A plate that far outstripped my appetite but it all looked very good. Throw in a drink and the bill came to about $12. Which, considering I'd been thinking a pizza slice was going to be my lunch, was more than I wanted to spend. But, I figured, I should be more adventurous. And the food was good. Very good. So good I kept eating long after the point of being full and I still had tons of food left. So, for food court fare, it's a bit more expensive than I might like to pay. Today, my love affair has not changed. New York Fries is just as good as ever - if not better! The location in Halifax Shopping Centre starts with a great staff. No longer are we limited to just fresh fries and cokes; they now have a variety of poutines, loaded fries, hot dogs and drinks. One evening, my husband, the poutine-a-holic, and I decided that we would take our NYF coupons and head over to test out the new tastes. He ordered the "works" and I got the braised beef poutine. We were not disappointed. His works came with beef chili, fresh made fries, sour cream, cheese sauce, fresh green onions and real bacon. I stole a bite. It was FANTASTIC. The service was amazing, food cooked from scratch in the kitchen, and I love the local focus (they use local black angus beef). A local beer selection would be welcomed as an addition once they get their feet back in the soil. Decor... they need a brass rail. I'll give them the star for decor since they are only a couple weeks since they opened their doors. They obviously focused on what counts, great food, great service, comfortable atmosphere.
