Recently drove by The Burger Boy and decided to look it up on Yelp to see how it fared. Seeing the reviews my family and I decided we needed to check it out. First off, the people there were super nice and helpful. Prices were GREAT. Very reasonably priced with a good amount of food. Large burgers that taste awesome. That's means a lot concluding I'm not really one that just wants to go to a burger. No, the building isn't anything fancy or top of the line however the food is! We will definitely be back and we can't wait to try additional items like the shakes, appetizers, and even breakfast. Yeah, being on Conroe's east side it's on the "wrong side of the tracks", and the inside probably hasn't had an update since it opened in 1981. I'm from Seattle and visiting family. I was told this was "the best burger in town" We ordered cheeseburgers, fries, deep fried mushroom (labeled "big mushrooms ") a chocolate shake, and a Diet Coke. We also asked for tartar sauce. The shake was great. The burger was AMAZING. The fries were good. A little greasy. The tartar was bland and had no pickle in it. The mushrooms were big indeed but the reading was tasteless. My advice is to order a burger fries and a shake. The Diet Coke was HUGE! Dining options in Conroe are limited. Burger Fresh was the talk of the town at one point after their vaunted Texas Monthly status, but their quality has fizzled out. Many of the locals kept suggesting Burger Boy on E. Davis as the best in town. Time to find out. My first encounter here, we drove up to the restaurant located on 105 across from the new Fiesta. Place looks pretty rundown and my wife refused to get out of the car. This next time, I went by myself. Definitely your proverbial hole-in-the-wall grease joint. Everybody in the restaurant is very friendly. They have a rather large and respectable menu offering a wide range of items beyond just burgers and fries. Chicken fried steak, gyros, pork chop sandwiches, I didn't know where to begin. Opted to try out a cheeseburger to see if they can do a simple burger right. While waiting for my food, the decor is pretty divey. Reminiscent of an old Dairy Queen from the 1960s. Food comes out quickly. Before me, behold, a nice looking burger with greasy buns. This doesn't look healthy, and dammit, it shouldn't be. The patties aren't thick, but has a nice crumbly texture to it. Topped with cheese, onions, lettuce, and mayo, looks and smells good! One bite into it and I've found my new favorite burger in Conroe. The meat is nice and juicy. Has good flavor. While the greasy bun was a nice touch, it was still a bit dry and could've been better. Overall, it's a fine burger. And the hot curly fries to go with it, so nice, crispy, and delish! I forgot to mention, the burgers here are dirt cheap! I can't remember when was the last time I paid less than $10 for a burger! Move over Burger Fresh, I've found a new fave in Burger Boy! Can't wait to try out more of their menu. The internet says this is THE BEST burger joint in Conroe. The internet is wrong! First off this place is filthy. Dirty tables, floors and fixtures. There was ketchup all of the napkin dispensers. The bottom bun of my burger was hella soggy. As if the cook dropped it in water or something. When I asked for a refill on my tea, the ice machine was covered in MOLD!! The ice scoop they use, they just throw back into the bin. Cross contamination at its finest. While I was there I read a newspaper clipping on the wall. You often hear how the "hole in the wall" joint has the best food. This is one of those places. Very unassuming on the outside. Looks like an older burger building. Just short of a few dozen seats (and if they were all taken, it'd be extremely hard to move around in there). The bathroom is outside. They do have a drive thru, but unless you're taking your burgers home to eat, it's best to go find one of those few seats and eat it there. The burgers are very good. I've ordered the "special" that's up in the window for I don't know how long. It's a double burger on a special bun with Monterey Jack cheese, jalapeños, and other stuff. You can get regular or spicy (not hot) fries. Even better, if you haven't stuffed yourself, get a shake/malt. You win be disappointed! We often forget about this place since it's east of downtown Conroe and so it's off our beaten path, but we are always happy when we remember!! You will be too. read more

Yikes! I pulled in here due to the 4 star reviews. As someone who does a lot of burger comparison, this place made me want to love it, it's a hole in the wall in a sketchy area, perfect foundation for a hidden gym. The veggies are fair, buns are ok, but the hamburger meat is plain frozen meat cooked on a silver grill, leaving it both watery and tasteless. No seasoning, not even salt. Same with the fries, I ordered chili cheese fries, same thing, chili was just plain bad, tasted watered down somehow. Simply seasoning their burgers would change the entire flavor profile. But even then, I probably won't be back since the Original Superburger is right around the corner in Willis, a top 5 for the entire Houston area. It's just not in the same league. Hadn't been here for a while, but found my way back a couple times just recently. The Big Ol Boy burger is awesome! Cheese, jalapenos, mushrooms, and big ol patty. Very tasty. Onion rings are solid and good. Fries are good too. Another visit I tried the Philly Cheesesteak, that was amazing! Had a nice spicy kick to it from jalapenos. The cheese and meat and grilled onions and jalapenos melded together wonderfully. The ciabatta bun it was on was very tasty and had a nice crunch where the greasy goodness hadn't fully permeated. All in all still a solid choice in Conroe! Great to be able to come to a place for years and years and it remain great, if not greater! read more
