Overall the service was great ! Small mom and pop- food came out quickly one after another. Very clean. Even gave us cutely cut up fruit as complimentary when they noticed we were nearing the end of our meal. I love Isaan food and I was shocked to find a place in Vancouver for it, since it's already pretty difficult to find places in Portland outside of the few we have. The appetizers are what ultimately settled on 4 stars- the calamari ended up being rings and more Americanized than we expected, and our wings were not the best :( since they were over fried and cut up in a way to make more surface area during the frying, there wasn't much meat it was all crunch. The entrees were great, though! My partner ordered the pad khee mao drunken noodles. I got the thum taad which is a platter of a multitude of papaya salad, prawn, Vietnamese ham, pork grinds, etc. the thum has the perfect funky taste I look for when it's Isaan thum. Delicious!!!! Prawn was pretty good. Loved it. We also got this oyster clam omlette but unfortunately it was mainly batter crispy bits and less egg and clam. But flavor was not bad. Hmm, perhaps their kitchen was just having an off night, because some friends recommended we try this place for Thai take-out and we were disappointed. We ordered the egg rolls, pad Thai with chicken, and a side of steamed veggies. The only good thing was the steamed veggies, which were perfect and cooked just right as crisp-tender. But the pad Thai was way too sweet - we've had a lot of pad Thai over the years and know that yes, it should be a little sweet, but this was overly so. And the egg rolls, which according to their menu description, were supposed to contain both glass noodles and veggies, but our order contained only noodles in the egg rolls, without a veggie in sight (trust me, after the disappointing first bite I was really looking). Pad Thai, waaaaay too much peanut sauce. It was overly saucy. Wings, dry and fried to a crisp. Pineapple fried rice was moist and mushy, literally came out yellow and tasted like curry. The menu has several options that you don't find in most Thai restaurants, consistent with the country, most of their specials are seafood based. Service is warm, cheerful and spot on. While I have had Panang Curry several times, this time I went for the crispy pork belly version. I appreciate their spice scale, from no spice to mild, medium, hot and even hotter. I went for mild and it was perfect for me. The wife went for chicken yakisoba, which can be a mixed choice and she was quite happy and pleased The pot stickers were good as well. The presentation stands out with the quality of the food and service. A bamboo plate for the noodles, a steel pot for the curry and a carafe of cold water on the table. Great Thai food and a different menu than most places. You'll find a few recognizable dishes, but they specialize in unique offerings sure to please the pallets of many Thai enthusiasts. We opted for special item 1 on the menu, the Thai pork belly dish, the crispy pork skewers, and the grilled river prawn dish. The food was super tasty. We could have eaten 10 plates of the skewers! They were the best! The pork belly was tender and juicy, and the prawn dish with glass noodles was out of this world. Presentation was fabulous, with food being served on their own embossed wood platters. Ambience was cozy with decorations and photos of the good adorning the walls. Chef came out and we thanked him. We ordered the crab puffs, which were perfect little presents of creamy lusciousness, the Tom Kah with shrimp, which was the best that I have ever had and I am a connoisseur! Truly different than other Thai restaurants I have been to. The Yum Moo Krob (Crispy Pork Belly Salad) is flavored like Laarb with lime and fish sauce but made with chunks of wonderfully rich pork belly. The Crab Puffs are actually full of the cream cheese and krab mixture. I can't wait to try more of their menu. Also important for me when they changed owners they got new seating which is so comfortable. It makes a difference in where I choose to eat. We just recently moved here and wanted to find some "good enough" thai places but never thought i would find an "as good as home" type of flavor. Every thai restaurant has their typical pad thai, yellow curry, tom yum and so forth but this place has menus that I rarely see here in the states. They're even hard to find in Thai Town California. Anyways our first visit, my husband had grapao moo krob (basil pork belly) and second visit he had yellow curry with pork belly (he's a pork belly fan) and he said they both were really good. His menus aren't too hard to find. I went for more of the "what i want to eat at home" which was juab yuan (kinda like homemade thick rice noodle soup) and kuai jaab (rolled flat noodle soup). Both visit i took kanom jeen (noodle salad with mackerel, spice level 5) home. I love everything kanom jeen so this was golden find for me!! They also had "look choop" which is a traditional thai dessert made of mung bean (yellow bean) and jelly then molded into different shapes. Traditional ways wouod be molded i to little fruits and veggies (pictures). Modern days in thailand, you'll see all sorts of fun cute characters.It's soft and sweet, a must try. Their thai tea was good too, not super sickenly sweet like what you get at some boba place. My mother went there today and specifically asked if a menu item contained fish, they told her no. And after she took a bite of it she thought she tasted it and they said no repeatedly. She has a severe allergy fish allergy and started going into anaphylaxis. When my dad rushed to the restaurant to take her to the hospital and they stopped him from leaving until he paid the bill. So that is in addition to the $3000 hospital bill that they accrued due to this restaurant's deliberate negligence and incompetence. If I could give less than 1 star I would. read more

