I was actually at a neighbouring business in this same strip and decided to stop in a grab some donuts for my kids. Very friendly and excellent customer service. The price list seems very reasonable for these delicious looking pastries. I asked for a box of 6 of their favourite donuts. My favourite flavours were definitely the s'more and strawberry rhubarb which comes with a baby macaron on top that they also bake in house! They are crueller style donuts so they are light and fluffy, soft, warm, and delicious! So glad I stumbled upon this hidden local gem.

It's nostalgic to walk in and see the shelved lined with glass jars full of candy. I appreciate the obvious extra effort, especially given that they would be shipping to another city. As for the calendars themselves, they are gorgeous! Beautiful, colourful artwork done by a local artist in Edmonton (appropriately tagged on their Instagram page as well!). The flavours themselves are also unique, and I can't wait to try them and share my experience with the others I've planned to gift these chocolates to. Thank you!

My favourite bar is the Maple Pecan & Blueberry! Those 3 flavours together are so, so yummy! They also do truffles, and seasonal bars, like gingersnap, at Christmas - and pumpkin spice for Thanksgiving. All of the chocolates are made in a strict Gluten Free environment, so they are a safe gift to give for anyone with Celiacs. In fact, they make a fabulous stocking stuffer, Valentines gift, pick-me-up present, and on and on... Also, because they are 100% Edmontonian, they also make a wonderful (and delicious) addition to a "Welcome" basket for visitors. As well, I know that these chocolates have won a ton of prestigious national awards! It used to be a bit of a struggle to find Violet CC (outside of the City farmers market) but now they are in a bunch of locally owned boutiques like Lyndale Accents, Harlow High Street, The Wish List Gifts, etc. As well as all of the Evoolution stores in Alberta (and those are popping up everywhere! I just found one in Canmore!!) as well as a few coffee shops, the 3 Swish Flower locations, and so on. Enjoy!

I got a split scoop of the Real Deal Strawberry and River Valley Road (rocky road) - strawberry was a little bland for me 7/10. River Valley Road was 10/10 good. Nice rich chocolate flavor. I don't live in this area, so the walk was further than I had anticipated. So I got to Kind Ice Cream already feeling the effects of some heat stroke. And while ice cream isn't probably the best solution (drinking water would be better) it's not the worst, right? Ice cream is a good idea, or the dairy-free alternative is since I'm lactose-intolerant. Kind Ice Cream has three choices for me from their regular menu, and they usually have a dairy-free alternative in their rotating menu. I went for one of their standards Lemon and Jammy Raspberry. I'm a fan of anything Raspberry flavour and this was delicious. My first visit at Kind Ice Cream but not my last. 0 out of 5 for heat stroke. 5 out of 5 for the ice cream.

This local shop is tucked in by the bookstore & liquor store stripmall and across from the restaurants, butcher and coffee on the 4 corners (as the locals call it in Ritchie). As it is a small shop (aka small bench inside), I usually grab a pint or if the weather is nice, a cup or cone to enjoy outside. There's some benches just at the corner and some sitting options if you cross the ave. Parks nearby, including a dog park and Millcreek Ravine. Both not far. Just depends on how active you want to be when you enjoy your ice cream. Price point is average for what is being charged in Edmonton. So this is still in a treat category.
