This theater itself is very nice. I went during the holiday season for A Christmas Carol and had a really good time. There was a Christmas tree and lots of lights and wreaths for the holidays. (Yay!) The show itself was very fun. Great vocals and acting! The orchestra pit was okay ... I did see the conductor playing the trombone and directing the pit and stage at the same time though, and found that to be impressive! The food was okay ... I had the Vegetarian Shepherd's Pie and found it a little salty, and the sides were crusty. (Which means they probably microwaved the dish?!) Either way, the dish was okay, not great. The cocktail shrimp appetizer, on the other hand, was really tasty, but expensive! ($9 for six lousy pieces of shrimp.) The dessert was extremely rich and sweet. I had some kind of a pudding dessert, which came in a cup. I will say, though, that I had a lot of fun because of the person I went with, so thanks for the opportunity for me to spend time with my special someone, Candlelight! read more

The production was well done but orchestra out of tune. Saw West Side Story. The male lead was not believable as Tony... Too clean cut! Maria was lovely with beautiful voice and Anita was well done. The 2 stars is for the food. Cheapskate food. Salad small and iceberg, instant potatoes, frozen mixed veggies and meat was small portioned. Honestly... The food was billed as 1/3 of the cost of our ticket which is ludicrous. The dinner was maybe $4 worth of food. Not that great and detracts from the evening. There were 5 options... Chicken fried chix, arrozopollo, tomato soup, tuna casserole, a green salad. U can upgrade to 3 other entrees & were &13-14 more but those were not promising to us. Appetizers and desserts are small portions and extra$. We will not return unless to see show from balcony where u are not insulted with such bad food for too much $$. We loved this playhouse! My fiance and I went with two friends for a Sunday afternoon showing of Oklahoma! Dinner (lunch, really) was served around 12:30p. The service was great, and the food was fantastic. My fiance had the prime rib (he shared with me, and it was delicious), and I had southwestern shrimp scampi, which was also very good. The portions were generous. Dessert and more drinks were served at intermission, which was perfect timing. The show was also phenomenal - I was very impressed with the cast talent, and the lighting and acoustics were great. I wish they changed shows more often so we could return sooner - the next new show won't start for another 3 1/2 months, so we will have to wait until then to go back. And we definitely will go back!! read more

I saw the Wizard of Oz and this was a great version of the stage musical. The acting, singing, and directing were outstanding. The band was a little bit off, but perhaps with practice they could get better. It was the first night with the new kitchen and the food was pretty good. Absolutely looking forward to the next time we can return to the playhouse! Outstanding experience overall! My husband and I got tickets for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. We arrived early and they couldn't find our ticket. I had booked tickets for the week before! :( ah! The embarrassment! Anyway, they resolved my little number in a matter of 5 minutes (since we didn't show up for the booked play). I was amazed at their courtesy, they didn't even up charge us for the mistake. There was a large crowd waiting to be seated in the lobby but when it was time for the dinner to beggin, the Candlelight team escorted all the guests to our assigned tables in a heart beat. The tables were beautiful and clean, well decorated, and the menus easy to read. The waiting staff also happen to be the actors in the play so you see them running around in their persona during the intermission, serving desserts and coffee. I was a bit disappointed with the food, it wasn't bad but it wasn't great. Compared to the rest of the experience it was okay. I do understand they serve a very large crowd in a fast orderly manner, so that's why they're keeping their five stars. Overall it was an amazing night and I would recommend this experience to everyone. read more

The show was enjoyable, but the dinner dragged on forever. We arrived at 6pm as instructed, but didn't get any drinks until 6:30 and food until 7. The show didn't start until after 8, and when we found ourselves at only intermission at 9:45 we decided to leave. Next time we will probably attend a matinee to avoid the late night, and buy tickets only for the show so we can skip the food. read more

My Father bought tickets to dinner and a show for my birthday for the John Denver tribute show on April 10, 2019. We were all excited to order the IPA beer battered fish. BUT, when we recieved our dinner, it was a square fish stick, that was obviously a terrible fish mixture from a box. It was mushy, pale and not what was advertised. I commented to the server that it was not so great, but she did not resolve our issue at the time because the show was starting. I decided I would just call the next day, so I would not spoil our evening. On April 11th, I sent emails regarding the terrible fish dinner to the kitchen manager and the general manger, and I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY RESPONSE FROM ANYONE. I have sent a total of 5 emails and I have left several voicemails to the General Manager. (STILL NO RESPONSE) I believe this company does not care because they have repeat season ticket customers. Most of these customers are older - over 65 and they just ignore any complaints. read more

