Complementary corn bread, amazing!
Mickenzee R.

We have been looking for a good breakfast spot and I think we finally found it. The Buttered Biscuit is the spot! The vibe of the restaurant is a little different but I think it's different in a good way and maybe how it was intended. We have seen lots of pictures of their complementary corn bread they give you with your entree so that alone is a reason enough to come give them a try! We both got the Grandpa Chicken Fried Steak, this was a 12 oz chicken fried steak smothered in gravy, 2 eggs, and potatoes of your choice with the cornbread of course. Everything was delicious! It came out hot and fresh. The cornbread is so good! I'd come back and order a plate of just that. It has a layer of sugar crystals on the top making it crispy and sweet, it's so good. The portions are huge here! We definitely plan to share the Grandpa Chicken Fried Steak next time because we both had leftovers which isn't the worst thing ever because it was all so good you'll want to eat it again the next day. We will definitely be back!

SOS to go with tater tots instead of the potatoes

Great service, great food! The SOS is my favorite. Place is always kept clean and well maintained. I hadn't been here in a couple years and I just remembered their gravy being the best I'd had. Glad I remembered because nothing has changed.

Hello? I went to The Buttered Biscuit when I was single, but I didn't come back since I got with my husband. We moved to Bonney Lake in 2020, but I never thought about bringing him here for breakfast. On a Friday morning after our child was off to school, I thought that it was a great opportunity to have for ourselves a breakfast date for adults, right? I suggested to the hubby let's go to Biscuit in Sumner. Surprisingly and also a good news at the time: he had never been there with his friend because those 2 were always busy having their manly breakfast at Charlie's Restaurant & Lounge in Puyallup. Thank goodness I chose a great morning to go to The Buttered Biscuit because this restaurant WILL BE JAMMED-PACK on the weekends. Everyone LOVES the food here. Ok, you have to pay attention to the PORTIONS: THEY ARE SO FREAKING BIG. I kid you NOT. My husband is 200 lbs, and he could barely even finish his Omelet, and I certainly couldn't finish my chicken fried steak. On top of that, the little appetizer (corn bread) was also hella huge, too. My iced-tea Mason Jar was so big that I could barely finish. I looked over to the next table.... The guy ordered Bloody Mary, but he could barely even finish his darn drink anyway. This place is INSANE with the food portion but so WORTH YOUR WHILE in Sumner. Just make sure you'll go for a long walk after you finish eating to melt away your tiredness, or you'd be guaranteed to take a nap afterward.

So this is the cutest little hidden gem. The restaurant is simple but nice. Nothing fancy, feels like a grandmas dining room. The music was nice! Our waiter Zach was nice as well. He made sure to refill our cups before they were empty and made sure to check in. The food was really good and they serve large portions so I suggest you eat first then go shopping so you can walk it off. Only suggestion is the Ruben sandwich bread be a bit thicker because it's a lot of meat and sauce with sauerkraut. Made the bread soggy pretty quickly. But I was also able to eat the filling the next day and it was still really good!! My mom enjoyed the shrimp and grits too. It's definitely a must come and try again. They have a lot of options on the menu, breakfast and lunch. The French fries are amazing!!

Just off the main road through the old part of town with all the gift shops and coffee spots. You have to do a little bit of a loop-di-loop to get around to it, there is a large parking lot when you do - depending how you come at it, you will only see a large burnt orange building - that's it. FYI the parking lot gets very full and yes, they get busy during peak hours, as one might expect from a brunch spot, on a weekend especially. The only reason I don't give full stars is that the food seems at first to have a lot of variety (huge menu) and yet it's really all variations on a theme in a way - milk, butter (well duh it's in the name), eggs. Every single thing is very filling lol. Like brunch on steroids. If you like to do a drink at brunch, this is your spot; in fact, the first thing when you walk in the door is the bar (cute décor all around). And the drink menu is huge with really funny creative names. The wait really was not bad at all. Everyone was very friendly - greeted us readily - and we were put on the waiting list. We sat outside where there is a covered patio of sorts, and were given a phone call in less than the originally estimated time. I *think* our server was Tom. He was also at the bar and he was very efficient. We really appreciated his on-the-spot attention to our table. Thank you!

