YE Gurl Says: Cold Night, Warm Craft at Restalgic Atelier…read more **Place:** Restalgic Atelier (New Location) - 83 N High St., Columbus, OH **Date:** December 11 **Experience:** Candle Making Class On a cold December night, I made my way downtown--dodging construction, hunting for parking, and arriving just in time--for a candle-making class at Restalgic's new High Street location (note: not the former Broad Street spot). The effort was well worth it. Once inside, the evening unfolded thoughtfully. We began by exploring the scent library, taking time to identify the notes and inspiration we wanted to bring into our candles. Drinks and supplies were already set at our workstations, and we were invited to select a handmade pottery vessel from a beautifully stacked display at the front of the studio--each one unique and glazed with intention. The instruction struck the right balance between accessible and educational. We learned about organic coconut-soy wax, the use of paper wicks, how (and why) to trim them properly, and the importance of stirring the wax for exactly two minutes. After pouring, there was a brief cooling period before we were allowed to finish our candles with dried flowers or herbs, adding a final personal touch. The details didn't stop there. We left with: - Our candle set in handcrafted pottery - A laser-printed name tag for the candle - A thoughtful thank-you gift: a glazed pottery fortune cookie, perfect for tucking in a holiday wish YE Gurl says: This was one of the best candle-making classes I've attended. At $45, the value is clear--natural scents and wax, handmade pottery with no upcharge, and an atmosphere that genuinely earns the atelier label. Creative, calming, and beautifully executed from start to finish.

Its a combination of the different scents blending together with the brightness and cleanliness of the store that releases my happy endorphins. When I am blue this place cheers me up. I would love to win the lottery and just pop in there and buy a couple of everything. I used to have a Yankee Candle near me in Nashville and shopped here more frequently but not so much any more I just wish the stores were larger and offered more variety in products. This was my first time at this particular location and the staff was very helpful. I bought a couple scents for my car. I will definitely go back when in the area.

I loved the Moonlight Market before, but I reeeaaaalllyyy love it now…read more Gay Street is my favorite street in Columbus (no, not because of *that*). It's in the heart of the ever-growing downtown scene, and it feels a bit more grown-up than the Short North... no shade thrown to the ShoNo. I feel like MM really celebrates all the great local businesses of Gay Street and then also highlights local artisans and musicians. If you went in the past when it was just getting started and had a smattering of booths--go back. This year it stretches down both ends of the street, and they're adding more vendors all the time. It really feels more like a street fair now rather than a craft show... no hate to the crafts. MM in 2015 has such a cool energy; it feels very alive and filled with cheerleaders for the city. While Gallery Hop can still be a good time, it really does have a bar crawl feel to it now. MM is just so fun to grab a bite at one of the delicious restaurants (I'd recommend the underrated Plantain Cafe) and then stroll up and down the street taking in all the sights, sounds, and smells that the city has to offer. Pro tip: Park in the garage at the corner of Elm & 4th. At only $1 per hour, it's a STEAL!
