all to see. While this is a positive, it's a bit small and I question how it'll scale if the restaurant was full. Of note, the dish cleaning area is next to the kitchen - also in the open and is a bit noisy. Not a huge deal, but worth a mention. To the food - we had 2 pasta dishes, the Carbonara and Pistachio pasta. The Carbonara was good, but the Pistachio dish was amazing. The menu did a poor job of explaining what's in the dish, but the staff was able to fill us in. It was a cream sauce with sautéed onions, prosciutto and crushed Pistachios. The flavor was fantastic. The wine list is pretty basic with few red options. This area needs some work. They should also allow a corkage fee to permit folks to bring higher end wine. The folks next to us had the Bruschetta and Lasagne and said both were great. Nice new addition to Murphy that will only keep getting better as they work out the kinks.

Shrimp and Grits? Three times, even better than some coastal restaurants. Grilled Salmon? A big 10 for the table. Deserts good, Bread Pudding (in GA?) large and spot on. I could go on. Oh, good wine list and bar. This location has been several things over the past 40 years and I have experienced most of them. We stopped considering it due to the instability/inconsistencies. This time, everything is grade A and has been consistently excellent on six different occasions over two years. Food quality and prep is now superb. Dinners are special and I am not sure it is the same kitchen of crew for lunches. The restaurant is housed in The Ridges which has a hotel that requires 3 meals per day. We travel the Southeast regularly and get to try Hotels and Restaurants along the way. Coming from the New Orleans and Tampa areas, we usually have high expectations for a restaurant.

For starters, the chef sent out a wonderful spinach artichoke pastry app. We shared a Farmhouse Salad, and changed out the goat cheese to Blue cheese. For dinner, our server suggested Halibut and Short Ribs, so that is what we ordered. There was no rush and we enjoyed some wonderful tasting food!. Our service was perfect. Not rushed and there when we need her. The ambiance was supper club sophistication but with a casual vibe. It was so good, we plan to go back tomorrow night also!!
