Quite possibly my favorite coffee shop in Lincoln. Walking distance from campus and settled downtown, it's quick and easy to get to and has some of the best coffee around. I started on the granitas but now my favorite is the Iced Chocolate Milano Notaccino (which is similar to a frappe that tastes like Milano cookies)! The best vibes in a coffee shop in downtown Lincoln - the back room is perfect for studying in a more quiet setting and the front has a much of tables for independent work or chatting with friends. The service is always super quick so even if you've got 10 minutes to get in and out you should be good. read more

I was able to get a vegan GF brownie which was good. A relatively big slice as well. (check in and get a free dessert!). The other items on the menu look good as well, but I came here 2 times and both times it was after lunch.. Environment Decently sized place with a lot of seating available inside. Walk in and smell the coffee. Quite enough you can work inside for a bit, didn't take note if there were charging outlets for you to work there forever.. (8 hours...). I love coming here! The coffee is always delicious but a few months ago I stopped coming because my espresso was always burnt. I will say today, the guy behind the counter with the shaggy hair and cool jewelry made my coffee and not only was it wonderful but he was super nice too! There's a blonde with glasses that makes my coffee sometimes too and she's the same. I love to see the two of them when I walk in, especially because I come closer to closing and later in the day and it's only expected for them to be a little tired, but they're always wonderful. read more

The only place to get a "Cromlette" that I know of. An omelette baked into a croissant and the best breakfast you've ever had. We got to Lincoln a little earlier than we'd planned, so decided to pick a place at random to kill some time. We ended up downtown and stopped at The Coffee House because it happened to have a perfect parking spot available. There are a lot of seating options in this oddly-arranged place. Funniest part is, to order you stand in line in what I believe to be the narrowest part of the whole building while behind you is the coffee-fixins bar. So, you're trying to pay attention to your order taker and get your stuff while being slammed by people who already have their stuff and are trying to get their milk and sugar. It's kind of like a coffee house mosh pit. We found a seat in a back area. Our table rocked pretty bad, but since we were only going to be there 15 minutes or so, we hung on tight. We ordered a couple of their Cromlettes, a filled croissant. One was sausage, egg & cheese, the other was peach cream cheese. I'm not really someone who orders croissants, but they seemed like a novelty item. They were actually quite good. There were some herbs and spices on top of the savory one that were a little too strong (in my opinion), but that could be easily brushed off. It's a pretty part of town. I'd recommend it for a try, especially if you're into local coffee spots. read more

This was an unexpected gem of a find in Lincoln. You walk in and you forget you're in Nebraska. It's bigger than you first expect as well. Friendly workers. I ordered a medium iced Voltaire & used my check in on Yelp for a free pastry item. I chose the sour cream coffee cake - this is where it went from 5 stars to 3 stars.... the first few bites were yummy and moist and full of flavor. I broke off a top piece and there is mold along the edge (photo attached for reference). Fingers crossed nothing happens. I'm an optimist and this stuff happens so I am still giving a decent review. The Voltaire was very sweet & mocha tasting. Make sure you like that before ordering. I did enjoy it. read more

I've been coming here for about 2 years now. I love this place. It's well lit from the open front window that is decorated with plants. You can go to the back if you want a more private and quiet place to sit. They have a great selection of brews and often have a flavored roasts. The syrup selection is large! Plenty of milk options as well. They are popular for their "cromlettes", I'd recommend the feta and spinach but you can't go wrong with any flavor. I'd also recommend their homemade parfait. It was quiet on a Monday morning, with fast service. Their Colombian roast was delicious, but the star of the show was the cromlettes. The smoked Gouda and the feta and cheese cromlettes were both divine, and I'm usually not an omelette person. LOVE!!! I stayed in Lincoln for work for a week and wish I would've stumbled upon this place sooner. They have a nice option of sweet and savory items. I don't drink milk and they had all non-dairy options, which was a pleasant surprise. We went 5 days in a row for breakfast. Their breakfast Bierocks are super yummy! They have really nice herbs on top and best part is they are their grandmas recipe...you can taste the love that goes into their food. I'm from Germany and very picky with any pastries/bread, but they are so good that I bought extra to go. Owner was also super nice to chat with. Homey space that is deceptively large - there's a hall passageway to a large back room. Coffee is reliable and lattes are made with care. Also on the menu: yogurt parfaits, muffins and croissants with goodies like feta/egg/spinach and Gouda/egg/sausage baked into them. If you need a charge, look under the benches on the east wall of the main room or along the walls on the south and west. Front room is south-facing and sunny, furniture is pleasantly worn. A recent redecorating job made the space brighter in an inviting way. Noise levels are moderate and appropriate for the space. read more

We discovered this shop on a whim while visiting Lincoln. The Coffee House is by far the best coffee shop I've ever been in. Everyone was very friendly, there is more than ample room to sit, the latte' was the best we've ever had and the cromelette's...my gawd the cromelette's; flaky, filling and dee-lish-ush. Even our 14 and 11 year old loved the shop. While sitting at a table we said to each other, "we wish we had a Coffee House by us." What a cute, rustic coffeeshop with great coffee and food! Coffee: I ordered the Silky Jazz dark roast, which wasn't as rich and dark as I expected it to be, but still really high quality coffee. I would like to try some of the other roasts, because it is hard to extract the real flavor of the bean in dark roasts. However, dark roasts hold the risk of becoming overly bitter of charred, but this drink had a nice balance of flavor and depth, though it did have a tiny bit of a bitter aftertaste. Food: I ordered the vegan chocolate raspberry muffin and it was delicious. It seemed freshly baked with an amazing texture and flavor. The raspberry filling was also a great complement and tied the whole dish together. Ambiance: This is a great place to study (there's free wifi!) and it's just a quick walk from UNL. It's also very spacious and doesn't seem overly crowded or crammed. Since this was my first time here, I had a bit of trouble trying to find how to get in, but you just go into the outer door that looks like it's for Bison Witches from P St, then enter the inner door on the right. Price: I thought it was quite reasonably priced. My coffee and muffin costed a total of less than $5, so I was quite pleased with that. Overall, an awesome coffeehouse and I plan to come here several more times this summer! read more
