This salon almost ruined my wedding. My wedding is on August 4, 2012. I booked my maid of honor…read moreand myself (the bride) for hair appointments months in advance, in April. The receptionist told me that their August booking schedule wasn't in however she would leave a note and assured me that my wedding party was booked in and that they would call me as soon as they had the August schedule to confirm my appointment. I called back a second time, in May, to add my mom to the reservation and once again the receptionist assured me that I had my wedding appointment booked and they would call me ASAP when they received the August calendar. It's now July 14th, 2012 and I have heard nothing from the salon. I was anxious because I haven't heard anything back from Fringes so I called them to confirm my appointment and they tell me I was never scheduled in and that they can't do nothing for me, that they've booked another wedding and I'm out of luck. The salon never followed up with me or apologized for almost ruining my wedding. Can you imagine if I had never called to confirm and just showed up on my wedding day expecting that I had an appointment? I will never go back for any reason. I don't recommend this salon and they've lost my business indefinitely.

So I went to Fringes in hopes that they would be able to fix it & to my luck they made an appointment for me that day with Donna (she even stayed late to fit me in). Donna knew exactly what to do to color correct my hair! She took the time to discuss what I was wanting my hair to look like & even showed me hair color swatches prior to starting. She was super knowledgable... great at explaining what she was doing & why, also suggested a product called "traumatic hair" to help my dry, damaged hair. The end result when all said and done was perfect :) I can finally leave me house again with out being embarrassed to be seen in public! Will definitely continue to go to this salon for highlights, haircuts & styling.

Beth was my masseuse and she was excellent. Also spent a little time in the hot tub prior to my massage. The view of the mountains was excellent. I did a bit of shopping downtown and decided to treat myself to a little spa treatment at the hotel. Meadow Spa + Pools was worth every penny! Meadow Spa + Pools is located in the Moose Hotel, which is where I had stayed, so I just had to stumble over there in my bathrobe and flippy floppies for my appointment. Since it was a last minute thing, I booked my massage about an hour before my scheduled time and they were incredibly accommodating and squeezed me in no problem. I went with an aromatherapy massage and my masseuse helped me pick out a scent that would help me relax. I also informed him that stress tension is my biggest issue and that my shoulders/back were basically FUBAR at all times. Also, my legs (thanks to some a massive ice hike up Sulfur Mountain), were incredibly sore. Gratefully he really spent time focusing on those areas, working out all the tension and pain. He checked in with me regularly on pressure and it just felt wonderful. I felt so relaxed after my session. Admittedly, I'm not entirely sure I'm someone who really responds well to aromatherapy (most scents actually give me a headache) so I personally wouldn't add that piece again in the future but the massage was glorious. As a spa guest you have access to their private hot tub, lounge (with tea, water infusions, snacks and lounge chairs) and the hotel hot pools and sauna on the roof. The lounge and the treatment rooms are clean and soothing. My massage table was heated and felt very cozy. It's easy to feel chilled in the winter while in the mountains but they do a nice job keeping you warm here. As a guest of Moose, I already had access to the rooftop pools so I decided to take advantage of the private spa hot tub after my massage. The private hot tub had the same amazing mountain view as the roof tubs but it was smaller and more intimate. I was the only one in there, in fact, so I got to relax deeply. This hot tub has a lovely waterfall and the firepit is located directly next to it, so it felt cozy and luxurious all at once. Loved every second! Worth every single penny. Would highly recommend a visit here. Just be sure to give yourself a little time to enjoy all those extra amenities!

But to me I am shocked for the reputation that Canmore holds in general as an amazing town and experiences that are Beyond! Or unique - in a good way. This was not that. im blown away they all shower in these showers and use these towels etc and literally don't seem to mind or care. Maybe they can't see because of the relaxing dim lighting. But I could. I didn't even shower there. Wasn't comfortable. This was my first time to a Float location in years. I use to frequent the one in downtown VICTORIA, BC. I definitely don't go somewhere with the intention of not great feedback... but this was hard to ignore and needs to be addressed. Every Float location is different, clearly, just like everyone's home is different. some keep their homes cleaner than others and if that's how they keep the business then unfortunately I cannot recommend. It did not feel as welcoming or relaxing as i thought or envisioned and was very rushed. Not even quiet relaxing music even if it was low at the desk. It was nothing. I came early I thought maybe I'll have a tea check the vibe or what who knows - play it by ear and it was An odd greeting like "why are you here" mentioned my appointment and name and that I was early and it was like here. Start. Bye..... I asked if I could at least use the washroom first?? I'm not a demanding person I suppose I could have said or stated vs being offered... "I am going to have a tea first" but when it's not offered and seems rushed being at the core a people pleaser I just went in as fast as possible because that was what was being shown/delegated. I can listen to meditation music on my phone so that helped a bit. Until I saw .......the towels. Towels honestly are the most bacterial generating forms of fabric in anyones home. Even When people think they are clean, if not washed and dried properly they can still be dirty. This is not new news. If times are hard I get maybe it's expensive to buy. But I tell you now if you invest in little things that make a larger impact maybe it would generate more business. Because these towels looked worse than a sports locker room or college dorm. With one girls mascara and foundation on one. I am sensitive to make up and scents so I don't wear any so it was not mine. Nothing in my face the towels were so thin and grey from dirt. These towels are naturally to be white. I had a feeling about the shower once I saw this and turned on the light to see. because I am shocked in a vastly used public setting that anyone would use a plastic curtain that can harbour pink mold. staff are highly unlikely to care enough to spray and scrub that down, and you can tell. It just makes me concerned. I love the alkaline water but then again makes me wonder if the stones are being boiled and filters changed to have clean drinking water. I didn't try it After this. I just wanted to leave. I think obviously they could have a wonderful space or float in general there. Float is a great company. But this one needs some TLC and improved cleanliness big time. The art is lovely. Please improve this because I'd want to go knowing I'm floating in sanitary conditions and able to have clean towels and shower. Thank you

My intent is to be fair and post what is true to my experience, nothing more or less. I did not have an expectation of the same people on staff all the time. What I appreciate as a customer is an introduction, especially as I'd been in a few times and had every intention of being a regular client. My opinion of the website layout is just that - my opinion. I have seen the booking software elsewhere and have not had issues, but have come to believe that the array of treatment choices are what complicate it for someone trying to self-serve with this business. What I took time discovering: You cannot just change treatment type, but must book a new *time you do NOT want with the new treatment type. Next, you must go back in to rebook again for the time you previously had. You can jockey it around like this or just call. It was closed when I was doing it and I just wanted it done. Recommendation: call in and save the time and trouble. Regarding how the treatment was coded for insurance (massage versus acupuncture), I DID bring it to the attention of the front staff. This person advised me that she was new and because of this she had *called the owner for advice* when the massage claim was denied. When I tried to point out what I'd received for treatment and what I thought I booked, she was firm that the blended treatment was to be coded as massage, not acupuncture. Because this was a definite answer, knowing she had asked for help and wanting to avoid pressuring her (false claim), I chose to instead appeal to my insurance provider. Green Shield confirmed the front desk person had acted correctly. So, I thought I was getting something claimable as acupuncture, but I was not. I am now concerned at the offer to submit to a 'different option'. Photos taken are consistent with other reviews and not 'part of my complaint' as the owner seemed to think. I was actually charmed by the stained glass and appreciated the cleanliness, wanting to highlight both. The renos mentioned in the reply were not apparent to me; it was fine.
