For those who don't know, this location used to be a retail store for aquaponics so there was water and dirt all over the place... which is the norm aquaponics is a very cool and efficient way of gardening. Anyways, the location is now a new coffee shop, and since I am a huge supporter of the Cafe Passport, I am always looking for new coffee shops to heckle them to add to subsequent editions. Though an address is given as well as my description of what this location used to be, to further know better where Sunshine Espresso is, it is in the Minton Center, a strip mall on New Haven Blvd (US-192) that is just east of the intersection with Minton Rd. If it helps, Get Your Fun On and Umami is just a little ways northwest of this coffee shop. The first thing I noticed was the "drive-thru." I didn't utilize it, but it is cool they have a drive-thru option for those who want their coffee and food on-the-fly instead of stepping down. I, however, opted to step inside to soak in the ambiance. The place is minimalistic with a surf/beach vibe. Just like many restaurants these days, they made sure to utlize a "photo-op backdrop" for social media. Chad, the lone worker there happens to also be th owner/operator. Kind dude who I must congratulate on the Sunshine Espresso business getting up to that one-year mark (I think, I need to ask him again). Every small business owner knows that the first year is the "make it or break it" year, and it looks like Sunshine Espresso is doing well. As for what I ordered, I had the Apple Fritter Latte and two breakfast croissant sandwiches, one with bacon and one with sausage patty. First and foremost, the Apple Fritter Latte was delicious, but for me, the apple fritter flavor was kind of light. As a matter of fact, I could possibly mistake the latte simply as an apple latte because the fritter part seems to be missing or maybe te coffee flavor is blocking it. The breakfast sandwiches were good, and I have to applaud Chad for the integrity. It should be noted the sandwiches are not made from scratch, but assembled with high-end ingredients bought from Gordon's, assembled, and prepared on spot. It is kind of hard for him to make fresh food given the fact certain kitchen wares are lacking. Still, with what he has, he assembles and warms an excellent breakfast sandwich. Nothing wrong with such especially when the owner is being honest. Overall, this was a very good visit to this coffee shop. I will say the only "issue" is the location. I am not used to this area being a coffee shop location, so I have to get used to it. Yet, I look forward to visiting more times so I can.

The chicken salad was a tad dry for me so next time I will ask for extra mayo to add in. It came with tortilla chips (from a bag I would imagine and they tasted like it) and some of their homemade beet hummus. A hard pass next time. Not my thing apparently. Also it says it comes with tomato. Missing on my wrap. Just noticed reviewing the menu. That may have helped with the dryness. They had a cooler that had drinks in it, but the bottle of tea I grabbed was warm. They also have a thing of water you can help yourself to. But it could have used some ice. It was room temp. But free. Busy cafe and they were pumping out the food and drinks. Coffee drinks appeared to be very popular from my vantage point. Gonna have to give it a go again and try a bowl. It was very sweet albeit with plenty of caffeine. :) The staff were very engaging. Almost to a fault. Sometimes a little space is nice. Food came out and it was very good. No condiments used. They have a pepper "salsa" on their roasted tomato that was very good. My omelette was large and very good. Very well balanced ingredients ratio. The two egg breakfast was also very large and well done. As we finished up the owner started playing guitar. Electric acoustic version. A little loud. So we let him know as did another two top. Whoa that went over like a lead ballon. If he had lost the amp it probably would have been pleasant. Pretty pricy but I do think it was a good value. Staff needs to turn it down a notch or two on "how is it" questions.

They also have some food options, which is very cool. Things that are easier to eat handheld and walking, like a croissant with toppings and things of that nature. However, I definitely have some issues with it. First, you need to be a fan of sweet coffees to get the most out of this location. Their sweetness is through the roof from the couple of drinks that I've tried--so much so that the main gimmick here is on their signature lattes, like their cheesecake latte or tiramisu latte, they will put a slice of that on top of your drink. So that would mean a whole slice of cheesecake on top of your cheesecake latte. This will be, of course, at an additional charge. This leads me to my second point of contention: the pricing is just too high here. I understand that this is a very small business so they're gonna have higher costs that they need to retain, and I have to imagine in the Avenues it's pretty expensive even if they are a mobile coffee cart. However, when your competition is able to get five or six dollar coffees, and I'm walking out of here spending $10 or more for a signature latte, there's a problem. Keep in mind, that $10 doesn't even include their main gimmick of the slice on top. I believe adding the actual slice is somewhere between an extra $5 to $7. To put that in perspective, you can walk into Publix and buy an entire cheesecake for around $15. Especially given that within a five-minute walk, there is a brick-and-mortar coffee shop in the Avenues. It's cute, and it has its time and place if you really want a sweet drink and can catch them during their uncommon hours, which I understand. It is definitely not a place I would stop every day given their pricing and their sweetness. I look forward to trying them again to see if I have a different experience and will update the review if so.

I ordered a seasonal sampler and was some of the best Mimosas I've ever head. There was a vanilla orange mimosa, a blue berry and dragon fruit... absolutely amazing. I'm looking forward to coming back and just Know there is normally a 15-20 min wait for a table. Service was prompt and friendly.
