The host and management staff at THE brinkerhoff are disrespectful and prejudiced. They informed us that we were violating their dress code by wearing a head covering. We informed them it was for religious purposes and they told us they had rules and we could only sit outside. This is unacceptable discriminatory behavior. We have worn head coverings multiple times prior to this occasion at their establishment and never had issues until today. This is unacceptable. This is castle rock not Beverley Hills. read more

Upscale but not over priced. Drinks - hubby had the IPA. I tried the Jackie O and Ritz Serendipity. The family barrel drink is tequila (we thought whiskey or bourbon) but did not try it - next time! Sushi - we tried the crispy rice spicy tuna (yum!), The Hawaiian (interesting flavors and the macadamia nut crunch was unique, really liked it), and The Hummingbird (good mix of flavors, more traditional style roll). Wedge salad was good - a lot of blue cheese crumbles, crispy, and fresh. Steak Florentine was delicious. Juicy and tender. Came with truffle fries. We also tried the bearanaise sauce - probably would have it with another steak next time. We toured the outside and saw a beautiful sunset and some rabbits. They are opening the other side bar soon for less formal dining and events - Bar Hummingbird. There is a bunch of outside seating for large groups or couples tables to soak in the view. Gorgeous! They also have dessert but we didn't try it. They have key lime pie, carrot cake, and tres leches. The service was efficient. Someone was always chdcking on us or grabbing plates to keep it moving. Ambiance, Service and Food were all very good. Someone mentioned that the website stated that the dress code was encouraged good taste. But in todays world- you will see people with nose rings, tattoos, tee shirts, ball caps, shorts and flip flops!!! With the sky high prices for everything, I suppose the restaurant is not going to be enforcing a dress code!! I hope the restaurant succeeds - but the owner is a rich oil man - and I have to assume that he can afford to operate it no matter what. Really wanted to love this place! Was so excited to try it and unfortunately was disappointed. Not with the ambience that is fantastic and our server was very nice. The price for what you get just doesn't make sense. This isn't the Sushi Den but charging those prices and this isn't Shananhan's but charging those prices. We had the Strip. It was average at best. The Sushi isn't that special either. The highlights were the Spanish Gin and Tonic and the Crab Salad. The rest of the menu is disjointed and the service was really slow!! My wife and I will give it one more chance but my guess is after the newness wears off this place will be in trouble if the food quality doesn't improve, the menu doesn't find a sweet spot and the prices don't come down. The restaurant was beautiful. Service was great. Exactly what you would expect from Brinkerhoff Hospitality. But the food was also what you expect from Brinkerhoff. The drink I ordered, Jackie 'O, was delicious, but $22 seems very pricey for Castle Rock. The burger was also good, but it was covered in raw red onion and the fries were truffle fries. Two very strong flavors that were not noted on the menu. That should be added. The $85 fatty New York strip was covered in something called Billionaire's butter and tasted like barbecued chicken. The USDA prime New York strip should be able to stand on its own and the chef should be able to enhance the meat flavor instead of hide it. It also had to be sent back because medium came out medium rare. We also ordered the coconut tuna roll. It was good, but you can't taste any of the ahi tuna. Mostly tasted like coconut. But the macadamia crunch was a really nice texture I've never experienced in sushi. Overall, great atmosphere to get a drink and chill, amazing service and staff, but just another overpriced, underdelivered, Castle Rock restaurant. read more

