They serve classic all beef, grilled, hot dogs with any of the following items kosher New York City sauerkraut, freshly grilled onions and peppers, spicy pepper relish, onions, classic pickle relish, Nancy's mustard, and of course ketchup and yellow mustard. They even have veal dogs, Italian pork sausages, and chicken spiedies (grilled chicken cubes in a hotdog bun -- spiedies are an upstate NY invention). I have tried all of these options and they are all fantastic, but I am a purest and love the kosher all beef dog with grilled peppers and a touch of sauerkraut the best. You can also purchase frito-lay bags of chips and bottled/canned drinks. He uses local wieners ...tee hee....from Hofmann's franks based out of Syracuse New York. Lou notes that he thinks that "central New Yorkers prefer the grilled flavor to the classic New York city steamed or boiled hot dogs." This is why he switched to a gas powered grill in 2001. I can't agree more, I love the grill. Lou is super friendly, and he'll chat with you as he prepares your dogs. Its $2 per hot dog. One dog is a great snack, 2 dogs or 1 chicken spiedie is a great meal. I never "plan" to eat here as the hours are dependent on the wether, I usually see them while walking around the commons and can't resist.

I'm surprised there aren't more reviews. The food is fantastic. The prices ($3 for sausage with…read morepeppers and onions?!?!) are incredible, and Lou is an extremely nice guy.

Now this is not the original location, the original location was on the corner of 315 and Main Street, it was just a little, basically a shack you walked up o and they were only open in the summertime. Now you can taste their legendary sauce no matter what season it is. Now the first thing I love about this place is that from what I was told by the owner, I am the first person to do a review here. If I remember I will link that 1st video. The second thing I love about this place is that they serve fresh cut fries, they were hot and delicious. Now they serve footlongs, I ordered two, one with mustard and onions, and the other was their signature chili, mustard, and onions. As per the video you see he does not skimp on the toppings. These were good tasting dogs, the buns felt like they were steamed. Definitely a great recommended choice. I arrived in New Brunswick by train, which is to say I trusted the machinery of civilization to…read moredeliver me to lunch. It did. A short walk later, I found myself at Destination Dogs, a place I had seen in photographs that suggested capaciousness. In reality, it is smaller.  This is not a complaint, just an observation.  I remember once hearing something about the contents of small packages. At 12:30 the place was full. Packed with humanity and appetite. I was seated quickly, as if someone had anticipated my hunger in advance. From the bar came the sound of construction crews discussing their midday rituals. Apparently this is where they come on Fridays, to repair themselves while they repair the city. It explained everything. Service was swift and attentive, a minor miracle given the crowd. I began with a Scotch egg, an item that seemed to have wandered in from another story entirely. I ordered it for that reason. I had always imagined my first Scotch egg would be eaten in an English pub under low ceilings and older regrets. Instead, here it was. Perfectly crisp, warm, and generous. The universe does not ask for permission. Then came the main event. The menu is an atlas of hot dogs. Domestic. International. Proteins in tube form arranged like possibilities. There is even an invitation to build your own, which I accepted. I attempted to recreate a favorite from Crif Dogs, a thing called the Spicy Redneck. Bacon wrapped dog. Pickled jalapenos. Coleslaw. Simple in theory. Destination Dogs improved upon it in every way that matters. The bacon crisped with purpose. The jalapenos spoke clearly. The coleslaw behaved. The hot dog itself seemed proud to be there. All of this, plus a 16 ounce beer, cost me about twenty five dollars with tip. A small price for order in a chaotic universe. Five stars. Not because perfection exists, but because this comes close enough to make the argument.

Listen, I have no real complaints. The food was great. The service was great. The atmosphere was…read moregood. But I am a fan of constructive criticism. I had the Gandolfi. It was delish but it could be improved with more or larger pepperonis. Also the sausage to bun ratio was off. Either make the sausage bigger or the bun smaller. Bottom line, you'll enjoy your food and beer.