This was my second time coming, and I am not even joking. It was better than the first! Our staff that took care of us was amazing attentive and had great recommendations. It was my partner's first time going and he can't wait to get back and try something else on the menu! Easily seated.Quick service and delicious food are definitely what we look for!

My hubby and I chose Tge Buttered Biscuitt in Sumner for our dinner date tonight. We were not disappointed! We were greeted by Gabby our waitress. It wasn't quite dinner time but they went above and beyond to accommodate us. My husband had the shrimp and grits and I had the Chicken Fettuccine. They were both fantastic! Gabby gave us both a slice of their homemade cornbread with their butter sauce. I thought I died and went to heaven. It was delicious. Our whole experience was just so pleasant great food! Great atmosphere! Great friendly service! We definitely will be back!

Cornbread with honey butter frosting

Today was the first time I heard of this restaurant and I can see why: it's tucked way behind other buildings in downtown Sumner and is not viewable from the Main Street...AT ALL. We arrived on a weekend, around 8:25 am, and were instructed to seat ourselves. There was no wait (although the place filled up around 9ish). The place is like an eclectic Maltby Cafe (if it were located in Florida). IYKYK. The staff is friendly and the menu is EXTENSIVE! So many excellent options to choose from! FYI....bring a warm coat or sweater as the place IS a bit chilly! So...I ordered the Chicken, Waffle & bacon wrap and my husband ordered the chicken fried steak. Prior to receiving our food, two women and their out of control children decided to seat themselves at the table right next to us...despite MANY available booths with better spacing. One of the kids then proceeded to yell, climb all over the place and cough all over the place while dripping snot. One of the moms must have seen the look of absolute disgust on my face and placed herself between me and her child....as we were literally seated right next to each other. Hoping I don't end up with any souvenirs from that visit (besides my leftovers). Our food arrived and it did NOT disappoint! The chicken, waffle & bacon wrap came with hot honey and was FABULOUS. I also love the way they cook their hashbrowns. My husband's chicken fried steak was HUGE and delicious! Exactly how we love chicken fried steak...Texas truck stop style. And that's not a bad thing. The gravy is what does it. Prior to that, the waitress brought us cornbread with honey butter frosting over the top. It was a little dry but once we ate from the middle, it was pretty good. All in all, the food is worth the "going out to eat/breakfast experience" price. Remember: you WILL have leftovers so it's like having two breakfasts.... Also, for those people that complained about a 45 minute wait in their posts....arriving early is key. If you've ever been to the Maltby Cafe or a Texas Road House on the weekend, you can expect to wait anywhere from 45 minutes up to nearly two hours for a table if you arrive after 9:30. We will definitely return. We just won't be sitting at the end table in the back.

