Chicken Ribs Mac and cheese
BB Q.

Little sorta comfort food lunch cafe spot if I was gonna label it as a style. Obviously a Fired Chicken joint so had to try it. As a BBQ reviewer I happened upon this little place because they have Ribs on the menu, so expectations weren't even set at medium for what they could offer as a "Good BBQ meal". They had a Chicken and Rib meal deal with 2 sides. 2 Ribs and 2 pieces of Chicken. Got one fried chicken breast and 1 friend chicken leg. Meal was for 2 Ribs but they through in 3 cause ... I don't know, I'm probably one of the only guys who got their Ribs in the last few days. Had to try their Mac and Cheese and I asked what they might recommend for a second side, thinking they would tell me which side people seem to enjoy the most. She said "Idk, maybe a vegetable" ... and the place went from a potential C- to an F. Grabbed the coleslaw just because it was the closest BBQ themed side dish. "Spare" Ribs were cold, tough, not much meat, meat was heavy, Loaded with Sauce like it was cooked in sauce for a whole day, not quite at the point where the meat was like rubber. I think these guys call them "Spare" ribs for a different reason. The fried chick was the same quality you'd find a grocery store hot bar. It was bad, it just wasn't good enough to name an entire operation out of it. But it was juicy enough, crispy enough, good enough fried batter but not much more than that Coleslaw was called "Zesty" but I don't know why. Not the worst coleslaw I've ever had but in the top 3 easily. Cabbage was barely shredded, there were big giant pieces of it hanging out of the little Styrofoam cup. And it was almost straight up mayo, no vinegar taste at all. And it was really cold. Mac and cheese was just cheese sauce, typical grocery store hot bar style, nothing added. Had to eat it just to get the temperature back into my mouth cause of how cold the slaw was. Came with a little bun that again is obviously bought from some other mass producer. Got a cornbread that I was confident enough they made. Good enough, just tasted like someone else's mix and not a homemade one. They had a little display of wrapped up baked goods, not unlike a little counter top display at a convenient store with Brownies and Whoopie Pies and stuff like that from a local baker. But it was labeled as their own stuff so I grabbed a "Deluxe Brownie". Still trying to figure out what the "Deluxe" part is but in any case it was actually pretty darn good. Still moist and cool, not dry, kind of that halfway point between a cool soft fudge and a fluffy cakey texture.

a bowl of rice in a styrofoam container

As soon as I entered the establishment I felt a bad energy . As if the fabrication itself was somehow tainted. Once I made it to the counter it was clear things weren't in order. the menu wasn't loading and had no inclinations of what was included in certain meal options. there was no one over 20 on site which is odd as there should be a manager managering yah know. [[HIGHLIGHT]]anyways the rice was overcooked and ruined we weren't asked if we were dining in and it affected the dining experience negatively[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] . [[HIGHLIGHT]]chicken was fire though go to plaistow instead .[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Well, first visit after reading different reviews. Traveled…read moresome distance to try. Ordered a fiddlehead double IPA with 8.2 abv Smoked bbq chicken wings 2 meat combo of ribs, brisket, Mac and cheese, bbq beans Well, smoked wings were outstanding and some best I've had .... Just right amount of smoke flavor. Brisket was a huge wow... tender, moist and some of best brisket I've had at many bbq spots throughout USA. Ribs had a nice smoke ring, a bit salty for my tastes, but still an excellent cook on the ribs Mac and cheese was great, I wanted a multi cheese taste... add a parm cheese to it... still excellent cook on the Mac and cheese Beans very good, I like a bit more molasses, with few chunks briskets ... excellent however Corn bread on dry side...needs improvement Only one option for bbq ... I wanted a peach flavor for my brisket, but all good Excellent bbq with outstanding wings . I'll return .

Absolutely raving about The Rusty Can in Byfield, MA! This hidden BBQ gem blew us away. The ribs…read morewere fall-off-the-bone perfection, with so much meat packed onto each one--seriously generous and smoky delicious. The pork belly sandwich special was an unforgettable mouthful: juicy, cheesy, and perfectly stacked on toasted rye that added the ideal crunch. We were shocked (in the best way) by the salad portions--massive! Easily enough to feed a family of four, and fresh as can be. The cornbread? Soft, sweet, and heavenly with the honey butter. We did think a little toast would've helped that butter melt just right--but still a must-order. The house pickles were crisp with the most satisfying snap and bold flavor. We also tried the hush puppies with their unique dipping sauce--super creative, though not totally our vibe. Limited seating means you might wait, but trust us--it's absolutely worth it. Booth or table seating. The Rusty Can is a flavor-packed experience from start to finish.

We started out with wings that were good although slightly underseasoned. Their maple ranch dressing balanced the taste well. For my entree, I went with a new item on their menu- BBQ Benny. I asked for my BBQ bernaise sauce on the side. I was surprised to get 4 poached eggs so that was a bonus and they were perfectly cooked. Home fries were unevenly cooked probably because they were unevenly cut but the flavor was on point. Place is cheerfully decorated for the holidays. I am unsure of how it would be on a busy night/day as the place is not huge and tables are placed close together.

Parking was plentiful and entering the restaurant it is nicely decorated with a Pub vibe. The menu had recently changed and the server mentioned the changes, A+ for doing this! I started off with the smoked wings. Nice smoky flavor but could use some seasoning. The maple ranch, came in the side, was deeeeelicous and saved the day. For an entree I selected the hash and eggs. Disappointing! The brisket used for the hash was stringy, unseasoned/under seasoned and had fat scattered throughout. The poached egg on top was done perfectly and infused some much needed flavor into the hash. The home fries were the only well seasoned component to the dish. Despite the uneven sizes, the potatoes were crispy outside with a tender inside and the right amount of seasoning. Toast was unbuttered with cold hard little packets to do it yourself. I appreciate the healthiness of this, but at least give room temperature butter so it can actually be spread. Overall a disappointing experience and certainly not the highest quality BBQ proteins which I expected to shine. Service was great but otherwise I don't think I'll be back.

The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender with a smoky glaze that had just the right balance of sweet and savory. The brisket was juicy and flavorful with a nice smoke ring, and the pulled pork was perfectly shredded and packed with flavor -- it didn't even need extra sauce (though their BBQ sauce on the side is delicious). The sides were just as good as the meat. The mac & cheese was creamy, cheesy, and comforting, and the cornbread muffins were soft, slightly sweet, and a great balance to the smoky meats. Portions were very generous, the food was still hot when it arrived, and everything tasted freshly made. Overall, this was one of the best BBQ meals I've had in a long time, and I'll definitely be ordering again! Highly recommend if you're a BBQ lover.

The roll is semi statle (dried out) and the meat was dry too. Fries- a handful were thrown in. A small condiment cup of slaw was very good. No napkins or utelsils either. Not impressed.

The servers were proactive in removing empty plates from the table, brought extra napkins without us asking, brought out the order sheet frequently without us asking, and checked in twice throughout our meal to see how we were doing. This was my first time trying this style of dining where you cook the meat at your table, so I was really excited going in. Unfortunately, the food was not good at all. Several of the meats we were served did not seem fresh, and the overall quality was very disappointing. Instead of enjoying the experience, I found it unappetizing and honestly couldn't wait to leave. I know everyone has different tastes, but based on my experience, I would not return or recommend it. I was expecting a fun and memorable meal after such a special occasion, but it ended up being one of the worst dining experiences I've had.
