Excellent theater in downtown Carmel for local productions. There isn't a bad seat in the house and the prices are always right. We have seen 4-5 shows here and the venue is always perfect.

What a nice place to focus on local talent. This theater is hidden away in the downtown Carmel area. The theater is a great place for musicals, plays, comedians, and music. We have been there twice for plays written by a local playwright and author. It feels cozy and casual. The walls inside are decorated with many cats of course. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming. They have a small snack bar for popcorn and drinks which includes wine and beer. Give this place a try to support the local talent. Then grab a lunch or dinner nearby at one of the many restaurants.

Tonight we had the pleasure of seeing The Addams Family at The Cat theater. It was a fabulous show and very entertaining! The cast did a great job and when things didn't go their way they were fabulous at improvising. The staff too! The theater is a small community place seating around 150 people. It's first come unassigned seating. It's a great location walking distance from the new Sun King. I recommend parking in the garage and stopping at Sun King before or after the show. The theater does have beer and wine but it's a limited collection and not a craft beer in stock. They also serve popcorn and candy before and during intermission. It's a great community theater so I hope you give it a try. We will definitely be back!

The Cat Theatre is Carmel's newest home for community arts!

    Coxhall Mansion - The Mansion

    Coxhall Mansion

It's probably not surprising that Coxhall Mansion is within the Coxhall Gardens location in Carmel…read more Both are event venues exclusive to Ritz Charles, though they fall under the Hamilton County Parks leadership. I stumbled across it today while out driving around and waiting for an event I was attending. The mansion is a historic mansion that was inspired by the Governor's Mansion in Williamsburg, VA. It has multiple options for several events and has been updated by Hamilton County Parks. From the looks of things, those updates continue to be implemented. As a historic mansion, accessibility isn't perfect. Things have been made as accessible as possible - Hamilton County, in general, tries to do that. Event space on the main floor has space for 80 people for a sit-down event. If the patio is included, you could have 100 sit-down or 120 standing. There's also a third-floor music room that has space for 40 sit-down. If you need a larger space, Coxhall Gardens has several other options including an amphitheatre. It's super weird to think that this was a home. The land started with the John Williams family (No, not the Star Wars composer). They were early Hamilton County settlers and moved here in 1855. 10 years later, they built the Victorian home that still stands. Bricks were even made on-site. In 1958, a 40-year-old Jesse Cox and his wife would make a bid on the property - it was initially denied, however, a year later the property was still for sale. Finally, they were able to acquire it. In 1999, they donated it to Hamilton County Parks. Due to its historic nature, the mansion is often viewed separately from the rest of the gardens. This entire complex is pretty mesmerizing, however, Carmel has a long history of weaving together luxury, history, and practicality and this mansion is a great example.

We initially ordered at the bar, but they came and checked in on us while we were hanging out which was appreciated. Will def be back for some old fashions. I guess I just want every cocktail bar to be dimly lit and speak easy adjacent vibes. Turns out they aren't all that way. It is a smart design. Large and cozy chairs that you can really sit back and relax in! Fun to have windows into the operation. Service: Still unclear if you are meant to order at the bar or if the bartender also serves. The bartender that night took our order from our chairs but wasn't very attentive even when they appeared to not be busy. I realize there is a lot happening behind the scenes we aren't always privy to. So just fine service - nothing negative or over the top. Cocktails: Yes, please. I always think I'm not a bourdon drinker but then I get a bourbon drink and I question my identity and knowing. I ordered a fall fresh drink that I don't currently see on the menu! Gahhh. I thought they mentioned it was always on there. Well regardless it was a 10/10 and had the right amount of zing and not too sweet. I also had an espresso martini which is delish! Peep the Yelp love on the menu! I will always support a place that has NA options for my sober friends! I hadn't had dinner so I ordered the pulled pork nachos. The queso was orange and I'm partial to blanco queso forever and always amen. The pork wasn't smoked so what's the point, really? The jalapeños were fresh and bringing the heat. They were okay but wouldn't get them again. I'll go to half liter for my fix. Will I return? Absolutely.
