Spent $4000 on a couch that only lasted a year. Thankfully I got the insurance but the process of getting a new couch has been painful. I had ordered some furniture back in November 2021. I did pick up the TV in January, and had the mattress delivered for a fee as I was moving into a new apt in February 2022. I had changed the sofa sleeper to a Drake model in early December 2021. To date I have not received the sofa. They keep moving the date and now I am told it could be early May 2022. I was patient all along, as it is beyond their control due to the weather, wash out roads, and trucker problems, but this is getting ridiculous. They kept putting off my order and telling me it wasn't in stock, and then would set up a delivery date and it would get cancelled. Poor communication, even when we went to talk to the store manager he just informed us that he can't do anything. I contacted help online and it was then delivered within 7 days, Something that this store wasn't able to do. When it was delivered they didn't even set up. All they did was bring in the boxes and then left. I got a call later stating that "the gentleman said he wanted to do it". Which was completely false. I'm not happy at all and will not be back. I have told other people about this and they had the same problem. read more

The Brick: Given Space to Breathe...and to Buy It's that time again...moving. Hate, don't enjoy it, not my thing. But as better opportunities come up, so do new places to live. Friends of mine bought a beautiful character home and offered their main floor as a new residency. Sadly, their home is a hell of a lot nicer than my furniture so I took the opportunity to do the "grown up" thing and spend money. THE ORDER: I haven't bought a lot of new couches. I usually go the futon or second-hand approach (hey, I was a radio guy and a student...both pay crap) but this time, I was going to do it right. I went to The Brick, a Canadian company with outlets all over the country. The minute we walked in, a staff member named Domingo welcomed us and let us know he'd be around if we had any questions. We walked to and fro, and back to to, until we settled on a tan couch and a bookshelf. Domingo suddenly appeared again, back to his office we went and the deal was done. I'm a step closer to respectable. THE SERVICE: From the moment we walked in to the store, to the moment we walked out, great service. We got there a little early in the morning so the store seemed to have more staff than furniture...but we weren't pounced on. We were immediately acknowledged, got a bit of information (there was a sale) and a little humour. Soon, we were left alone to wander and discuss on our own. What The Brick doesn't sell. Misleading? Some stores, when the staff aren't busy, fill the time by hovering. It comes off: A) like the staff aren't communicating to each other that customers have been spoken to, and B) as intrusive on the shopping experience. Not the case here at all. We walked around for 45 minutes (time we needed) without ever feeling like we couldn't get help right away. When we were ready...BAM! Hello, Domingo. We had a few problems including the fact we didn't need the furniture for a month and the store's sale was only on for that day. Quickly I learned the store will hold and deliver when I need my purchase and about putting 10% down to retain the sale (which I'm not penalized for if I change my mind). Domingo didn't sell, he solved. As soon as I had a concern, he had a solution. Now I have a couch. THE CONCLUSION: Going steady - This could be the beginning of something major. Brick, you gave me attention the moment we met, not too much but just enough. When I needed space, you gave it to me. And finally were there for me in the end. Me and you? We're good. read more

Rant: The older blonde who works at the Westshore Brick! when we said to you that we were only LOOKING at the end table and weren't sold on the $200 price for it (you'd think it would look more quality for the amount)... you said in a snippy tone, "well it's not like it's going to be cheaper!" and walked away as if to say "screw you, I'm not wasting my time if I'm not getting a high priced sale"... ... ... Little did you know, we did end up making a big purchase! Time to RAVE!!! - Dallas at this store is AMAZING! He was very friendly, easy to relate to, extremely well at multitasking, took the time to help us til the end and was extremely knowledgable about what we were interested in!!! His coworker (Matt or Mike: sorry, we are awful at names!) was super helpful and friendly too! Without the 2 guys, we would have taken our business elsewhere. If you're looking for great help, find these 2!!! ... stay away from the older blonde lady. We were previously warned about her, but decided that everyone deserves a chance! Three experiences all were bad, 1st time bought a couch and specifically asked if the pillows were included in the price, and they tried to charge for them. Both times after experienced bad service as well. Staff are all on commission so will do anything to convince you to buy. Not very knowledgeable on their products, and management is rude. read more

