I hate leaving negative reviews when I previously left a good one some years back. So I took my 2007 Avalanche in to be serviced in 2023, was told it's a collapsed lifter, asked to have it fixed and they worked on it for over a week and finally said it was in need of a new motor; they couldn't get the oil pressure to reach that one one cylinder. I was told "they wouldn't charge me for that work and if sucked they had put so much resources and time into it." Well they got the new engine and installed it within my truck, some weeks later I took it back because my driveway was riddled with oil leaks and I was told it was a transmission leak which they charged me to fix. Well it continued leaking but due to trusting in Larry and his team from previous experiences I just assumed they did an inspection and all was good. Well after two years of it....had someone that owns an avalanche truck ask me last week about my truck and I gave him the spill on its leaking oil I know but with receipts and being told it's not, I think it is. He looked at it and being an airplane mechanic for commercial airlines, he examined with his eyes and quickly pointed out the oil gasket seal looks to be the root cause of oil literally being sprayed along the entire undercarriage of my truck. He took a zip tie and was able to slide it with ease into a space. Well lo and behold, he offers to fix it because he previously fixed his own and I helped... guess what.... The gasket was improperly installed and in fact the main cause of my oil leak. Well sad to say, because they overlooked it, my truck is back to tapping like it was before they attempted to fix the lifters and installed the engine. Sadly, I played over 5k for a replaced engine to have it possibly needing to be replaced again two years later because of a lapse in quality control of $25-$30 oil pan gasket cover. I did call them yesterday and mentioned pricing for labor and parts to replace an oil pan gasket and it's 600.00 excluding tax. This guy installed it with my minimal help and after laying cardboard underneath my truck... not one drop of oil from it sitting all night. Really disappointed and I understand mistakes happen, but I kept calling and telling them it was an oil leak and being the "professionals" and with such good previous experiences with them.. I assumed they knew best. Now I'm kicking myself that I didn't take it to someone else for a second inspection years ago. read more

Wow, I have known this guy thirty years or more and ive sent him so many people It makes what hapoened really twilight zone..I paid 3300 bucks cash with I find out a estimate not a reciet and a truck with literally everything they touched is dangerously incorrectly installed..Thermostat was backwards but that only matters if you put coilant in, they didnt. The new U joint the guy could not get all the needle bearings just said screw it and boy was it howling..tech ciuld not have tesr or u joint howling would have been painfully apparart..Anyway leave his shop 3300 lighter and my truck overheats on hwy 18 heading fot Idaho..Remembef now no coolant..I limp back and he says he cant get me NV ack in for a wk. The other day, my daughter's window on her VW Jetta would not go back up and I wasn't in a place to help her. I suddenly remembered P Tech. Drove up from California to visit our daughter who lives in Puyallup and while visiting her axle broke in her car. My daughter is young and beautiful and knows exactly nothing about cars or turning wrenches. I looked up local shops, called Puyallup Auto tech and spoke to Greg about a diagnostic on the car. Greg was friendly and understanding of the issues and penciled us in for the next day. Late the next day we were finally able to get the car towed to the shop where I met Larry (who was just as friendly and understanding as Greg) and explained the issues to him. Being so late in the day he said it would likely be the next day before they could look at it. The next day about mid morning Larry called and explained that the axle had broke and they had located the parts to fix it which was a bit of an issue due to the fact the part was on nationwide backorder. Gave Larry the green light to get the car fixed and they got right on it. A few days later got the call it was finished and sent my daughter down to pick the car up. As a father living two states away, I can't recommend Puyallup Auto tech enough. They were fair priced friendly and honest treating both me and my daughter respectfully. All I can say is about my experience which was not good. Although this repair shop may do good work (they seem like good people) I just have to share my own experience. I had my car towed there because it wouldn't start and when I jumped the car it wouldn't stay on when I disconnected the cables. Seemed to me like a alternator problem. Their diagnosis was a dead battery, which I didn't really agree with so I asked are you sure it isn't the alternator, to which they replied "we tested it and it is fine". So they charged me about $150 for a battery and labor/diagnosis. I took the car home and within 2 days the battery was dead and the car wouldn't start. When I tried to jump it the same problem happened. The car would shut off immediately after disconnecting the jumper cables. When I called back they again confirmed that they tested the alternator and that it was fine. At that point I didn't really trust their judgement to I took it somewhere else. The new shop checked the alternator and let me know immediately that it was shot and needed to be replaced. They replaced the alternator (over a month ago) and I haven't had any problems since. Again, these guys seemed really nice I just don't know why they couldn't figure out what was wrong with my car. Seemed like a pretty easy diagnosis. I'm disappointed that I had to get my car towed (an extra time) and that I overpaid for a battery that may or may not have needed to be replaced. They've been in business for a while so I'm sure they know what they are doing, maybe they just didn't take enough time/care to diagnosis my car. read more

I have taken a number of vehicles to Puyallup Auto Tech. I've always had good results. I've used them both for maintenance and for trouble-shooting and fixing problems. They've provided solid service with both. they have proven to be honest, reliable and delived good results. A good example of thier honesty is when I took my Nissan Frontier in for its 90,000 mile check up which I thought included changing the timing belt ($900 job). They corrected me and said no, that the timing belt doesn't need to be replaced until 105,000 miles, saving me over $500. Like the previous reviewer said, they are fair and honest. read more
