I called Nick because I was considering a Used Car purchase and I was hoping he would be available to inspect the car. To be honest, inspecting vehicles is not his main jam...it takes time and coordination and as we all know, cooperation and timliness are generally not comes to mind when thinking of used car salespersons. So I was very grateful when Nick agreed to perform the inspection. He had a full day of appointments and work planned and I'd only given 15 hours notice, because of the late notice I'd received from the salesperson. Nick was FABULOUS. Showed up on time (aka....early), managed to get the car from the Salesperson and had started the inspection before I arrived. He was professional and thorough. He took the car out on a test drive and accessed EVERYTHING from mechanical, to electrical, to cosmetic. He provided a verbal and written report. Highly recommmend! read more

He replaced our back brake pads within the price and time he quoted. Then gave us info on how worn the other parts of the brake assembly were with expectations on their future needed service. We appreciated that and will use him again. read more

All repairs done fast and efficient. Did a timing belt on my Toyota Camry. Quality work. Professional all the way around.

I called and no answer and no return call. I was really looking forward to having him help me because of the great reviews but I never heard back from him. read more

I called Nick because my alternator was toast and I had an oil leak. Nick returned my call quickly and had me scheduled within a few days. Nick arrived on time, diagnosed the issues and was up front about the costs and labor required. Parts were ordered and Nick returned when parts arrived working in 90+ degree weather to have me up and running that day. Solid service and the price was much lower than what I'd been quoted by other mechanics. Honest, reliable and reasonable costs made this a great experience. read more

We've used Nick for years and would not hesitate to contact him for an issue with any of our cars!! He's been honest with things going on!! We're going to be moving and really going to miss him!! We wish him all the success he deserves!! read more

0 stars. This contractor attempted to intimidate me with a cancellation fee for an appointment. I called to cancel the evening before and received a harassing phone call back to say that there is normally a cancellation fee for appointments cancelled less than 24 hours in advance but it is being "waived" as a courtesy. If that is their policy that is fine. However, it is not stated on their Yelp site nor on their Facebook page. You cannot charge or claim you will charge fees that are not previously disclosed. Please read up on the RCW for small businesses. Attempting to scam people out of money with hidden policy is Not the way to make a living. read more

This guy is a miracle worker for sure. Our truck had been running a little rough since we bought it 2 years ago. The check engine light came on sporadically and finally we were able to get it worked on. He came to our house and took care of the vacuum leak, went and picked up the parts for us and was well below the quote he gave. He was on time, worked very quickly and told me about another issue that I had previously addressed. He made us an appointment for the next week and we brought it to his shop and fixed the problem. Once again the cost was about half what I expected. Highly recommended and will definitely hit him up for our next repair. read more

I would absolutely recommend Nick's service to everyone! We have had him work on 4 of our vehicles and have been extremely happy every time. He works quickly takes the time to explain what he is going to do for the repair and always answers any questions that we have. He is so kind and VERY reasonably priced. I know for sure he has saved us hundreds if not thousands compared to other repair shops. read more

Nick was professional, timely and offered fair pricing. He quickly diagnosed the issue, ran to the local part store, got the part and repaired the ignition coil before I was back from the bank. Highly recommend. read more

I called and left a voicemail to schedule a diagnosis. I also sent a text, but never heard back. I think he would have been good. I just never got the chance to find out. read more

Sowed up on time and diagnosed the problem. Price was very reasonable. I would definitely recommend.

I had a problem with my electric power steering. I and the mechanic thought it would be between 300-500+ . Came in at under 150.00 . Would and have recommended better than a shop. Honest and forthright. Truly a great experience. Also congratulations on the new baby girl!!!! read more

Nick "The Car Guy 253" was contacted via SMS and an appointment was easily set up for a couple days later. He showed up right on time, and quickly diagnosed and fixed our starter problem (an embarrassingly simple connection issue). His work rate is significantly lower than any shop rate I've ever encountered before. He is friendly and honest, and gets right to the point. He offers solid advice for further self-maintenance if requested. He accepts cash, check, and credit (using a Square reader). I would absolutely contact him for work again, and I highly recommend anyone else in the area to try him out. read more

So happy to have to have found him here on yelp. My car wasn't drivable so it was nice he was able to come to my home and save me the money of having it towed. I really appreciated that. Genuinely honest and reasonable. Excellent mechanic. Highly recommend. read more

This man is wonderful. I sent him a text and he got back to me fairly quickly. He worked with my schedule and came to me. He charged me LESS than the research I'd done with other places. He was not only punctual, he was EARLY, about half an hour early. He called to ensure that the time would still work for me. He came to my apartment, diagnosed my truck, went to the store to get the part, returned, and fixed it- ALL in about an hour. Could not more highly recommend. He's so wonderful! Thank you!!! **NOTE** He does accept cash, cards, and checks. read more

