I absolutely would recommend these beautiful people to be in trusted with our shitzu Georgie. He is our baby and has terrible anxiety when is is separated. I never write reviews but felt compelled to write this because of the experience that we just went through and I don't want others to have the same experience. Especially new puppy owners. If I could give her a zero out of 5 stars I would. I trusted this woman with my puppy and I'm very disappointed in how she treated my dog as well as her nonchalant/acting like she did nothing wrong attitude when I came to pick up my puppy. Diane was Told 3-4 times over a lengthy phone call and in person when I brought in my sweet pup that this is my first time going to a pet groomer and I just wanted her to do a Trim and I told her to NOT shave my puppy(told her at least 3-4 times on phone and in person) But when I walked into the groomer after 7HOURS of waiting for my dog and numerous phone calls to check in to make sure she was ok. I hardly recognized Stella because this woman ignored my one simple request and completely shaved my dog without my permission. This is unacceptable with how the woman blatantly ignore what I said and then acted like she did nothing wrong and still expected to be paid the full amount. And then said she "misunderstood" what I wanted with the cut. how do you misunderstand a "trim" when you literally shave a dog? I don't understand the confusion she had She Was told numerous times that I was a new puppy parent and that i just wanted her trimmed.(told her not to shave my dog) We brought Stella in at 7am and it took this woman 7 HOURS to take care of my dog --who was crated that whole time and obviously hadn't been let out to use the restroom, given water, or food. We called her at 1pm- and The lady said she hadn't even gotten to Stella yet. First off, unacceptable that we didn't receive a call from her saying that she OVER BOOKED today even though we scheduled this appointment in April. we picked Stella up at 2pm- because this was too stressful to just leave her there all day) when I brought her in for a 7am appointment to have the trim--was Told it would be a 1 to 2 hour appointment After we picked up Stella-- she is Not her usual fun-self- Now my dog is acting Very jittery and not wanting to come near us, her family. Her hair was part of her personality and now Stella knows she's not herself I would never recommend this woman to any of my friends for the safety of their dogs. read more

We have been taking our dog here for years. Dink is always personable and friendly. Our dog always looks and smells amazing after a trip to see her. She always ask us if there are any special requests when it comes to trimming her coat. read more

It wasn't easy sharing this with because I don't want to see anyone fail in business. I just needed to share it to warn others of it & how rude I was treated. It was beyond stressful & upsetting to me. After much praying I have decided to post the pics & this warning in the hopes of preventing this from happening to others too. Please do not take your dogs to Pooch Parlor on corner of Wabash & Thayer in Springfield, Il. The owner ripped the hair out of the top of my Gizmo's tail & hurt him badly. He didn't eat for 2 days & was traumatized. The owner who did it was very rude in how she handled the situation with me which is why I feel the need to share my experience in hopes of preventing it from happening to someone else's pet. I feel sick this happened to my furbaby. She also screwed up their cuts badly. I'm not trying to be mean in posting this I just want to warn others. I had to push to get a full refund which I was given but if I hadn't said anything at all she would never apologized nor offered any kind of compensation for the injury to my dog. When I did bring my card in to be credited Dink made the rude comment of "Well that's 3 hours of work for nothing ". Dink who did the cuts and made the rude comments obviously was not sorry for what happened. If she had been truly sorry and not nasty about it; I would not have posted about what happened to me and my pets. I would not recommend taking your pets to this place of business at all. read more

They did a really bad job with my dog. They peeled off all of his paws while grooming and my dog has been bleeding for almost 36 hours. Very disappointed with their service, I have never had this bad an experience anywhere else. read more

These ladies are great! I called yesterday to see about getting my two large dogs in for flea baths. They scheduled me for the following morning. Dawn gave my 3 year old Boxer and my 16 year old Golden Retriever flea baths, trimmed nails, ears cleaned and she trimmed my Golden's paw pads. They were very prompt and efficient. I dropped them both off at 9:30 am and picked them both up at 2:00 pm. They both had cute little bows and looked/smelled great. We have definitely found our new groomer since relocating to this area! Staff from my vet, who I've been working with for years and who is phenomenal (Dr. Gary Minder - Grace Veterinary Clinic) suggested Pooch Parlor because she said that one of their vets used Pooch Parlor for her poodles. I found scheduling to be fairly easy. Unlike some other places I called, the owner of Pooch Parlor picked up her phone the two times I called to set up an appointment. She got my dog in within a week. Upon arrival, she was very polite and friendly, and made an effort to get to know the disposition of my dog so that she would be able to provide the best service possible. She had him ready earlier than was expected, and it was obvious that she had done an excellent job grooming him. I could tell she was very thorough and quite detailed, and I wouldn't be surprised at all if she has experiencing grooming show dogs. In regard to the other review, I will admit that she was telling the dogs to shush when I came to pick mine up, but honestly, I tell my dogs to shut up all the time, so I can't really hold it against her. Working in a dog groomer's building all day probably gets stressful, and needless to say, my dog was happy and seemed perfectly content when I came to pick him up, so I would very strongly doubt it went any further than just telling the dogs to be quiet here and there. Also, her business is adjacent to a residential neighborhood, so she could have easily just been trying to make sure she respected her neighbors, and sometimes the only way possible is to tell the dogs to shut their traps :-) Her rates were very reasonable. In sum, I will definitely go back to her the next time I need my Springer spaniel groomed, because overall, she was excellent, and everything I wanted from a dog groomer. read more

The Gals at Pooch Parlor have trimmed my 2 schnauzers for many years. Always have done a great job. One of the owners brings her many barking dachsunds to work with her and she was probably telling them to shut up! I've always thought the groomers were professional and caring. I've had no problems and would recommend their service. read more

"My Dog was severely razor burned to the point of needing to see a doctor and be placed on a 7day oral antibiotic and Topical antibiotic. At the time I was told they would make her next visit free and when it came to redeeming the free visit they reneged despite the knowledge of their careless doing. I was livid and would not recommend going to them at all because if they mess up they DO NOT take ownership for it. Tried to tell me that my 3year old dog who has been groomed every 6weeks since the day she was purchased may not be used to the blade her cut is always the same with the same blade.
