    Matcha Tea

We stopped in on our way home from the beach. The staff was friendly and super helpful with their suggestions. I ended up getting the Matcha Tea. It hit the spot after spending the afternoon at the beach. I love the setup and you can forget that they are connected to Foodland. If you want a frozen treat after the beach, I highly recommend you stop here.

Fave coffee. Forget Starbucks! This is where it's at. Best matcha iced latte add 2 (or 3 depending on the day) shots of espresso. Turkey pesto sandwich or chocolate croissant. The ladies working here are always so fast AND sweet. Never got my order wrong once and they stay busy in the morning.

Ordered a triple shot vanilla breve. Nasty! Overly sweet bitter

So...... first time trying this coffee. Totally dont get the hype!? I watched her make it and I have 3 words for you!!!!!! QUALITY OVER QUANTITY ! Slow the eff down and do it right. Taste like way overly sweet! And bitter! I asked at the register for it to be hot. The barista was givin a HOT cup. She then asked me if I wanted the milk cold or steamed hot..... ummm ‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍

Treat yourself to a refreshing coffee drink and cheerful service at this CBTL location in the Kailua Foodland. Check IG or sign up for their emails to get special offers on Monday, Thursday, or special occasions and holidays. Those concerned with sugar levels may request lighter or no added sweetening and no whipped cream.

This place offers a huge variety of items as you can see to go along with morning drink from latte to ice coffee and sandwiches and cookies very friendly service and clean shop check it out

2/3rds cup of light ice. Horrible! More ice then drink.

How many of you have asked for light ice and gotten 2/3rds cup of ice? C'mon workers, you can do better than this! From now on, no tip until I get my drink right. If I wanted shave ice, I would've gone down the road to Island Snow.

Using a gift card in Kailua, Oahu, Hawaii... Staying home during this quarantine period has resulted in some benefits. For example, I had time to go through my piles of mail and I found a gift card from my friend, Craig Y. LOL! Belated thank you, Craig! So, before I lose it or forget about it, I took my gift card to the nearest The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf which is in Kailua. I read reviews which informed me that this shop is located inside of Foodland (next to Big City Diner) - to the immediate left of the entrance. I had been to The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf in Los Angeles because they were having a special $3 blended drink. Lyla encouraged me to get the app which I used there. I thought that I could use the app here in Kailua. However, this store doesn't participate in that program. Instead, I was offered a stamp card. Also, the $3 blended drink is only available on Thursdays. Hmmm... I didn't read that in the email... So - I ordered a Blood Orange Brew Tea and an Avocado Toast. I really liked both items! The tea was fruity and not too sweet! I didn't think that I would like the sprouts on the Avocado Toast, but they worked! It was a yummy lunch! Maybe I'll try a different location that participates with the app. Or - maybe I'll return and just use the stamp card...because it expires on 12.31.20... Thanks again, Craig, for getting me to try a different place - and for the fun foodie adventure!

As much as I love Starbucks, my other love is The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. My two favorite drinks are the peach jasmine cold brew tea and the mocha ice blended, add extra shot of espresso. I don't get coffee or tea drinks very often, maybe once every two weeks, so when I do it better be good! Lol. The Kailua location is great and the workers are very nice. Drinks are constantly good.

Had an early start out in Kailua this morning and had to kill time. Was happy to see the Kailua store was near by and decided to start my day with coffee here, since a morning without coffee is a terrible idea! The store was super clean, the staff was nice and attentive, and I was very impressed overall. A long time ago I had the opportunity to work at several locations, so I understand the complexity of running the shop, especially after the morning rush. The some of the ones in town have a lot to learn from this store. Kudos to this store, their staff, and their management. They are a model store, and truly exemplified the values of the Sullivan family

    Hazelnut iced coffee
    Lurine J.

Aweosme little treat! I landed on the hazelnut iced coffee and it was really good the young ladies behind the counter were super funny and made our drinks quick! Normally in the morning when you think of coffee it's either Starbucks or perhaps morning crew which is a little further down the way my husband decided to turn to YELP!! Per usual we were steered RIGHT! Will definitely be back!

You can tell they emphasize on the craft here. There's so much care that's put into it so if you're in a rush I would say this isn't the place for you. I thought it was excellent, not very sweet but not bitter at all. It was a good earthiness to it. Frankly I was trying to sip slowly! The vibe here is wonderful, it's like being in someone's back garden. I'd definitely do some work here and unwind if I could here. Super excited to come back!

My sister and brother both got matcha with cold foam, which turned out to be $10 each I got the hojicha with cold foam, my mom got an iced black tea, and we also shared one of their matcha cheesecake desserts. Honestly, the matcha cheesecake was probably the best thing we had, but even that wasn't anything I'd go out of my way for. The biggest shock was when the drinks came out and we saw how small they were. For the price, we were definitely expecting a little more. The cold foam also mixed into the drinks almost immediately, so there wasn't really that distinct creamy layer or flavor you sometimes get with cold foam. I personally like mine a little thicker and more impactful, where you can actually taste the difference as you drink it. The matcha was alright. The hojicha was alright. Nothing was necessarily bad -- I just don't think it was for us, especially at that price point. And listen... I don't care if a matcha is ceremonial grade, premium grade, picked by angels on a mountain somewhere -- it's not just the grade. It's the preparation. And I will stand by that forever! The shop itself is cute, although pretty small inside. They do have outdoor seating, which is nice for Kailua. Overall, we left a little disappointed. I'm glad we tried it, but I think we'll pass next time. Happy Eating, Chass
