When they first came to install, the installation team was shoddy at best. They had to YouTube how to install the insert. After being there most of the day, we were naively happy with the job. This past spring, we called for service because our insert had become unstable and completely fell forward and loose from the wall. We never received a return call after several attempts of contacting them. My husband took it into his own hands this past weekend and fixed it himself. What he found was astonishing! They installed the insert using PENCILS for shims! PENCILS! So it is no wonder that the pencils deteriorated, cracked, and crumbled. My husband had to cut tiles to properly support the insert, reinstall the front brackets that were never fully screwed in place, reinstall the logs, and realign the front cover. Moral of the story is not to expect good service after the sale. You won't get it and will be stuck repairing things yourself or calling another company. Luckily my husband is handy.

They were the only 1 out of 5 that actually listened to me and listened to what I wanted. They showed up (on-time) with a 3-man crew. They ran a video camera down into the chimney and videoed all 40' of the chimney and they explained everything they were doing (I was on the roof with them). Then we got a very detailed proposed of what work they were recommending. Their quote was middle of 3 quotes received -- 1/2 of the highest quote and about double the lowest bid which was a pretty generic, "one size fits all" quote that was based on a visual inspection looking down into the chimney. Despite the low price, I didn't have any confidence in the low bidder's ability to do the job for the price. We paid for the video inspection (only fair) and I feel we really got our money's worth. The guys from Kicking Ash really seemed to know what they were doing and I would highly recommend them.
