More favorite stocking stuffers in store just today!! This is my very favorite time to #getlostindiana at The Container Store because it is so much more than a box store! Need a gadget that helps distract your dog while you give it a bath? Check! Looking for a little girly glitter pen? Check! How about dinosaur gift wrap with matching wrap accessories? Yep. The Container Store has that, too!

The concept: organize your abundance of crap by purchasing more crap. Okay, I know I'm being cynical but you have to laugh at some of the "organizational" products The Container Store sells.... Why, yes, this is a box to store your extra buttons that you'll never use again and it goes on top of the mini box of trinket organizers. Some of the prices seemed over the top given the Ikea feel of the product. My visit ended with no purchases but I will admit that I walked away with a new idea to make extra-storage in my wee kitchen.

I dunno: I'm a sucker for the Container Store. Sure it's expensive, and yes you're buying more stuff to organize the stuff you already have. But it's comforting to walk down aisles of glass jars and wicker baskets, all shiny and new and just waiting to be purchased and used as vessels for your junk. If I had a lot of money, I'd try out all of the laundry products the Container Store has for sale. They sell laundry detergent here that I've never even heard of before, in pretty glass jars labeled with French words. They make my family-size jugs of Tide look downright pedestrian. (By the way: They don't sell Tide here. Please. Are you kidding me? Where do you think you are: Costco?) One thing that surprised me was the variety of moving and packing supplies this location carries. These are located all the way in the farthest back corner. Everything from packing tape to bubble wrap to boxes of many sizes. Also, no less than four associates greeted me as I walked around the store. It's very nice and welcoming here.

My friend and I were shopping tonight (Saturday), minding our business making our way to the front as it was obviously closing soon (announcement was made at 845). There were 2 people in line at the register and it was still before 9 when Peggy approached us and said, "Is there anything I can help you with to end our night?" She said "to end our night" meaning she wanted us to leave so she could go home. She approached us again a few minutes later and asked us to leave because the store, "is now closed." It was 903 when we walked out, plus another 2 minutes by the time someone opened the door to let us out. I have never been asked to leave a store. I get that people want to go home but I wasn't in the back of the store or staying 15 minutes past closing. Peggy's comments were uncalled for and rude. There are so many more professional ways to ask people to leave (i.e. We have to close our registers, do you have any final purchases? I'm sorry but we're closing if you have any final purchases.). Peggy's attitude just ruined the entire experience of shopping here.

Broad Ripple

I stopped by Foundry 317 during a recent jaunt through Broad Ripple during unseasonably warm temps…read more I parked my car and just enjoyed wheeling around the area for a bit. Foundry 317 is along the canal right on Westfield Boulevard. Foundry 317 focuses on home decor and furniture. I clearly arrived right at the tail-end of the holiday season and a good number of the items either had a holiday theme or fit within the holiday season. Items included antiques, one-of-a-kind furniture pieces, festive accents, candles, and other overall housing items. Foundry 317 has a parking lot, though I was actually wheeling there. There's a small ramp up to the sidewalk if you approach it from the right (facing Foundry 317). The doorway is pretty workable and I found the interior to be surprisingly accessible (though I will admit I was taking extra caution given some of the prices!). As I was wheeling, I knew it was pretty unlikely I'd actually buy anything on this visit as it would have been difficult to carry back to my car. However, I definitely saw some items I loved and can easily see myself returning in the near future. The employee I encountered was friendly, the environment was warm and inviting, and I really loved some of the smaller items. I'm a candle freak and definitely would like to return for those. I've always found this section of Westfield Blvd. a little hit-and-miss. The sidewalk is kind of cracked and it's somewhat uneven, however, there's much to love here and I loved the efforts toward accessibility. This is definitely a little gem. I'd seen it before, however, I've never been by when they were open. I finally got the chance to visit, and I'm definitely impressed. I'll be back.

If you're in Broad Ripple looking for the perfect accessory for your home, THIS is the place! Need a gift? They have so many great items that would be perfect for gift giving, ANY occasion. It's my favorite!