My only gripe is that the actors don't actually get a break during intermission because they are the servers! We just saw Guys and Dolls at the Candlelight Dinner Playhouse and it was outstanding! The lead performers were really good with great voices, and the supporting cast was also very good. Guys and Dolls is a fun show that you can take the whole family to. We loved that they used several real musicians and not just a sound track or very small combo. Would have liked for strings to have been added, but it was really nice to have live music in a day when they often skimp on it. We just went for the show only, so I can't comment on the dinner this time, but when we've been before, it was always good, and it's fun to be waited on by people in the cast. The Candlelight Dinner Playhouse is a great little place, and I hope people will continue to support it to keep this nice little local jewel in business. read more

Went and seen "Miracle on 34th Street" tonight. What a great experience. Wonderful cast, great food, professional staff whom double as the cast members. Priced fairly as well. My granddaughter and I enjoyed Cinderella today. A fun show and the staff were great. My only complaint was that the food was a bit fancy for my granddaughter. Having at least one more basic option would be helpful. There was another grandma and granddaughter at our table and they seemed to have a similar opinion. I went with my 90-year-old mom and my sister and her daughter for Mother's Day. We saw 42nd St. We have been season ticket holder's for a while now, and will be forever. It gives my mother great joy to go there. This time we were absolutely amazed and delighted at the quality of the show. I simply don't believe there are that many wonderful tap dancers available to show up on one stage! The actor who played Billy was our waiter, and we rooted him on with joy. Our beer battered cod was fantastic as were our veggies. We had great champagne, and for Mother's Day we even got a free Cosmo! Dessert was best of all, because we decided to get the whole chess pie. It was fantastic! So, that's why five stars. Thank you very much for all the enjoyment you've given us, Candlelight dinner theater. read more

I took Lynn here for her birthday and we both really had a great time. We've been to almost all of the local dinner theaters and found this one to be very nice. It is at least as good as any other dinner theater and certainly better than most of them. This dinner theater is in its third season so is very new and modern. The decor is very nice and inviting. All of the seating permits for great viewing of the play, so don't be bashful about selecting seats that are further from he stage. The actors/waiters/waitresses were very friendly and helpful and made for a ver nice evening of dinner and entertainment. I had their prime rib and it was excelent - some of the best prime rib I've had in a longggg time. Lynn had the salmon encroate and it was delicious as well. If you are looking for a nice evening out do not hesitate to consider the CandlelightDinner Theater. read more

Holiday Inn, not so much. We have been here 3-4 times prior to this show, all prior experiences have been pretty good, hence the 3 stars instead of 1. Our food was barely warm, rubbery chicken and blah sides tasted like school cafeteria food, not what we have come to expect at this venue. Service so-so. Show was also not up to expectations, possibly related to this being the day after Christmas. I must say, however, the highlight of the show was Annie Dwyer as the inn's meddling handywoman. Will we go back, probably, maybe show only next time. read more

Fair warning if you buy your tickets via groupon be sure to redeem them before the expiration date. Per the playhouse management there is zero tolerance policy. The office is closed Sunday and Monday so if it expires on sunday and call in on Tuesday when they are open you are screwed. Pretty sad that a small local operation has a worse experience than some of the mega sized corporations. read more

