We were looking for something fun and hands on to do for vday and i stumbled upon this place on yelp. It only had 1 review so I went on to read their information and it mentioned wheel work. I called and spoke to Andrea, she was able to set us up for an evening of fun. I even found a Groupon the next day ($15 for $30 worth)! They are currently working on their website but their Facebook page is updated regularly. I think i found a new hobby. We came here for some pottery wheel action. Our instructor, Colleen, was awesome. We each took turns on the wheel and she gave great directions, tips, and quickly jumped in to help when needed. She definitely made our experience fun. I can't say enough about her. We worked with a total of 5 pounds of clay and was there for about an 1 and 1/2 and payed a total of $20. They closed 9pm that evening but I believe we left a little past 9:30. The staff was very accommodating. Colleen stated that it takes about 2 weeks for the clay to dry so we do have to return a second time to paint our creations and a third time after they have been fired up in the kiln. Awesome little shop hidden in plain view on Church Road. They owners are very hands-on and are there all the time. They help direct you toward the best pieces for your needs and are patient with the little ones. We have gone a few times with our family and also had a birthday party here. Love this place. Go at least once a week. Owners and staff are very friendly and helpful. They are available to teach you so many great techniques. You can even make pieces on the pottery wheel. Also many acrylic and glaze options. Fun and relaxed atmosphere. read more

This place was awesome. Quiet clean, lots of selection and very accommodating. Planned a girls' night here and brought our own snack and beverages and they gave us a private room. This place is ok. I went here with my kids and found the employees and customers were not very inviting. Pricing was bit high, too many fees for every little thing, but this is probably why they've stayed in business. Also not a "true" pottery experience as customer can't use the kiln or sit and make a piece from scratch.. Very cookie cutter. read more

Took my 4 yr old son here over the weekend. Staff was friendly, helpful and patient. Great selection of pieces to paint and a lot of "kid friendly" (Disney themed, cats, dogs, dirt bike, etc) things. I discovered The Barn about 6 years ago and fell in love with the place. Have been a regular customer ever since. Reading the other reviews, I have to tell you we are anything but pretentious. You want to make new friends? Come to The Barn. It's a fun, self-gratifying hobby and won't break your wallet. Pay your studio fee, the cost for your piece, materials not included in the studio fee, and a firing charge if glazing. The staff, Andrea, Lauren and Felicia, go over and above to make my time there as enjoyable as possible. For me, I wouldn't part with their friendship for the world. Be creative. Try The Barn. I stopped by with my 4 month old daughter on a whim about a week before Mother's Day 2014 to ask some questions and also in hopes of making an appt to make a MD gift for her grandmothers. There were other customers there but the staff was incredibly nice and helped us immediately. We were able to take advantage of my daughters nap -- they helped me get 3 plates w footprints done, which came out GREAT. Thanks so much for helping me make these and for being so patient. Have been going here for at least 15 years. Have been through 3different owners. Love the current owners. They are very open to my ideas and are willing to try different methods. I've been to the ceramic barn a few times. Mostly an enjoyable experience until recently. Last summer I pre-ordered 3 pumpkins with my kids names in the mouths. Because they were personalized I had to pay upfront. costing me $75. My daughter, niece and I went in 2 times to paint the pumpkins the last time being in August totaling another $40. Life happens (major surgery and family wedding) and I didn't get back to finish them. In beginning of January I emailed them saying I will be in shortly for them and I'm sorry it's been a while and was replied to with a curt response, that my items are no longer there because of a 60 day policy. After multiple emails going back and forth I asked if they could please make them again and I would ignore the time and sitting fees I spent if they would replace them to keep a customer. They said no, they are sticking with their ridiculous policy. I received no phone call that my items would be discarded and they had my number because they called me to tell me the items were finished being made originally. After my final email I figured Id give some time to see if they reached out to me changing their mind before I made my review and this did not happen. I spoke with two other ceramic places and they say they have the same policy however always make a phone call before discarding items. It was over a $100 in product and sitting fees. This definitely deserved a phone call warning me to come and get the items. I had really hoped they would offer to meet me half way but it was not about good customer service it was about being stubborn about their unreasonable policy and made it clear no exceptions. In all honesty how much would it have cost for them to make them again to keep a paying customer happy? read more