We bought a bunch of furniture here when we moved from Ontario. Big mistake, worse quality furniture i have ever bought. I also purchased the extended warranty, we were assured if there was ever a problem with the furniture it would be fixed or replaced. They just bounced our claim because they said the damage should have been reported within 30 days. Which is stupid.. pretty much every piece of furniture started braking after 4 to 5 months. They dismissed it as abuse. We practically don't let our kids on the furniture to protect it.. we're super careful no kidding, EVERY SINGLE PIECE OF FURNITURE (includes living room, dining room and bedroom stuff) is breaking apart. DON'T BUY from THE BRICK. Whatever you do. Don't believe me, check the quality, check other places, check prices, check IKEA. Save yourself the trouble and frustration. We're fixed for life. I bought a bed frame a few wks. ago, it was on clearance ,The lady that served me was fabulous. went over everything that she new was wrong with it, I was good with that. I paid over 700 for the bed. week later the bed comes and It has a broken peace that helps stabilizes the bed that I was not told about and not shown. I called to talk to them they said I had to talk to the manager. He informed me that was why it was on clearance...well why was that particular part not told to the customer at the point of sale. That is a big part.. Offered a very little refund to try and make the customer happy after having multiple attempts to get ahold of the manager and being sold something that was the way the customer expected to buy it, then told the customer he would call back when he has the paper work together for the refund.. now wks. later and no call back no refund, the brick lied about a product they sold. read more

So after not receiving our furniture when it was supposed to arrive, we were told that it would be there on Tuesday. Well today is Tuesday and when I called to see when it was going to arrive (my husband took the day off work for this), they said they had a note to call us when the dining table came in! No re-delivery was set up even though they said it would come today. This time I went directly to a manager and I will admit he was much more helpful and apologetic than the last people I talked to. We now have everything (except the table, which I still think is ridiculous) scheduled to be delivered on Saturday as we didn't want to take another day off work. This manager also gave us a store credit. I will use the credit and run!! Still will not shop there again. read more

Where do we begin. First thing I will state is that I will not buy from The Brick in Langford again. Apparently it takes me 3 bad experiences before I decide to take my business elsewhere. Back in February of 2011 me and my wife moved in to our first home together. We decided to buy a bedroom set for our son, a bedroom set for ourselves, a dining room table and a couch. We purchased them all from the Brick as we had a large gift card and we could pay the rest of the balance 12 months later. The sales person talked us in to buying an extended warranty for the couch. He explained that the warranty covered all kinds of issues including stain removal resulting from a pet. It sounded odd to me as they said if we paid to have it cleaned and it didn't come out then they would come and get it out. We took it and sure enough a few months later we needed to use it only to be told by The Brick that it does not cover cleaning of any kind. After complaining about it they stood their ground and nothing came of it. Flash forward to March 2013. We decided to move in to a town house which required us to buy a washer and dryer as well as a new Television stand. Back to the Brick we go as they were having a promotion where we could have no interest and no payments for 24 months. That fit our budget perfectly. We went in to look at washer and dryers and found a set that we liked at a great price. We told the sales man what we wanted and he proceded to fill out the paper work. When he came back to go over the agreement we noticed he had set us up for 15 months. When we pointed out the error he complained that it would be a lot of work to redo everything for 24 months. A point that is not my problem. He exclaimed that we would have to pay an admin fee to get the 24 months. We agreed and paid it. He came back and said it was all set. Flash forward another year and we decided that we wanted a new dining room table and chairs. Off to the Brick we went. We circled their store once without any member of the sales team greeting us or offering us assistance. We even had to pass inbetween a group of sales reps as they were having some sort of meeting. We then decided to circle the store a second time in the hopes that we would be approached and greeted. Same result and we left. I sent an email to the store later to provide feedback on our experience that day and heard nothing in return. Now comes June 2014. The Brick begins to call us demanding payments for our washer and dryer that we purchased in March 2013. We were confused as we had 24 straight months without payments or interest, now suddenly we had to make payements and owed interest. My wife went to the store to sort it out and was told that the manager was on a conference call and would not be out for an hour. She left her number and asked to be contacted and went back to work. 3 hours later she called the store and was advised that he was still in a meeting and he would call her when he was done. Later that evening I got home and called in to ask if he was done his meeting, this being 5 hours later, to which the rep explained that she already knew why I was calling and that she did not say one hour to my wife. Weird to just go in to defensive mode. Anyways the rep said that the manager was on vacation and that the acting manager had gone home. She also said that she was looking in to and that we didn't need to talk to the manager. She advised me that she started her shift the next day at 5pm and could call us back that evening. I advised that I was not willing to wait and that I wanted to talk to the manager as soon as he arrived in the store. She then said he was not in the next day but that the operations manager Brent was in and that he could talk to me. She said he was in at 9am. I thanked her and advised that I would call in the morning. 10am the next day I called and was advised that Brent would be in at 12pm that day. At this point I gave up on the store and called the corporate office for The Brick in Alberta. They advised me that they have an email address that takes customer complaints. I thanked them for the information and sent a very detailed rather emotional email to the address provided. Amazingly they got back to me rather quickly thanking me for my feedback and advising that the manager from that store would get back to me. Later that night we recieved a call from the Rep who actually sold us the products. He said that there was nothing he could do that we would have to talk to the manager of the store. Apparently they had forwareded my email directly to him, which I was not pleased by as it was written for a manger. Eventually the manager got back in touch with us and explained that everything looks like it was setup for a 15 month term and that there was nothing he could do. Have a nice day. I hope that you take this in to consideration if you choose to shop at the Brick in Langford. Thank you. read more