When my dad was giving me directions on how to get to Candlelight he said, "get off at Johnson's Corner and it's back behind the RV park." Ok, typically directions like that do not end up well. I was pleasantly surprised by the layout of Candlelight. You'd never know you were just off the highway behind an RV park. The tables are tiered so you can see the stage clearly while you are eating. The stage, acoustics, etc. are all decent. It's a pretty nice place. So why only 3 stars? Well, first, the food was not that great. Tickets are not cheap (but keep in mind they do include dinner), but then food options without an additional surcharge are not plentiful. I opted for the prime rib, which was an extra $13. Then my prime rib was not cooked medium as I had ordered it; it was closer to medium rare. I was hungry so I didn't complain. I also opted for a glass of wine (not included in ticket price) and piece of salted caramel crunch cake (also not included in ticket price). The cake was disappointing to say the least. Dry and flavorless. I ate the frosting off the side and a bit of the filling and then stopped because it was so not worth the calories. Second, the bathrooms. While the ladies room was very nice and it was certainly kept clean, it was poorly designed. The stall doors swing in and just barely miss the toilet doing so. This means you have to stand to the side of the toilet to open/close the door and there's not much room there. I banged my knee trying to get out of the stall. Along with theater, they also have concerts at times. I went for a big band jazz concert, so I cannot speak to the quality of the acting at the shows. And, given that I live in Denver, I doubt I would ever be up here for a show (DCPA is so much closer!). But, I did enjoy hearing the band. And, quite a few people even got up and danced on their brand new dance floor. read more

First off, there were three of us and when we show up we find out you share a table with strangers, which was just weird. The staff was gracious and moved us to our own table. The menu choices were very few and not very appetizing. We had a child with us and no one bothered to tell us they had a kids menu so we ordered her the chicken which was too spicy. Only after we heard the neighbor table ask for a kids menu did we find that out, they did replace her meal. The food left a lot to be desired. For the price of the ticket we were not impressed. No drinks are included, only water. The acting was good and made up for some of the disappointment with the food. Last night was a big disappointment. As season ticket holders of 4 tickets, usually one show a year is a disappointment. Last night was it! We arrived at 6:05 and were seated four rows back on the right, great seats and a great venue. Our food server, Andy, was attentive and pleasant. Our drink server waited 1/2 hour to take our orders. I think he was more interested in the acting part of his job than the serving part of his job. I watched as he visited other staff members in the Kitchen while we waited, and waited, and waited. Then he barely got our drinks to us when Andy took our food order. Brock, when drinking a gin Martini, it tastes best of sipped slowly before the food is served, because food alters the taste of the gin. So I rushed my Martini thinking that the food would show up very shortly. We waited, and waited and waited. Finally I asked Andy for our food status after everyone around us had been served and were getting their tables cleared. Andy went to the kitchen and retrieved our food. We did not get a chance to finish before the lights dimmed. When I asked to speak to the manager, she apologized and offered to comp our desert. Then Andy charged us for the desert, whats with that? Then the orchestra pit was hyped up and played sooo loud that you could not hear the words of the songs, which tells the story. I know its a musical, but the words of the songs are the story, not the overly loud orchestra pit. Then the voices could barely be heard from the fourth row, a couple of the featured artists did not have sound gear on and had to yell out their lines. They must of showed up late and all the wireless mikes were given out to the background male singers. I walked to the bathroom and the sound person had the headphones on but would be better served to hear what the audience heard which was a very low volume stage with a high volume orchestra pit. Because of the lack of being able to follow the story line with the loud orchestra pit, my normally attentive grandchildren fell asleep and may effect their desire to come back for the next show, when invited. The actors were great, the pit was the pits, the food service was lacking service, the bar server and service needs help understanding that you are selling a package, not just his acting skills and it looked like the boss was away and things just fell apart. Last night I spent $1,040.00 for next seasons tickets in addition to an extra $120.00 in upgrades and tips, but did not feel good about it! read more

Food is absolutely terrible here at Candle Light dinner theater. Forever Plaid 1-21-2017, was terrible. I've seen this twice over the years but this was the worst. The tenor was a teenager and couldn't sing above a C! Even the the audience applause was tepid at best. read more

We really loved Evita! The vocals were simply amazing! The did excellent casting with this show. I was shocked to see how empty it was. I felt bad that nearly two rows behind us were empty, we did go on a weeknight so that could be why. The seating was comfortable but we did get a little cold. They had a decent drink selection. I wasn't completely thrilled with the food. They did have options that were naturally gluten free, so I really can't complain. Maybe the upgraded options are better? Either way we'll be back! Can't wait for 42nd Street! It's my mom's favorite musical - she want to bring her tap students! read more

I would say come for the show and not the food. We saw "Into the Woods" with Debbie Boone as the witch. The show itself was good, although it felt like the second half kind of dragged a bit. The theater itself is rather elegantly appointed, and every table has a good view of the stage. The servers are actors in the show, and are very cordial and attentive. The musical score, stage background and props, and singing and acting were very good, and we definitely enjoyed that. The food was okay, definitely edible, but not very memorable. It kind of reminded me of cafeteria food. All in all, however, it was a very pleasant way to spend an evening. read more