(I may not speak for the average person but I eat a lot of Thai food.) We had a chicken curry that was literally like broth. It had no thickening. It wasn't soup like, it was soup. I also ordered Pad Thai. The noodles were overcooked to the point of being mushy and it was sauced to the point of being wet. Maybe Im not a good judge of Thai food. I am an over the top fan of going into an asian restaurant and seeing a TON of asian people in the joint. THAT is the first great sign... people that know the food are visiting... Now that this point is out of the way, this place is fantastic!!!!! I haven't seen Tom Leng since I was in LA and before that, I had it from a Thai family making it at home for their little girls birthday. Great texture and the ribs were fall off the bone... sour body to the soup and it was hot!!! SOO GOOD! Yam Pla Duk Ful... CRISPY Catfish salad... YES please!!! tons of greens all over shredded mango and sweet and SPICY sauce... (but if you get Thai hot, be prepared to be Thai... not for the beginner!) Tom Thad... Papaya salad with seafood (HUGE prawns... almost like langoustine) crab and pork belly crispy with the texture of the noodles. Can't beat it. Very well seasoned!!! Not sure if you can say it's expensive when you can't get anything like it anywhere near her that is remotely close... but if your idea is pad Thai and you like crab puffs, this is probably not your place... go somewhere else. there are a hundred crappy places that can serve you the 'Big Mac' of siam, but if you want unbelievable food that is an adventure, this is your place!!! We also had the stuffed squid salad and the crispy pork belly (yum moo Krab) and it was great too... although the pork belly was like a few minutes over done so it was drier than the other pork belly dishes. This is my new favorite Thai food in town. As a person who was born and raised in Thailand, I would prefer to have real authentic Thai Food and this place amazingly nailed it. Don't let the little location fool you - this place is the real deal. Full disclaimer - I worked at a Thai restaurant in high school and consider it now one of my favorite cuisines, so any chance I get, I am eating at a Thai place. On New Years Eve, my family and I did an Escape room nearby and we wanted to pick up some takeout to bring home after. We pre-ordered online (SUPER easy process!) and picked up... it was super hot and fresh AND ready at our pick up time! The staff there was so kind and humble when we came in - offering to help carry the bags to our car because there was so much (couldn't help it - everything looked delicious and we over-ordered!). Even the chef popped his head out from the back to say hello and thank you... but it was ME that should have been thanking them. Little did I know I was about to go on a culinary trip across the globe. We went for a few appetizers: calamari, dumplings, crab rangoons - al were completely demolished by our family. They have monthly specials and I hope they keep the pork belly and the crying tiger on that list because both were a major hit for us! We also ordered pad see ew, pad thai, fried rice, and a curry - all which were excellent. The pad thai was a bit heavy on the tamarind but I like it that way! The only dish that was less of a hit was the black pepper beef only because the beef was really tough. The flavor in it was fantastic and lots of onions and veggies were a nice touch. We've just kind of started with the place is close by and have been working our way further and further out. But finally, only about 19 minutes away, we finally found this place! Probably the worst Thai food I've ever had in my entire life. Poor food ingredients. We ordered the crying tigard, it was tasteless, dry and overcooked, the sauce was too sweet. The grilled river prawns have a strong (fishy/ammonia odor) to it. They have gone bad. I can't believe they still serve them to their costumers. I had to spit it out my gut was screaming "NO". Tum Yum seafood noodle soup., again, the seafood smells extremely unpleasant and pungent, the soup was okay, trust me, you can spend .50 cents to get a pack of MaMa instant noodle and it tastes way better than this. Lastly. We ordered Mango sticky rice. The sticky rice was dried up, not sure how long it has been sitting in the fridge. Poor experience ever. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY! read more
