The employees at this Coffee Bean have always been among the friendliest humans alive, and they work very hard to keep the place clean and running smoothly. In a location with an ever-shifting number of street people who may occasionally cause grief, all condiments are kept behind the counter, which needles the personal customization experience a touch (though it's understandable). Coffee here (which I always get iced) is robustly flavored without being bitter. Though I'm not the kind of aficionado others may claim to be, even I can appreciate this Java is far better than what's being served at Starbucks. However, food items are lagging far behind. The Cheddar & Jalapeño Croissant, previously pretty well-packed with cheese and peppers and sporting a goodly hit of heat, has been revamped and replaced by a dry, very mass-produced crescent with hardly any cheese or peppers, and no spice; really, barely any flavor at all, spicy or not. Other breakfast items on display failed to ignite much of a spark in me, and their version of a McMuffin looked especially unappealing in its display case packaging. So, the food is a bit of a bust, but the coffee is top notch, and the cafe areas are comfortable and well lit. Add in the free WiFi, and this is a good place to relax, chat with friends, watch a game or do some work. This location specifically is not bad, it's your run of the mill CBTL. The inside is small and clean, and there's plenty of outdoor seating and parking. My issue is probably with all Coffee Beans I visit in general. First off, prices have gone way up since I was consistently ordering last year and before. Maybe it's because of tariffs but IDK. $6-7 for a cold brew is wild. And in terms of the quality of a Caramel Cold Brew (with cream cap), I might as well go to Dunkin Donuts. Not only did another location and maybe all Coffee Beans I've gone to let me down in this regard, but DANG do they overdo it with syrups. Maybe the regular customer base CRAVES that over sweetened diabetic cocktail of more sugar and milk than actual coffee, but cmon! Can employees prioritize the coffee unless otherwise stated? Why are we defaulting to dumping sweeteners in peoples' drinks? Some of us are healthy or trying to be. I even NOTED "less syrup please" since there was no option to do half syrup, not like it probably would have mattered anyways. I believe this is an overall issue with the company and maybe training protocols. I don't remember it being this way in the past! Is CBTL going downhill?? Note my image. But in general, the atmosphere there is better than a Starbucks. I went this location to buy gift cards for coworkers. They ran out of gift sleeves. However, if you buy five $5.00 ones, or in multiples of $25, they give you a $5 complimentary gift card. My coworkers probably like this place more than I do, so I thought gift cards would be a good idea, instead of buying them the proverbial Starbucks cards. read more

I love coffee bean but the service wasn't pleasant.. we arrived 30 minutes before close, they said we couldn't use their restroom because they closed it down since they just finished mopping. I get it you wanna close and go . Next we place an order, and asked for two croissants double toasted plus our drinks . As the guy was about to toast our breads he said that the oven was down .. which looked like they just cleaned it for closing purposes again ..Why didn't he informed us of that previously ? Overall bad experience. Came here a Sunday morning. Drink was messed up so they remade it. My avocado toast had an insane amount of salty seasoning, was not able to eat that. Before leaving i tried to use the restroom, no toilet paper, no seat covers, no paper towels nothing. I was craving something warm after a long chilly hike and decided to pop inside! Now keep the mind. I don't usually come to any coffee spots just because of how high the prices are. But I decided to give this place a chance. I ordered a hot Cocoa with whipped cream and Carmel. And my friend got the vanilla latte. The Coco was very tasty and have the right amount of sweetness. But I do think it could have had a deeper chocolate taste. It was also five dollars so I expected a little bit more for that price. The bathroom was cold only and inside. It was all right, but not the cleanest I could have been. It's a nice place to sit down and have a relaxing drink. But the prices are sky high. I worked as a barista for Starschmucks Coffee for about 6 years, and am a SoCal transplant so I'm primed for other coffee competitors, such as my NorCal faves - Philz & Blue Bottle Coffee. BUT... I definitely appreciate the variety Coffee Bean has to offer - such as their Vietnamese-inspired Vietnamese cold brew latte!? Stopped here after my appointment at The Vivid Salon (see my review for the lash lift I got there) for a caffeine fix, and the Vietnamese cold brew latte hit the spot! Also nearby is Patch Tattoo Therapy - appointment only - featured in my reviews for my first ever tattoo! I also ordered a Mango cold brew tea to bring home to my boyfriend, which he enjoyed as well, but likely would have requested less sugar if we knew it came pretty sweet. The staff greeted me upon arrival and my drinks were ready in no time. Docked a star because the cafe wasn't too busy, and some of the tables looked like they needed a wipe down. Except today when I overheard Mia and Emma made a side comment about me and my order which pissed me off. They didn't know I overheard them. I spend minimum $600 monthly at this store for years. So happy our CBTL Tarzana CA is still going strong! We have been visiting for over 25 years and they are by far the best place offering the OG Ice Blended, (vanilla is my favorite). This location remains after several locations have closed, they were purchased several years ago and have closed serval locations that were not performing well and had expensive leases. The service is always great and they have a good selection of bakery items. You can order on the app.,go in and out and on your way! Gaby is the epitome of what a general manager should be! Coffee Bean needs to give her a raise! I am a daily customer; their ice blended is my one vice! Gaby does a great job leading the staff, the whole team is friendly! I will say the property owner needs to spend a few more bucks keeping the outdoor area cleaned up and the trash cans emptied. I went in today around 530ish and said hello and the barista didn't even say hello, I ordered my drink and she looked so bothered that I went in for a drink. So then she goes to make my drink which was a vanilla blended drink with whip cream . Then she takes a while to give me my drink since she was talking to the other female barista. Basically taking her time to finish her chatting with the other barista.she finally gives me my drink which had no whip cream so I let her know i asked for whipped cream she takes it back and puts the whip cream to the point that the whip cream spills on the counter . I say thank you to her and she walks away . So I came back because my drink did not have no vanilla flavor powder and I let her know and she got the drink and looked upset so then she remakes it and puts in on the counter and I say thank you and she walked away . Today I went walking with my grandmother who we've recently moved to a memory care home near your store on 18505 Ventura Blvd, Tarzana, California, 91356. She seemed excited to stop, even though she admitted she didn't need another coffee and I said I'd be happy to go. She has dementia and aphasia and has been very very down about her move. When she got in line she started dancing to her own little jingle and when it was our turn I looked up and saw that your lovely barista Denise was already dancing back and high fiving her. I haven't seen her light up so much in a month. Denise didn't ask questions about my grans quirky commentary or dancing, she knew her order and exclaimed the visit had made her day. And I can tell you that from what I saw, Denise makes my grandmothers day whenever she sees her. She has been severely depressed due to her loss of a grasp on her thoughts and lack of ability to express herself, and seeing this exchange this afternoon had me struggling to hold back tears of gratitude for Denise's kindness and warm heart. She absolutely deserves commendation for her wonderful attitude and making your customers feel so welcome and special. read more