We've been season ticket holders for 5 years now and it just gets better. Our first play there was 'Wizard of Oz' and we were hooked by the music and the acting. I've laughed at 'Clue' and cried at 'Phantom', regardless I've been entertained. We're known as regulars and greeted as friends. The service is wonderful and the staff always find time to chat for a minute between tables and acts. I always look forward to seeing who will be our servers. Worth the price for family time, good food, and superlative entertainment!! read more

Saw The Slipper and the Rose and thoroughly enjoyed it. Very family friendly, but you still get that "fancy" vibe. Price is very reasonable for what you get and the staff was all very friendly and attentive, even though we arrived a little late. The performers are also the wait staff. Usually I am very pleased with the productions here but Into the Woods - nothing against the talent - was just odd. We've been ticket season holders for over six years and have put up with the growing pains of various issues - food service late, gulping down our meal 15 minutes before curtain, questionable sound issues, et cetera - but we've always hung in there, continued to purchase season tickets and I've never written a bad review. However, I have serious issues with their customer loyalty. We purchased and reserved our seats in ADVANCE for this production only to be told months later that Debbie Boone would be performing on the date we had our reservations and if we wanted to keep our reservations we would have to cough up $40.00 PER PERSON to keep our seats. This was disgusting and disturbing treatment. There was NO compensation for changing our reservation (offer of a free appetizer would have made this a little more palatable). I would be very wary of the business practices of this establishment. New business manager or not, and I understand they want to make a profit, but to not recognize people who have been patronizing them happily with season tickets for over 5 years, even with all the previous issues, makes me skeptical on their other business decisions. Beware. Fun for a quick, enjoyable, albeit semi-expensive afternoon (I've never had any issue with the food) but we will watch for shows we want to see and book them ala carte instead of being screwed by their practice of "a special guest star" and you must pay more or rearrange your plans. Enjoyed the venue. Very classy, even if it's behind an RV dealer. The food was better than most, and a good selection.....with the addition of add on choices. Seating is comfortable and not crowded (like BDT). The actors were great and did a good job serving dinner as well. Pricey enough not to go often, but great for a treat or out of town guests. They have a large parking lot that is easily accessable for handicap. Looking forward to returning. read more

Have been many times for dinner and show, but disappointed in the performance only once before going to see EVITA last Fri. evening. The lead actress was not right for the part at all. Her screeching, loud voice was hurtful to the ears. You couldn't understand any words she sang....and many of the ensemble songs were nothing short of shouting. Further, the veal was poor quality and we never got beverages refilled. We had to stay around much longer after the show than we wanted to settle up our check. By the slight applause throughout the presentation, and certainly afterwards, I'd say everyone agreed. Probably our last money spent there. read more

I am new to the area and this dinner theater has it all. Easy to get to, easy to park, additional parking on side street. Nice personnel who greeted me, and showed me to my seat of which all seats have a GREAT VIEW of the stage. The food was fantastic. Cooked properly, the drinks and desserts were also excellent. The price for the drinks and desserts were par for the course. The cost of the ticket with the dinner was very acceptable. I paid 54.00 for dinner and the play Scrooge. Now for the stage props, NICELY DONE and quite versatile for the play in the changing acts. Basically no downtime between acts. The Orchestra well-rehearsed and so enjoyable to listen to and were quite the well factor. It was a well oiled between the orchestra and actors who were singing and the dancing. The actors were phenomenal! The noise factor was nonexistent and you could hear clearly the notes and the actors. I have been to many plays in the Chicago area and I have got to tell you the comfort level at this playhouse exceded some in Chicago. I was not on top of the person ahead of me or beside me. There is ample room to enjoy your meal and the play no matter what size you are. Overall 5+ star rating and I will return. read more

We have season tickets and enjoy going to each and every play. The acting is wonderful and it is great to have a theater closer to home! The food is very good compared to other theaters we have been to. It does get pricey if you upgrade but it is a treat for us every 3 months! She Love Me was a great play and one we haven't seen before. Looking forward to the next one! read more