Waited for delivery at the tail end of the "2 hr timeline" only to see the mattress come off the truck. Nothing else. They had no idea where the rest of my order was. Went to purchase a dining set and was treated horrible by sales associate and manager. Worked out a purchase with a sales associate and came back the next day to make the purchase. The sales associate that we worked with the previous day was not in and the manager could not figure out the purchase we had previously worked out. Manager told my husband and I that we were trying to rip them off $300 and would not honour what the sales associate had previously said. Did not buy anything. Got a call a couple days later saying that the manager made a mistake and we could get the dining set for the price that we worked out with the sales associate. By this point I was so upset at how we were treated I did not want to buy at the Brick. I will never buy anything here again! read more

we were extremely disappointed and dissatisfied in the service Emily in " so called" customer service provided. We went there with great intentions to use our credit from the value back extended warranties from appliances we purchased 5 years ago. We have made many purchases from the Brick over the years and have always had good service, until now. This individual was condescending, actually asked us to call the warranty company rather than her following up and she basically accused us of canceling our warranty which we certainly had not. We asked her for the store phone number we originally purchased from in Kamloops BC phone number and she said there was no toll free, Brian quickly said we could use his desk and phone so we then followed up on our own to get resolution. We highly advise the Brick management that this employee receive appropriate customer service training before placing her in such an important position for customer satisfaction. If it wasn't for Brian H we would never set foot in that store again and believe me we would tell as many people as possible about our negative experience. Give Brian H the recognition he well deserves and Emily the appropriate performance management and skills training she needs. read more

This place is horrible. We went in to look for a couch and found one that we liked but needed to take the measurements to make sure it would fit our room properly. We put a deposit down and did all the paper work, once we were sitting down we started getting pressure to just purchase it that night as the store was closing soon but we needed to make sure it would fit. We took the measurements and found the couch would be a bit to large to fit comfortably. I went back the next to cancel my order, the salesman spotted me and walked up to me, greeted me with a smile on his face, I proceeded to tell him that we took the measurements and decided that the couch was a bit to big. The second he realized I was cancelling my order he interrupted me mid sentence said ok turned around and walked away and left me standing in the middle of the store lost for words. I had gone back willing to look around at other couches as well and I brought the measurements with me to do this but after him cutting me off and walking away not a chance. I had to go wait in line at the customer service desk go through 2 different people and about 20min to get my deposit back. I will never shop here again and would highly advise everyone to avoid the brick. All they care about is the sale. read more
