The Spotted Dog actually started out as a trial for me because I knew that I had some travel plans and I needed to know that I had someone trustworthy to care for my Morkie named Mia. Unfortunately, she does have anxiety so that presented with its own set of issues. The staff went above and beyond to always make sure that she was well taken care of, and that I was always kept in the loop, especially when she was there overnight. They knew I was worried but they went out of their way to put my mind at ease. It didn't take long for me to realize that having her try daycare here and there may not be a bad idea! Although it's not every day, it definitely works in a pinch. My schedule changes frequently and they are amazing! They are very flexible and accommodating, and as soon as Mia walks through those doors, she doesn't even look back! She is so happy and well cared for! The staff is loving and sweet and I know that I have nothing to worry about. As if that's not enough...my girl also gets groomed there and looks absolutely adorable. Even though her ears are a bit oversized for her little body, the groomer knows just how to shape them so they look perfect! I explained to her exactly what I wanted and it is exactly what we got! The prices are fair and if you're looking for daycare, they have excellent package deals. The Spotted Dog is like Mia's second home where she always gets lots of love!!!

I had to give myself some time before leaving this review because I wanted to be thoughtful and…read morethorough. We have been boarding our sweet girl with Musbro since she was a puppy. She was always excited to go when we pulled up and never hesitated when they came to take her from us. We always felt completely comfortable leaving her in their care. A few weeks ago, we dropped her off on a Thursday for a 10-day stay. The following Tuesday, the owner called me to let me know that she was refusing to get up. He asked if she had recently been showing any stubbornness about going outside. He said she had eaten fine that morning but that he had noticed a decline in her energy. He told me he would keep a close eye on her and call me back with an update. About an hour later, he called again and said that her breathing appeared to be labored and that they recommended she be seen by a veterinarian. They offered to transport her to my vet, even though it was a 28-minute drive from Musbro. I called the vet to give them a heads-up, but after hearing about her symptoms, they recommended that she go straight to an emergency hospital. Once again, Musbro offered to take her wherever I wanted. I chose VEG in Nanuet because it was the closest option. The owner's daughter personally drove our girl there, gave me her personal number so I could reach her directly, kept me updated throughout the entire process, and stayed with her the whole time. Unfortunately, an emergency ultrasound revealed that she had a tumor on her spleen that had ruptured. Sadly, something like this can remain hidden until it's too late, and there was nothing that could be done. We were 14 hours away and would not have made it home in time. Knowing that she wasn't alone means more to us than I can put into words. If I couldn't be there with her at the end, I am so grateful that she had a familiar and caring face by her side. We are absolutely heartbroken to have lost our baby, but we are incredibly grateful for the love, compassion, and quick action Musbro showed our family. I am especially thankful that they recognized the change in her behavior so quickly, got her the care she needed, and helped prevent her from suffering any longer than necessary. I have always recommended Musbro to others, and I will continue to do so. I wouldn't think twice about trusting them in the future. They treated our girl like she was their own, and for that, we will always be grateful. If you are looking for someone to care for your dog when you can't be there, I cannot recommend Musbro highly enough. Knowing how they cared for our girl when we were 14 hours away is something our family will never forget.

Realistic expectations that you have to be consistent, practice regularly and that it takes work to have a great dog. The technique is firm but fair and starts with the positives--praise and treats. How to use a correction collar properly and basic health and safety. Classes are a good size (not too many dogs) and they are on-going so you can continue at the next level in a similar time slot.