I booked The Brinkerhoff for my husband's birthday and the experience was....interesting--not the best, but slightly redeemed. It was myself, my husband, and our 14 month old son. I booked this reservation about a month in advance with a note that we need a high chair for my son. We arrive and the host says "We have you all checked in, but just to let you know we don't have high chairs." Thinking it was because they were newly opened and hadn't gotten their high chairs in yet or something, I said "Are you able to run next door to your sister restaurant Savina's and use one of theirs?" The host says "....no, sorry" After a moment of disbelief I ask "Is it your plan to ever get high chairs, or no?" Host says "No, it's not in our plan." ......mmkay. So we sit down at a booth with our son on our lap--not ideal for an entire dinner--contemplating if we should stay or go. A similar encounter happens with the hostess who seats us--no effort to accommodate at all. I made a comment about the situation and she says "sorry, way above my pay grade." We sit down and our server, Jake, was absolutely amazing. He was sympathetic of our situation and even offered to go next door to Savina's to get a high chair for us. He was the first person there who actually felt caring and accommodating. We order some drinks but it became clear we couldn't do this the entire dinner (baby sitting on our lap while we eat and drink). I ended up asking for the manager because I wanted to tell them about my experience so far. He came over--Sean was his name--and basically echoed the same sentiment as the host stand, which was "No high chairs and nothing we can do." I proceeded to let them know the situation: I booked this reservation a month in advance for my husband's birthday, put a note on the reservation about needing a high chair, and the unaccommodating nature of the host stand upon arrival. He listened, checked with the general manager/owner and they said "no, we're not willing to accommodate"--but we could go next door to Savina's if we wanted. I asked if they had a table ready for us to walk in since there is usually a wait, he went back to call/check, then came back saying there was a 45 min wait so as a result of the situation "they would accommodate and get a high chair from Savina's." We ended up staying and Jake our server was the best employee there, the food was good, but here's the bottom line: IF YOUR RESTAURANT IS NOT KID FRIENDLY, YOU NEED TO SAY IT SOMEWHERE--ANYWHERE! It's not online anywhere as of writing this review--not on the website, not yelp, not Google, not anywhere. Had someone seen our note on the reservation about needing a high chair and called us saying they couldn't accommodate, then fine! We will make a different reservation and go elsewhere--no big deal. Or even upon arrival, if the host or manager said "We can't accommodate but we called our sister restaurant Savina's who can take you right now" then even that is some sort of effort to accommodate given the situation. But for the host AND manager to be entirely unhelpful and accommodating? Not good. Very bad experience. I can understand and appreciate the concept of an adult-centric, non-kid friendly restaurant--there are many out there--but The Brinkerhoff does not state this on their website, on yelp, or anywhere online. Further, if you see a note on the reservation that we are requesting a high chair, maybe call us and let us know the situation so we can make alternate plans BEFORE we arrive. Just an interesting experience all around--fine food, nice environment, but not what I would call a restaurant focused on hospitality. TLDR: *Lack of focus and dedication to true hospitality *NOT KID FRIENDLY--and this is noted nowhere on their website, yelp, etc. (lack of info is not what you'd expect from an experienced restaurant group??) *Unaccommodating staff and ownership (exception was our server Jake who was amazing) *Good food, not phenomenal (honestly, on par with Sierra, so just go there since they have much more friendly and accommodating staff) *Beautiful building and location (but doesn't make up for average staff and hospitality) Would we be back? We had dinner at The Brinkerhoff in Castle Rock and overall it was a very good experience. The restaurant itself is absolutely stunning a beautifully designed space that clearly aims for an upscale dining atmosphere. One minor disconnect was around expectations for attire. The restaurant promotes an "upscale dress / casual" standard during reservations and on their website, but that wasn't consistently reflected in the dining room. Guests in ball caps, T-shirts, and shorts were seated without issue. While it didn't detract from the meal, it did feel slightly out of sync with the otherwise refined setting. The food was solid across the board. The sushi was well prepared, the burrata was fine but not especially memorable, and the fillet was cooked to order. The béarnaise sauce was very good and paired nicely with the steak. Service was a strong point of the evening. Our server was polite, attentive, and professional throughout the meal, which added positively to the overall experience. The wine list is good and leans toward premium selections, but the by-the-glass experience didn't quite match the quality being presented. The glass of Châteauneuf-du-Pape we ordered showed noticeable oxidation, suggesting it had been opened previously. For those who truly enjoy wine, ordering a bottle may be the better option. Or be prepared to pay for an underwhelming glass. Overall, The Brinkerhoff offers a beautiful atmosphere, good food, and attentive service. The menu has a lot of different options and seems not quite focused on a specific theme. Went a couple of months ago with friends and we were very excited to try the restaurant. The restaurant is very beautiful and the view stunning. The restaurant was not crowded when we arrived and we were originally seated in a booth toward the back of the restaurant where we could not even see the views. The booth seat was too deep and at the wrong angle making it very uncomfortable for the 2 women who are petite. We could not touch the ground. We asked to move and were put at a table closer to the windows which was nice but the chairs were still not comfortable. Food was decent but when I asked if I could substitute rotisserie chicken for the buttermilk fried chicken on a salad, the waitress very rudely told me no with no explanation. When I asked later she said the kitchen doesn't allow substitutions. I don't think I've ever been told no in a restaurant before for something like this. It was very poor customer service especially for a higher end restaurant. It rubbed me the wrong way and between the poorly designed furniture, the rude waitstaff and the high prices, I will not be back. read more

So disappointed! We are regulars at La Loma, and Sierra is one of our favorite restaurants of all time. We wanted to try the Brinkerhoff, and we're so disappointed that we decided to leave before we were even seated. We made the reservation for three adults and one child requesting a highchair. The reservation was accepted. Our experience with the other restaurants owned by this group is that they always have great high chairs. We got there and we were escorted where it was extremely warm and there was no moving air, not even fans. We asked if we could dine inside and we got a booth much like Sierra's booth setup - and asked for a highchair - the that they did not supply high children were not welcome. We were getting together to honor the anniversary of my father's anniversary of passing - this was a special night, and we were unable to have our dinner there due to the lack of hospitality and the ability for my daughter to dine with us. Really really put a damper on the evening. Not happy at all. Reconsidering going to any of the restaurants that we love now due to our experience and the lack of ability to help us out with our reservation. If you do not accept children and do not have high chairs, then please do not accept the reservation with a child requesting a highchair. read more

We've been here a few times now but today prompted me to write a review. They were out of two main entrees by 5:30 pm (the short rib and the French dip sandwich), which is shocking. Last time in January we were there to celebrate a birthday and I was so excited for my friend to get a sparkler but they had a tiny candle for her - however today they're back to having sparklers. In January the burrata app was amazing so I ordered it today and it was not good - the tomatoes shouldn't have even been served with it as they were not ripe. The worst part about this restaurant though is their attitude towards children. They say they are kid friendly but they are not (we had called in advance to ensure they were ok with kids dining there and were assured yes, of course). In October they said high chairs were being ordered, which made sense since they had just opened. They still don't have high chairs five months later so pretty sure they're never coming. Also, the kids menu has meals that are the same price as an adult entree - $24 for a chicken sandwich where they remove ingredients to make it plain but they don't remove any dollars from the price. Also on prior visits the host staff has been super condescending to us about having a child and a high chair there - the wait staff and other guests seem to enjoy children but the host staff has a terrible attitude. Just be honest about your stance on children at your restaurant - don't say they're welcome but have small signals to show they're really not. You're a restaurant in the suburbs where families live so the condescension doesn't land well. read more
