Dr. Boyce and staff have taken care of my pets for many years. What I trust is they say "we don't know but we will find out". Then they follow through. My pets benefit from that attitude. I have several friends who have gone there. They have also shared good experiences. I have had mobility issues and haven't been able to take them. This practice being back open is a gift from God, undoubtedly. So many of us wouldn't even know where to begin life without our cats and our dogs that live with us and have been our best friends much of our lives. Last year when this practice was closed and we were forced to go somewhere else, basic care cost nearly 2 months of an average mortgage payment. I literally cried, thinking about the fact that I would no longer be able to afford bringing a pet into my home ever again... Not because we didn't have love to share, but because money doesn't grow on trees for us. When I found out that Dr. Johnson and Dr. Costantino were reviving this practice, I was so glad to see them and the old gang that had been with me through years of pet ownership. Meeting Dr. Johnson for the first time was wonderful! She did an incredible job interacting with a feral cat we have adopted that isn't the best behaved, and our sweet little miniature Australian Shepherd. The care was excellent and the team there really loves the animals they care for at the practice. I am grateful for the care we received last year during the closing of this practice. But the fact that Dr. Johnson is now at Chatham Veterinary Clinic, keeping with an era of veterinary medicine rarely practiced in today's world, it makes me think I might be able to afford keeping animals in my home for a long time. Whenever everything else seems to be crumbling all around, veterinary medicine from loving hearts like these, at an affordable price, makes things seem OK again. read more

Not sure if they are open any longer. No signs in the window indicating anything and contact has been non-existant lately. Left messages without returned calls. I have also stopped by twice during posted hours to find everything locked up. Shame as it had really excellent staff and Dr. Boyce was an absolute wonder with my dog. read more

Once again had to contact Chatham vet clinic. They haven't seen me since my last dog of 13 years was put to sleep years ago, but I called them on a last ditch attempt for panicked help as my new vet was closed for some unknown reason. They couldn't see me, but I explained my situation and the receptionist on the phone was so sweet and gave me several recommendations. I trusted them as I always have, and thank god one of their recommendations was willing to see us on an emergency basis. I will forever be grateful that I took my first dog to them. read more

If this is the place that's in the country, but not in the town don't go there. They are not good with your animals and they charge about the same amount of money, but they used to be really cheap now I guess they charge about the same amount of money as everybody, but if they're the ones that I'm thinking of, it's not a good place to take your animals. read more

Dr. Chuck Boyce has been treating my horses & dogs for years. He has gone out of his way to help me with them! I took my lab to him several years ago & unfortunately he had cancer. Chuck said to take him home & treat him with whatever he liked, and for me to dig a burial hole the next morning & to call him when it was ready. He promptly came out & put him to sleep. He was very caring during it. I was not charged for that trip. He has come out & treated my horses for various things, spent a lot of time, in the heat of summer taking care of a choking problem, in one of them. I have been short of money a couple of times & he let me post date a check for when my disability check came. I would not even consider going anywhere else. read more

My dog Mayo had pyometra and required immediate surgery, they took her last minute on Saturday and we got her back on Monday. They were so friendly and it was so affordable. I had when to a different vet before hand and was quoted $1,500 and the cost at this clinic's prices wasn't even half that amount it was so much cheaper. We are so glad we found them to do our babies surgery. read more

I brought my cat here today and my experience was terrible. Boyce was very rough with my baby and didn't even explain to me what he was doing to her. He proceeded to use his nails to get tartar off of her teeth and made her bleed. I had to ask what shot he was giving her every time. He didn't say a word through the whole appointment besides from answering my questions about the shots. I do not recommend coming here read more

He was especially helpful in the final stages of our pets' lives, which we greatly appreciate. Well, one of my animals is long since dead and buried. 4 months later on 12/14/2021, I received my first bill, post marked 12/10/2021, invoice date of 10/5/2021, which is odd in itself. Rec'd a second bill on 1/5/2021, dated for 1/3/2021 with $16.00 worth of late fees. When I called the office to speak with the manager about not receiving the invoice until 12/14 and then receiving $16 worth of late fees within roughly two weeks, I was told to leave a number "in case the manager wants to call me" to discuss. I was told she doesn't have regular hours. They insist they've been sending me bills since 9/30/2021, which I have obviously not received. I'm really disgusted with this place. Not only is my animal dead, but now I feel that they made an error, did not send out the invoice on time and now are trying to get extra money out of the deal. Definitely, will never ever utilize them again. What nightmare. read more

If I could give less than a one I would. I left my dog here, called many many times the next day. There was never an answer. At 7:40 p.m., Boyce called and coldly told me my Ian was dead-no reason or explanation. When I went to pick him up, I was told to "pull around back". A garage door was open and there lay my baby - just laying on the floor. The basement where they house animals is a dark dungeon! Don't ever take your best friends here! Demand a tour to see exactly where they keep your animal! I wish someone had told me about this terrible place before I subjected my Ian to it - to die in such a sad, lonely dungeon. read more

This man killed my dog. I took him in for a pre surgery appointment and they said they'd do the surgery that day because they thought they could squeeze him in. After the surgery, they left him alone for an hour and he died. They vet said the testicular tube slipped out of the sutures and he bled internally. Now this guy won't respond to my emails. Wow I am so so happy with how my dogs spay procedure went. She was checked in at 9am and back with us at 5pm that day. Her scar looks amazing the smallest I've ever seen for a spay procedure. After my chocolate lab was butchered by my previous vet we went with Dr.Boyce because of several recommendations from family and friends and he did phenomenal! We are so so happy with the results. Dr.boyce has taken care of our family pets for 40 yrs and i couldnt ask for a better vet he goes to the extreme to save animals in an emergency and is wonderful for general care. My animals trust and love him i have had 2 dogs that lived to be 21 yrs old tended to by him for the entire time. We had 4 cats live till16 yrs old tended by him their whole lifes. He take on very hard jobs but always seems to fix the problem. He has tended to my 2 horses their whole lives they are 15 and 16 now in great shape. The Learning Nook's beloved Guinea Pig "Stuart Little" developed a quick growing growth on his back leg. We went to another vet first (a exotic pet doctor) in Springfield who told us it was either an infection or tumor and would have to have an additional payment of $300-$400 dollars to check it out plus the $97.00 for the office call. I went back to Chatham Vets and begged Dr. Boyce if he could possibly see what he could do for Stuart Little. Dr Boyce immediately cut it open and removed all the infection which took a good 30 minutes of his day and only charged us $20.00 for the office call. I have always used Chatham Veterinary for my dogs, cats and horses and I must have suffered a brain freeze to go anywhere else. All 180 children and their families at The Learning Nook Pre-School thank the staff and Dr Boyce for helping a school pet that was in so much pain.
