We have always chosen West Lake for our dogs care. So over 20+ years, our family has trusted WestLake with our pets. When I adopted one of my dogs, I got a call 30 minutes before the appointment from a lady frantically asking if I filled out the puppy form yet. I told her I had not because I had the forms that I was going to bring to the visit. I felt she was accusing me of withholding this information and that I immediately needed to stop what I was doing and send those documents right then. I understand the doctor needs to see those records, but 30 minutes before? This couldn't have been figured out a couple days or even a day before? I was talked over while trying to explain myself. I had no problem filling it out, it just made me feel like I was at fault. At this visit my dog got shots, distemper being one of them. They said he would need a booster in 4 weeks. Time slipped away and I forgot to call and make that appointment within 4 weeks. I think it was 5 or 6 weeks when I called again to schedule. The lady told me I would have to start that process over again because it was over the 4 weeks. If I would have known how important it is to have him get those shots exactly 4 weeks apart, I would have scheduled it after the initial vet visit. This costed me another vet bill, plus another tech appointment. I would like to take him to get groomed, but the groomer required him to get ANOTHER booster since the process had to be started over. This costed me another $30 tech visit. It all could have been avoided if I was educated on the importance (from the doctor and staff) that the booster HAD TO BE DONE within 4 weeks. So now my dog is matted on multiple parts of his body and I've had to do an at home scissor job while we wait for grooming. I would advise how important it is WLAH tells their clients to make the booster follow up after the initial visit so they don't forget like I did. To add to this, I work a normal 8-430 Monday-Friday job. I've had to take off work multiple times for these visits because there's no tech appointments after 430/445 unless I beg for a 5 pm appointment. How do most people who have a normal job get appointments at the vet without taking off time from their own job? They are not open on the weekends either! Other vets in town are. The last straw that broke the camels back, or rather, broke our hearts into pieces, happened on Monday. My mom's dog, Rocco needed medical attention urgently. My mom called their office on Monday and was turned away because there was only one vet that day. She had to take him to an outside facility and we found out he had liver cancer that was spread to his spleen and stomach. His stomach was full of blood and he was suffering. We had to put him down. We were absolutely devastated. It puts a bad taste in my mouth that we have trusted and given our hearts to West Lake for all our dogs, only to be turned away when we desperately needed them. A random vet put our beloved Rocco down, but we had no choice. We didn't want him to suffer any longer. When my sister told WLAH about this, they apologized about the news and went on with their day. While our family was in shambles, mourning this loss. I write this to bring some awareness to the care you, the viewer of this post, might receive. I try not to make a fuss about my pets because they are all pretty healthy and we don't require much. But in recent years it seems harder and harder to get great vet care here. I will be taking my furry family elsewhere for vet care and I would do your research on other vet facilities in Springfield to see who can truly accommodate you and your pets needs. Giving 2 stars because they have a piece of my heart for putting down our very first dog and we have been getting care here for over 20 years.

They are very caring people and when it was time to let my fur baby go across the bridge to her rainbow, they were so thoughtful for my feelings and her comfort. By far, THE BEST. When I get ready to pick up my next rescues, they will be who will be taking care of their health and well being.

And nobody would help until we called here, Olivia took our call and said they couldn't send someone out but her and another technician would be willing to come during their lunch break to attempt to help us. Which they did, I can not thank Olivia and the other technician enough we didn't get her name but they were both so amazing and got the cat into her kennel in no time , very experienced and passionate about animals , they did it during their only break and without expecting anything in return. Please give them a raise they went above and beyond!

I have taken my dog to Grace Veterinary Clinic for little over a year. When I called the clinic and told them my dog was having respiratory issues and that she had been at the veterinarian emergency room over the weekend, they told me they would not be able to get her in even though I explained to them it was an emergency. As I mentioned earlier, I have had appointments with veterinarians, but had to sit and wait because other people came in with emergencies. To me, them not getting me in my dog needed to be seen is not acceptable. I will never take another pet to Grace Veterinary Clinic and if you love your pet, I suggest nobody else does either.