Nick did a great job, professional, honest, hard working and his rate is more than fair. This is a mechanic you can trust...and he came to me, NO tow bill! My car drives WAY better and we are already considering more work for him to do. Thanks Car Guy 253! read more

Wish I would have found him sooner. Came to my house and replaced my water pump and serpentine belt on a 14 Scion tc. No frills gets it done efficiently and correctly at a price better than dealers. I needed my rear brakes done and was quoted some very high prices from auto shops in the area. I contacted Nick, he came out to my home......quickly replaced my rear rotors and brake pads and saved me a lot of money! Thank you so much! I strongly reccomend this hardworking and honest mobile mechanic! read more

This guy is the best! We called about a problem with the brakes on our car, fully expecting it to be an outrageous expense. He started with the simplest solution which he told me over the phone. This solution worked and we didn't need to call him but if we ever have another car problem (and we will because, you know, it's a car) we know exactly who to call! Thank you again for your help. read more

Thorough, to the point, and helpful. I loved that he could come to our house and save me the cost of a tow to get my car checked out. He did what he had to do to get my car running and is sending me a quote for the remainder of the things I need to get done soon. Very reasonably priced. Highly recommended. read more

After moving to Tacoma, my wheel bearing went out and I needed it replaced, called around and places were charging $100 an hour. This is for a 1998 Saturn, so I was like no way, so I called nick and he gave me a quote over the phone and came out the next day to my house to fix it. Very affordable and he's very intelligent. I will definitely call him next time I need help with my car. read more

Had a starter issue on our 2002 Toyota Highlander-saw the reviews and thought this was a lot more convenient than driving to the dealership for repair. The guy showed up on time, got right to work, and knows what he's doing--even says he guarantees the work for a year. Very professional and seems like a rock-solid mechanic. Love the convenience and business model! read more

I'm from outside the area and I needed to have a vehicle inspected before I bought it. I found Nick on Yelp and he did an amazing job. Very knowledgeable and thorough. He inspected the vehicle and called me to report what he'd found (quite a few issues with the vehicle that I wouldn't have known about otherwise). It was clear he knows his stuff. Nice guy and very reasonable price too. read more

I had a problem with my 2003 Dodge conversion camper van where upon hitting a bump in the road the turn signals and electric windows and other ancillary electrical things would stop working. Thought this is going to be a nightmare trying to troubleshoot so I called The Car Guy. He came to my house found the problem to be a bad ignition switch, found one at a parts store, went and picked it up and installed it. This took under 2 hrs and cost less than a couple hundred dollars. I am sure it's not always this easy for this guy but to me that is damn near magic! I am very impressed with that kind of service and I am a Crane mechanic for 20 yrs by trade. Take it from me, he is good. read more

Nick is super kind, fast, responsive and honest. We were impressed when he promptly came over on the ferry to do a 100K mile service in our driveway. Price was very reasonable and service impeccable. Highly recommend. read more

I live in sacramento california not tacoma. I had to arrange a repair remotely for my daughters car. First i was impressed with previous reviews which i appreciate because they influenced my choice. Second the communications and explanations were clear concise and thorough so no confusion about expectations of what could go right or wrong. I knew i was dealing with a professional. The job was done and as promised. You simply can not ask for more from a business. I think the pricing is competitive. I see the services of trouble shooting diagnostics probably as vital a part of the business as any other because you will get a professional view of your vehicles problems and options before ya go into a shop and get blind sided. Id sure like to see more mechanics of this quality in the industry. read more

I called Nick because my low mileage prized 2006 Mazda Miata would not start. After patiently explaining and troubleshooting to eliminate parasitic draw and alternator indications, Nick bought a new battery and installed and we are good to go! Nick is an intelligent, patient, and very thorough expert on automobiles. And is really conscientious about how you spend your money on his services. Outstanding. I will call him again, in a heartbeat, the next time I need help. read more

My commuter car started squealing like crazy when I was heading to work. It was also running a little off after the squeals. I have a toddler and a crazy busy schedule, so when I saw this business searching for a shop that wouldn't over charge me or give me the run around, I figured I would give it a shot. Nick responded right away to my text, arrived on time and was able to fix my problem while my baby was napping. He showed me all sorts of things about my engine and explained what looked good and what he suspected was the problem. I appreciate him taking the time to educate me a bit and tell me he was seeing. He definitely knows his stuff. Super professional...amazingly convenient...and a great deal! Not to mention i didn't have to hang out in a garage or worry about getting someone to drop me off/pick up. This is the only way to go for car repairs. Thank you so much for your great work! read more
