We tried this place for the first time yesterday.. simply amazing!! I tried the snickers espresso and my husband tried the California espresso, both were sooo good. One sip and you're hooked, never going back to Starbucks. Today we tried the Kona blend and the Hawaiian hazelnut, and again delicious! Sundays are Coffee Break *aka* Tea time for my GP group. Its when all the women in my group get together catch up and enjoy a few moments of solitude away from the grinds of running the home, work, kids, or hubbies. Its always one of my favorite times of the week. Coffee Corner is our favorite meeting location and we usually take up the couch for a few good hours. Most of the time closing the place down at noon. Although at times we've talked about how nice it would be they were open later and in the evenings, the noon closing time on Sundays guarantees that we all go about our life again. I don't know much about the coffee but I can tell you that the any of the chai teas are AWESOME!! my fave is a spiced chi tea cold blended with soy milk. mmmm, my mouth is watering thinking about it. Love this place!! I have been a regular customer here for at least six years and can't believe I've never rated it??!!! The baristas are always so friendly and memorize your order and get it right every time. The husband and wife owners are awesome people and have made this coffee shop into an "at home" feeling every time I visit. I have had numerous different teas here and made different ways and have never had a bad experience. I don't drink coffee, but my friends and family that visit with me always comment how good it is. This coffee shop changed my life. I was running late, so I went to the drive thru. Ordered my Americano with caramel which was delicious! The server was so kind and helpful too! My Funky Monkey Coffee was fabulous ... I am from out of town and have never experienced an Acai bowl ... These things are great! I have to have another before I leave. They have a drive-through which is imperative during the morning and when having kids in the car. They should consider installing a menu board outside. The coffee is good, though I have only had their lattes. From what I have seen of their food display, it seems like much of it comes from Costco. I was sent on an errand to this place to pick up a frozen drink. I myself am not a coffee or caffeine person, but since I was at this wonderfully decorated coffee nook I would try something. I let the gal know I didn't like coffee and she suggested anything from the signature drink menu. I choose the Cali in the hot form (I have no idea was in it) and I DESTROYED it. This was an incredible beverage. I've tried several different drinks from here & I have never been disappointed (unlike some big chains). By far my favorite is the California Espresso, I've had it hot & iced. Ordered coffee from two female employees that were very nice. Went over to where coffee was to be picked up, and there was one coffee waiting to be picked up. I asked the blond male employee (Possibly the owner) if that was my coffee. He picked it up, looked at it, and was not sure who it belonged to, since they do not put names on it. He picked up the coffee with his hand at the part of the lid where one puts there mouth when they drink it. He told me it was my coffee and handed it to me. I asked him for another lid, and he looked at me like he did not understand why I was asking for another lid. I told him he put his hand on the part of the lid where I would be putting my mouth when I would drink it. He replied, "No I didn't". I was thinking, "Okay, a person who is not aware of his actions." He handed me the new lid. Maybe he really was not aware of what he did and truly believed he did not touch the top of the lid with his hand. It's concerning because if he is not aware that he did that, I have to wonder what other unsanitary health practices are going on in that food establishment. I would encourage this individual to be more aware of his actions and make this coffee shop a healthier place for his customers. This was my first and last visit at this coffee shop. I don't like when I see someone do something and then tell me they did not do it, especially when it is related to health. The only reason I gave this place two stars in my review is because of how nice the two girls at the cash register were. read more

I gave two stars because the coffee when made properly is good. I've been coming to this place for years. At one point it was called Grindz. Since then it has had a couple of owner changes. Unfortunately, with the changes the service changed as well. Yesterday (07/08/14) I ordered a coffee through the drive thru. (Which is horrible by the way. I'm going to assume they do not have any type of alerting system that lets you know there is someone in the drive thru. I had to do that fake cough move to get the owners attention, which was just standing there; watching TV might I add.) So, I order my usual white chocolate mocha-hot. As I'm driving away I let it sit for a few minutes because I don't want to shock my senses or burn my tongue with the heat. When I finally take a drink I'm like 10 minutes away from Santee. Half way to work which is in Clairemont Mesa. THIS DRINK WAS THE WORST I HAD EVER HAD FROM ANY BARISTA, EVER!! The guy had to be hung over (speculation) it literally tasted like I poured the white chocolate powder down my throat with no liquid. It was atrocious!! I was half way to work at this time and not going to turn around to replace the coffee. I attempted calling the place when I arrived at work to let him know of my discontent, but the phone number when you google the place was incorrect. I tried going after work but the place closes at noon. I ended up throwing the coffee out and hoping I could just let the manager know of my bad experience the next day, get a replacement coffee, brush it under the rug and I would continue being a loyal customer. The following morning: I actually come into the shop because the drive thru like most days is not open as soon as the rest of the store does apparently. (It's hit or miss with the drive thru's reliability if you haven't noticed by now.) I enter with the same mindset as that of the day before. The owner knows im a longtime customer, I'll get a replacement, BS a little, no harm no foul. Our conversation,"Good morning, Just dropping by to see if I can get a replacement coffee. Yesterday morning I had to throw out the one I bought because it was made with way too much powder." His reply, "We dont do that here, we make $300 in sales a day, If you'd of brought it back yesterday after you bought it I might have done something." I replied,"I couldn't have brought it back because I was half way to work when I realized it was bad. I tried stopping after but you were closed" Owner: "sorry" Me: "I thought I'd give you a chance to make a mistake right" Owner:"sorry man" Now this is my venting to the owner which I hope reads this. 1. I dont care how much you make in sales a day. 2. You're business hours are from 6 to noon. Even if I had tried to go during my lunch break I couldn't have been there on time to return the coffee. If you only make $300 in sales. Why are you only open for 6 hours a day? Doesn't add up. 3. I believe in mom and pop shops. I try to stay as far away from big name places like starbucks, target, etc....Unfortunately, the only place to get a good coffee with a guarantee or your money back is starbucks. A Wonderful coffee shop serving delicious coffee. My favorite is the Cuban shots! Mostly I get my espresso shots from starbucks & either it has a slightly burnt or bitter & Ive grown accustomed to it but then I tried the Cuban espresso from here & its already slightly sweet and i love the taste. The downside is that they are only open in the mornings & they don't have a menu available for drive thru patrons. They have a plethora of items on their menu and I'm excited to try other drinks that they offer. read more

Here's a place that offers delightful service, delicious drinks, and wonderful ambiance. The staff quickly learns the regulars' 'usuals' and are happy to provide. New and regular faces alike are greeted like old friends by both staff and patrons. Coffee has a smooth balance of flavors. I appreciate a place that offers alternatives to cow's milk but isn't limited to the carcinogenic soy. The owners are wonderful people who are incredibly supportive of the community. It's not unusual to see teens/college students in Bible study or academic study groups, knitting groups, and even the occasional music performance. Cutest little coffee gem hidden a bit inland off the freeways! Really impressed with their creative variety and options! Flavored Sugar free sweeteners (coconut, hazelnut, mint.. etc) AND alternative milks (rice, almond, soy) YUM!
