The jumbo dog and honey ham smoky have the least fat. And choice of whole wheat or white bun. Outdoor seating. It's a little expensive for the smokies when it takes 2 to fill a guy ($17 with GST) . I think they upped their price too much.

These franks are huge and juicy, and you can pile on as many toppings as you want. I had the regular jumbo dog, while my boyfriend opted for the jumbo chili cheese dog. The bacon and cheese dog sounded really good, but that's just asking for a heart attack! As big as they are, I was surprised that I wasn't full in the end, just like a normal hot dog. I liked that the woman working there asked me if I wanted fried onions before she piled them on my hot dog, since I have a strict aversion to onions. They had pickles, peppers, cream corn, anchovies, and raw onions for toppings. After covering my hot dog with ketchup and sweet onion mustard, I loaded pickles on top. Hey, don't knock it til you've tried it. Pickles on hot dogs taste awesome! This location is basically a food stand outside, and they have few bar-stools off to the side where you can sit. Since it's cold weather right now, you have to eat your frank quickly, since there's nowhere to duck for warmth. Cash only at this location.

We went with high hopes but ended up leaving with nothing. This event should definitely be longer than 4 hrs on only one day. This needs to be at least a weekend long event to cut down on lines and wait time. Unless some big changes are made I can't see myself going next year. I'd rather check around downtown and find some of these trucks on my own, or try out the restaurants. I would not recommend this event unless you're looking to wait hours in line. If you do go, make damn sure you're not paying for parking anywhere... Park and take the LRT or bus because you'll be a while.

I was so excited to have What the Truck come to my neighbourhood. I had heard much about the…read moreindividual food trucks and also about the past WTT events. I was thrilled to be able to attend. Finally. But the experience did not live up to the expectations. First, the trucks were crammed too close together, making the lines difficult to navigate. It was hard to determine which line we were even in. This also made the abundant seating that the Victoria Promenade has to offer utterly worthless, since the lines for the trucks snaked around the benches. I mean, how can one sit and enjoy a meal with dozens of people crushing in around you? Going across the street to sit on the grass wasn't helpful when a resident in the neighbouring condos called the cops on people sitting there for "destroying the landscaping". Lines were very long, but the food we had (from The Act) was extremely good. Maybe not 70 minute wait good, but very good none-the-less. A couple of trucks ran out of food by 7:30. Some of my friends were denied food after waiting in line for 45 minutes. Overall, the event seemed poorly planned, especially for something that wasn't just thrown together at the last minute. I would hope that What the Truck does come back to The Prom, but if they do, I would suggest closing down the road for the last block, having the trucks spread out and parked in the middle of the road, thus allowing for the lines to extend down the road and opening up the seating in the benches along the Promenade.

The best thing is that every single item is under $10. There are lots of dips, drizzles and toppings to choose from. Mini baby Dutch pancakes - these hot delicious pancakes are great for sharing or in my case, eating them all myself. (My personal favourite) Cheesecake on a Stick - this is their most popular item. Overall, I enjoyed everything I had. Ed, the owner is friendly and inviting. He was very helpful in guiding me through the process and letting me know which the top picks were. The ambiance is light and fun and whimsical. You can also catch them at the various farmers market locations, KDays and Taste of Edmonton this year.
