I would come to find out that they no longer use cooper sharp (which is why this is a 4 and not a 5 rating), but I wanted to try this out either way. So in the middle of nowhere...this is a good steak. Plenty of meat and it was tender and seasoned nicely. The cheese sauce they make here went nicely on the sandwich and the seeded semolina was a good roll. It was not a Philly or NYC quality roll, but it was good. Price was about what I'd expect. The only thing I would recommend is that you ask for salt and pepper in any Boars Head Cold Cuts because Boars Head doesn't add salt to their meats, which is actually a good thing. Steve and Irene's is a mom and pop shop that has been in business for more than 40 years, and has been voted "best hoagie" in the valley for 10+ years. Nonetheless, I hesitated because they're located a few towns over, and would require someone to drive to go to pick them up. We reviewed their menu on-line, and called in an order for four 12" hoagies for four adults. The restaurant offers both 12" and 24" hoagies; they don't sell our usual smaller 6" ones. My husband ordered the Cheesesteak Special ($11.50), which includes green peppers, fried onions, mushrooms, and marinara sauce, while I chose an Eggplant Parmesan ($10.75). Others ordered a Corned Beef Reuben ($12.00), with sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, and thousand island dressing, and a regular cheesesteak ($10.95). In retrospect, my husband and I should've ordered only one hoagie as the quantities were large and we ending up splitting one for dinner and ate the other one the next day. Of the two, we enjoyed the Cheesesteak Special more than the Eggplant Parmesan, largely because we prefer a hoagie with A-LOT of fillings and toppings and the cheesesteak had more.
