The Patty Shack - In formation in the entryway

We were really looking forward to The Patty Shack, we came all the way from Vermont. The experience…read morestarted strong with a deceptively nuanced waiting area that greets you upon your arrival with a no nonsense ordering system, devoid of any human interaction. The prices are great but the star of the show is the entertainment programmer who has provided avant garde TikTok reaction videos, edited over an endless loop of ragtime music, which pushes the medium of burger entertainment to new heights. However, this surreal experiential burger installation has a decidedly unsatisfactory burger (which in hindsight may be the message the artist is trying to convey with their piece). The burger forces the patron into a self reflective spiral upon first bite. So potently wet and swampy, the bun begins to disintegrate immediately as all of the toppings slide into the palm of your hand. Leaving you with a fistful of slop. 10/10 would recommend for any patron of the arts looking for a one of kind burger exhibition. 1/10 would not recommend if you're hungry.

The Kiosk they said to use was dead, we had already ordered on line fortunately. The information said the food would be left in a window, the only window there said "Do Not Enter"and had no place to leave food. I get it, it's supposed to be cheap but I had the feeling at first that I had ordered and the place was closed. Then it asks for tip. Left a 20% tip when I ordered using my card, all the service was, they brought food out to sit in a very cold unheated area. Next time, if there is a next time, I won't leave a tip since service is nonexistent.

There was live music in the bar but we wanted to sit for dinner so we sat in the dining room. The water was really great. Brought water to us as soon as we sat down and took our drink order. They had an okay selection of beers on draft but nothing that u really loved. Espresso martini that one of us got was good, not great but good. The ahi tuna bowl was amazing. Our son had it and said that everything was great. My wife had the Cape Cod Rueben, which is her favorite go to and said it was phenomenal. Our daughter got the chicken fingers and fries and said the fries were her favorite. I got a grilled chicken sandwich and the breast seemed a bit cookie cutter and not really fresh. The apples in my sandwich were more like a jar jam and wasn't very good. The brioche bun was okay but overall the sandwich was a disappointment. I will say the basket of fries was the highlight for my meal. I ordered the key lime pie to go and it wasn't very good. The menu said it was world famous and won competitions but in my travels, this was about a 3 out of 10 of all the key lime pies I have had. Overall, our visit was good and they deserve 5 stars for service. If we ever go back, I will try something different. I'd recommend giving it a try.

Just up the road in Campton, we discovered Covered Bridge Farm Table--and what an amazing place. The food is incredibly fresh and truly farm-to-table. The staff was super friendly, and our waitress was fantastic. We both ordered the clam chowder, which is gluten free and absolutely delicious--exactly what we needed to warm up. We also ordered the Cowboy Chips, and fair warning: they disappear fast. They were amazing, with the smoked Gouda being the perfect finishing touch. Definitely not your average nachos. As an added bonus, the restaurant overlooks a covered bridge and a river, making for a wonderful view while enjoying our afternoon snack. The menu overall looks fantastic, and we'll definitely be back to try more dishes.

The manager asked us for our option and we decided on the upstairs. We made the right choice. Cozy, welcoming, and pleasant atmosphere. The rustic environment, and farm-related chotchkies all around give the place a special ambiance. The cheese and cracker trays are sinful as all heck but they are a good start on a long day. After ordering brews, we settled on ordering food. We shared delicious chicken tenders and then I ordered a Sesame Tuna Salad which was superb. Wait service was exemplary. Glad we came over and will be here again.
