Open face hot beef sandwich, mashed potatoes and a vegetable and salad. $9.99.

I travel a lot and I really like to check out these small diners in these little towns and I must say this is as good a one as I've ever ate it. I ordered the open face hot beef sandwich $9.99. It came with mashed potatoes and a vegetable (I chose hominy) and a salad my helper ordered a double cheeseburger with fries $10.99. I must say I hope you're hungry because these are some large portions. The inside was clean and the staff was friendly everything was promptly delivered to the table and overall it was a very good experience. I will definitely be coming back here whenever I'm in the area.

When you drive through a small town like Welch, there's not a whole lot going on. So when you see a lot of cars parked out front of a restaurant, it doesn't necessarily mean it's gonna be good. But in this case, it definitely does. Everyone was friendly, my food was amazing, and I can't wait to go back! I recommend the "Bought The Farm" burger, a classic bacon cheeseburger with a fried egg. And the homemade chips are like the spiral cut spuds that you get at the fair. All in all, a wonderful place at any location, but especially in Welch, where your options are limited.

    I highly recommend this restaurant.

The interior is wonderfully decorated. The food is very good. Thank you Wesley for being such a kind server. We really enjoyed our stop at this restaurant during our travels.

Huge portions of great food... It's all good & the deserts are awesome!

The portions are large. And battered onion rings are awesome. We had steaks and pork chops. Both were cooked just to our order and delicious. In house deserts are as tasty as they are pretty.

Good stop along Historic Route 66. To be fair, the name grabbed my attention. Located in a newer…read morearea of town, near Harbour freight, there is plenty of parking around the building. Seat yourself, a waitress quickly stopped by with menus and took a drink order. The menu is pretty big and includes breakfast and a kids menu. I ordered hot tea and am so happy to have received a cup of tea with a pot of tea back-up! Yes, all the tea please. The lemons on the side added to my tea joy. It's the small things. My SO ordered himself an open faced roastbeef sandwich. This is shredded roast on top of a sweet roll smothered in gravy with a side of mashed potato. He certainly ate it like it was tasty. (I did confirm - it is tasty.) I went with an a la carte breakfast of two eggs and one pancake. The pancake had a slightly sweet taste and is fluffy. The eggs were cooked perfectly 'over easy'. You can tell they are cooked as eggs should be over a low heat - no scorch marks on the outer edge. Bathrooms are in the back left corner and are cleanest where it matters most. Diaper station in the ladies room. During our visit many of the guests knew each other and chatted amongst themselves. All the staff we came in contact with were friendly. They kept a close eye on all the guests making sure everyone had everything they needed. All together a good stop.

I was really excited to try this restaurant so am now very sad to say that I can only give them…read morethree stars and I feel like that's being generous. Let's dig in... First I'll say that I had studied the menu posted on here and when we got there it has changed so I will post the updated menu. We started with the calamari. On the old menu it came with marinara, spinach and peppadew peppers. Sounded fantastic! New menu came with marinara and cherry peppers. Eh, not as exciting but we went ahead with it. What came out was so disappointing! There is a photo here on yelp of a ribeye steak with a basket of calamari in the background that looks really good. What we got was completely different. Pre-breaded frozen rings in a heavy, flavorless batter. They were greasy and there were no cherry peppers or garnish of any kind. The marinara was bleh and sweet. No amount of salt helped either the marinara or the calamari. The dish was in serious need of some acid to cut through all the grease, batter and sweet marinara so I asked for some lemon wedges. They were out of lemons. Next should have been the salad but it came out with the meal instead. That always irks me. Anyway I had gone with the wedge because photos of the house and caesar salads looked pretty boring. The wedge was delicious. A little bit more dressing would have been great but the blue cheese crumbles, jam and tomatoes were on point and the lettuce was crisp and refreshing. Then the entree. Old menu had a 16 oz ribeye for $40, now they offer a 14 oz for $50. Again, I went ahead with it. The farm-to-table beef was what brought us in. I ordered medium rare and felt like it was just barely there, maybe that was just tonight or maybe that's how they always do it, IDK. It was tender, juicy and had great beef flavor, the rancher that raised it did a great job. The cook? Not so much. It needed salt, in fact I don't think there was any seasoning on it at all from the kitchen. I'm a steak purist but a little salt and pepper go a long way and a pat of butter on top really sets it off. Some of the photos here on yelp show beautiful steaks with butter and chives on top. This was just steak. Excellent quality, poor execution. Now let's talk about the side dish. The menu said "roasted corn with bacon, onions, cream and parmesan". Sounds fantastic, right? I can see an image of it in my head and almost taste it! What I got though was absolutely gross and they should have been embarrassed to serve. I guess it was canned corn because frozen should have tasted fresher. It was NOT roasted. The kernels were tough and starchy like field corn, not sweet corn. There were no onions and no parmesan but it was floating in some milk or half and half, I couldn't tell which. Not cream. And it had some bacon in there which was what I picked out and ate because it was the only edible part of the dish. Last was dessert. I was dying to try the ooey gooey butter cake but alas, that was on the old menu, not this one. So we settled for carrot cake. It was a big serving and it tasted fine but it was just a standard bakery cake. It was garnished with whipped cream and caramel which I felt was out of place but hubby liked. The cream cheese frosting was good and there was lots of carrot and raisins in it. Overall the entire meal was just a big "miss" for both of us. Our server was nice and the rest of the staff as well. The place was nicely decorated and had a great deck out back. But when we heard farm-to-table beef I guess we envisioned more than grocery store frozen calamari, nasty corn and basic bakery cake. Even the steak although of excellent quality was lacking, due to under seasoning and under cooking it. The entire experience was just a big disappointment unfortunately. I hope it was an off night for them but we won't be back to find out.