Ok, I really don't want to post this review because I don't want TOO many people going there and preventing me from getting a table, but I simply can't let this place go without telling everyone about. Bottom line, best breakfast I've had in this area. Right up there with a place in Scottsdale and one near Key West for the best breakfast I've ever eaten. First off, right off of the main drag in Sumner, so cool area in general. Nice thing is this place is set behind that, so while it may not get the "cute factor" (my wife's thing, not mine), it has lots of parking and is easier to get in and out of on busy weekends. Young ladies at the front were friendly as we arrived and we could sit anywhere. Kind of has a dark, Tiki Basement vibe, so pretty plain in that regard. Wish it had a bit better lighting as these old eyes don't see the menu as well as they used to. Joann was our server and very nice with that, home town diner vibe to her. Gave great service throughout our time and checked back often as did the whole staff, refilling waters, soda's, coffee (at other tables) and taking away plates when the time was right. Lots of cool and unique things on the menu with the special today being a Philly Cheese Steak omelette which sounded great! Items also had cool names like the John Denver Omelette and something I'll try next time, the Harrison which is a scramble with eggs, chilli, cheese and spicy mac n cheese. Sounds bad and great all at the same time! Large menu with lots of egg dishes, pancake types, french toast and crepes so everyone will have something. Wife had the John Denver and loved it, I had the "Kevorkian" which was all meat omelette with Kielbasa which was a great add! We also always try a Pancake wherever we go so got a single pancake which was huge! Joann took our order and said she'd "bring out our Cornbread" Thought that was odd but Ok. Why have I never been told about this "Cornbread". It's CornCake and huge and we each got one. I'll upload a pic later. It had some kind of butter that I think was frosting and it was amazing, but gigantic! Could just eat that! The crust on the cornbread had a dusting of sugar which made that part even better. Breakfast came and I like to see how things stand alone, so had the eggs by themselves first, and they were good on their own so off to a good start. The meats inside were great and just the right amount of melty cheese inside. Perfectly cooked but also huge! Seemed like 4 or 5 eggs. I'm a shredded hashbrown guy and usually don't care for places "breakfast potatoes" but these were fantastic. Small chunks, well cooked to a perfect crispness and well seasoned. I was very pleasantly surprised and ate more of them that I expected to! Another sign of a good breakfast place is the salsa. Must be homemade, don't slip me that Pace Picante crap, and theirs was homemade and really good. Lastly the pancake. Again, I always take a bite by itself before the toppings and this one was very good. It had a sweetness to it beyond the powdered sugar dusting on top so must use extra sugar in their recipe or a lot of vanilla but it was very good on its own. They also had soft butter to go on top and carried peanut butter, which I appreciated. Overall, every piece of food was awesome and service was great. For those wondering, two diet pops, two Omelettes, a pancake for us and one to go, and the cornbread all came to $72. Not great, not terrible these days. Kind of thought $5/ea for diet pop was a bit much but free refills and that's splitting hairs a bit. Now that I've had a standby (meat omelette) I'll be going back and trying some of their unique dishes as well. Hear they have a good lunch menu and new dinner menu so will need to try that also. Anyway, I'd run, not walk here for breakfast. I'm shocked by the negative reviews, honestly.

My son's soaked shirt the bus boy spilled an entire cup of water on.

Store Visit: Saturday, May 10th, after 11am 45 Minute Wait We really had high hopes for this place and were looking forward to the first time visit but unfortunately we'll never go there again. Bus boy came by after we were seated. He spilled an entire ice cold cup of water on my 6 year old son's shirt. Completely drenched. We had to take his shirt off. No apology. Bus boy more concerned over cleaning the ground and table than grabbing a manager and letting them know what happened so they could remedy the situation. Ten minutes later were approached by our waitress who looks right at my shirtless boy and makes an assumption that "he had a spill" in a very sarcastic voice. We place our order and she leaves. Not friendly in the least. Here's the cherry on the top, after placing our order my other son takes a drink of water out of the cup in the attached pictures. He spits out of his mouth a big plastic piece of trash that he choked on. This was in the water they gave to us. Disgusting. That sealed the deal. No manager ever came by and addressed the water spill situation, no apology. The water trashy cup, the not so kind waitress. We had to go up front and complain to the hostess just to address the situations. No manager ever came over to us even when we were up front. *They offered to comp our meal at the very end but it was too late. Would you continue to stay after all of that? Maybe, but not us. I understand people have off days. But having worked in the service industry myself, you remedy the situation. That did NOT happen. Extremely disappointed with this place. Would not recommend.

I hadn't been here in a few years... We were told to seat ourselves and there were quite a few empty tables when we got there. Our server was super friendly. The cornbread is huge, like a piece of cake, it didn't tastes as good as I remembered but was still great. The grandma's chicken fried steak meal is still enormous. It is definitely greasy but the flavor was good. The biggest issue is how loud it got and was difficult to have a conversation over all the noise. But overall it was a nice visit to the Buttered Biscuit.
