This is quite painful for me however since I have experienced the pain I would prefer that my fellow yelpers not do so. I struggled to find 2 stars however I did so because the hamburger I had was not terrible however it is not reason to experience the remainder of the restaurant which is less than stellar. To remain consistent please refer to my initial assessment of The Brass Tap in which I chastised others about criticizing the food in what was a beer establishment however in this case a mediocre hamburger in an abundance of restaurants that serve memorable hamburgers was the only thing that saved this establishment from one star. It is hot in Houston so cool spaces are appreciated however this was a bit short of a frigid wind tunnel. I withstood the ambiance in the hope the beer and hamburger night save it however this was simply a compounding of the error in which first and foremost was selecting the establishment. There was no service. It was mid-day on a Saturday there was no table service and despite many trips to the bar the bartender seemed enamored with 2 female customers which I am not faulting him for however assuming he was not the owner my guess is the owner would prefer him earning revenue rather than charm points. Given that there was one other party in the restaurant at this time I was likely the last to make the observation about substandard service. Do yourself and me a favor, find some redeeming values for The Brass Tap...I'll be watching. read more

This is a really cool spot. It was very clean and inviting, and there was ample space to sit comfortably whether in a group or solo. The staff was welcoming and polite, the bartender, Brian, was very nice, knowledgeable and accommodating. He recommended an amazing, brew, the Yellow Rose, it was crisp, light, and complimented the burger very well. I ordered from the lunch special ($10), a cheeseburger with fries but substituted the fries for the buffalo cauliflower for a dollar more; best decision ever!! Can't beat the quality for the price, the special goes until 2pm. The cauliflower is something I'd definitely go back for, it was absolutely delicious and tender with a nice kick, I couldn't stop eating it. The burger was juicy and undoubtedly one of the best burgers I've had in a while!! I highly recommend it! I'll definitely consider this place again and honestly can't wait to be back! We visited this location this past weekend. On the day we visited they were scheduled to close at 12 am. We tried to order food and were told the kitchen closes based on how many guest are in the bar. I never been to a bar that the kitchen closes 2 hrs early. While we were sitting in the bar the manager walked by three times and did not even have the courtesy to say hello or any type of greeting! She was too busy trying to close the bar early by having the staff mopping, raising tables and cleaning the bar within more than an hour early. Anyone in this type of atmosphere would not enjoy another drink as it felt rushed and unwelcome. Very dissatisfying to visit a local place near home when service and ambiance is like this. When The Brass Tap first opened near our home, we were super excited to have another convenient place to stop in for a drink and quick bite. We were pleasantly surprised at the food. Everything we've tried has been very tasty and well prepared. My favorite is the avocado burger, and the fish tacos are a close second. The service is always friendly and attentive, but not overbearing. We enjoy going to a place where they know us! Their events like single bingo are always fun with lots of participation. They have a big patio which is perfect for sunsets and this time of year (October) very comfortable to hang out. There are regular tables and comfortable patio furniture. Just left this place, not sure what's going on here, used to visit the establishment several times a week. Went out of the country for a few weeks and decided to have dinner. That was a mistake! Walked in the door and no staff came to the table for close to 15 mins. When she did, asked for water and a beer. Then ordered appetizers and main meal for two people. It went south after that! She never returned for 30 mins, by that time, the beer and water drank. She arrived back with appetizer and one meal. Then left, did not supply napkins or utensils. Asked for a beer giving her the brand and type. She returned and asked the type. Still didn't bring napkins or utensils. She returned with the napkins but no utensils or plates for the appetizer. Upon arrival we weren't greeted. I didn't like how we could actively see the waiters/waitress sitting at a table in their down time basically in the middle of the restaurant. The drinks were decent and food came out very fast. However the food wasn't seasoned at all, chicken tenders bland, "creole burger" with no taste of creole, wings were ok, and lastly the nachos came out with no cheese??? when we requested a side of queso it wasn't even warm. We sat down and after a while we had a waiter take our drink order. We ordered our food and it came out surprisingly quick. Ordered appetizer and it came out with the food, not before. Waiter never refilled our drinks. Mac & cheese bites are good, light. I had the pub burger and it was ok. Fries were good. My son liked his wings. Ambiance is just basic/regular bar, nothing special or unique. They have an outdoor area which is super close to the tollway, didn't want to hear/see all the traffic so we sat inside. I am really excited to have another place opening that is a new location of a chain from Midtown area. It is a welcomed addition. Overall, I gave this spot a 3 of 5 because the ambiance is a bit off, and the food was just OK. We got 3 flights, my date had 2 beers, and we shared 2 apps and an entree. For ambiance...they need to pick whether they're going to be a more casual date night bar, or an upscale beer garden. The lighting is super bright and the lines and colors are so clean. The feel doesn't match the menu or all the TVs which feel very "neighborhood bar" like. For food...the cheese curds were the best thing we had of what we ordered. The trio dip looked like it had been sitting a while and had a hard layer on top of the queso from the heat lamps. It also didn't give enough chips to finish the dips. The brussels were good, but could go without the cold sundried tomatoes on top. And the cheese in the Blackberry Farm grilled cheese wasn't even melted. It probably was the least gooey grilled cheese I've ever had. The flavors were good, but the textures were off without the melty goodness to hold it together. We went on Thursday (4/13) around 7 pm. They have game nights on Wednesday-Thursdays, 7pm-9pm. The game we played was Singo.....sooooo fun!! Music country, girl bands, 80s tune and pop...I am sure there are different games, but that was a few we played. Our first time playing it..loved and will definitely be back. We won one of the games, and you get a gift card to use on your next visit during game night. They whole bar sung happy birthday to me. That was so sweet and unexpected. I was like whoooahhh cool!!!!! Singo is basically musical bingo. The host Rick (with Challenge Entertainment) was great and had a very pleasant radio and game show voice - great vibes. This place is just a well run and very clean restaurant / bar. It is family run and the beer is ice cold. I saw them take every beer tap out to disinfect them. They do this every night. That is way more than most bars do. Maya is an amazing bartender and this place is the best bar I've been to in Katy and it's not even close. Also, they have tons of screens. We also ordered Parish GITM for comparison but I guess the keg has been opened for too long, so all the hop characters were disappeared.... Talked to a waitress about it and they offered a free half pour for compensation, which showed that they really care about the customers. Also, their gourmet cheese sandwiches are really good! Great food and HH menu. Love the ambiance as well. Service was slow, but there was only one waitress working and there were a bunch of tables, so not their fault. Ordered the buffalo cauliflower app which was good, could've been a bit more crispy but the flavor was nice. The portions were nice for the kids chicken tenders and fries (not on the menu but can ask for the little ones). I went with the blackened cod tacos which were very tasty and had a bite to them.
