If you are looking for a crab cake loaded with crab meat and not fillers, this is the place for you!!!! Wow! The crab meat is so chunky and plentiful on the sandwich! Served with a remoulade sauce that makes it the perfect sandwich! The sandwich is served with Ruffles. They could step it up a bit with Miss Vicky's chips and give you a choice but with a sandwich that good, they don't have too. The balcony view of Boca Ceiga Bay is the main attraction, since the place has shabby sports bar decor and a feel. The bartender was welcoming and attentive; the server was not. I expect drinks to be refreshed and the server to check back in 5 minutes to see that the order is okay. The fish fry was mostly a thick, hard coating, so the French fries would have been better without another coating. My Crab Reuben had 1/2 the crab in it than the two burly guys next to me. I was thinking my order was tagged for a woman diner, so they put in much less crab. The biggest disappointment was the rye bread, since it was full of caraway seeds instead of rye. Caraway is great with German sausages, but I did not care for it with Reuben. The final kick in the stomach was the charge check-out. The server watched me carefully and had the nerve to ask why I did not tip her. I like leaving cash tips, but this was the first time for this level of unprofessional rudeness. read more

We came here on our honeymoon, back before we lived here. We had the crab pretzel and it was so over the top good that we have talked about it ever since. So over years later, we finally went back to get it. It still holds up. It's still over the top, but in the best way. Hot cheesyness over a delicious crab salad on top of a thick pretzel. I literally have had nothing else on the menu. Haha. The pick up process was pretty smooth. The inside of the restaurant is LOUD! They could turn down the music some. The waiter at the bar yelled to a new guest and they did not hear him at all and walked right into the restaurant without waiting. The bar and entrance are not that far apart. After spending all day at the beach, my friends and I found ourselves famished. We decided to visit Pass-A-Grille Beach for the first time and really enjoyed ourselves. Thankfully we noticed a restaurant called The Brass Monkey right on the beach strip so we decided to give them a try before the long drive back home. Firstly, the service was great. We had the pleasure of being served by Margarettte (pronounced like margarita without the a at the end) who was exceptional. I ordered their Raven wings which they proclaimed to be best on the beach on their menu. I haven't eaten many wings from restaurants on the beach so have no clue if they are the best, but they were incredible. I would rate them a 9.5/ 10. Perfectly crispy on the outside while remaining tremendously juicy inside. The loaded fries should not be legal as they are dangerously good. The rest of my party dined on the crab pretzel, chicken tenders, and the crab cake entree with fries and creamed corn. Everyone reported their meal to be tasty and enjoyable. If you find yourself in need of an amazing meal with great service, The Brass Monkey is an excellent dining option. read more

It took them literally over an hour for my friends and I to receive our food. The food was simple easy items to cook. Like loaded fries, chicken fingers, and ahi tuna. Wait times were ridiculous and no manager came out to apologize about the wait. read more

The service was really good and fast. It was funny when I got here. There were people standing outside waiting for this restaurant to open. Meanwhile, I looked at the time and saw that it was 11:30 so I tried to open the door, and turns out that no one standing around tried to do that because I walked right in. When I went up the stairs, they said they were open if the doors were! Anyway, the spinach and artichoke dip I got was really good. There was a good amount of crab in there so I got my money's worth. I knew it came with crackers so I ordered some bread with it too and it was perfect together. The bread had great texture and perfect cooked so it's not too crispy or soft. The perfect type to use with a cheesy dip. I came here to go to the beach after a small meal and it was the perfect amount to have right before a walk along the beach. Elevator didn't work. No way for handicapped persons to get to the restaurant and they were so busy that I don't think the staff cared.

Fantastic location facing the beach and tons of space inside and outside with seating tables and view to tvs (everywhere!!). That is my kind of beach sports bar. The cocktails were fairly inexpensive and love the $2 PBR. AS for the food, we go the moneky ball apps and the crab cakes were very good. We asked where the shrimp and fish were from and the server said the Pacific Ocean (which I thought was very odd since we are right here on the gulf) so we didn't get that. The menu is standard bar food so we just had some fries with gravy which was yummy and called it a day. Will definitely be back for the view as we sat on the 2nd floor balcony and enjoyed being outside and still go to watch the game! read more

First time visitor although numerous people have told us to give it a try. Location is amazing, with great views of the Gulf. There is indoor and outdoor seating and the place isn't large, but fortunately at lunch time on a chilly day it wasn't crowded. The menu is extensive, with numerous appetizers, salads, sandwiches and entrees. There were 3 of us and we ordered the monkey balls appetizer which are crab cakes formed into balls and served with a sauce. There were 4 pieces and they were wonderful! Large pieces of crab, full of flavor and the sauce was a nice addition. I had the Asswoman Breast sandwich which was a chicken sandwich topped with crab dip and cheddar cheese. It was fabulous!!!!! The piece of chicken was large and was cooked perfectly. The crab dip on top had a super taste and the melted cheese just added another layer of yumminess. The sandwich was messy to eat, but worth every bit of messy. Service was also extremely good, with 2 people working the room, covering for each other and getting the job done. My real reason for only 4 stars was they had the TVs tuned into the George Bush funeral. It was very loud and a very strange thing to have airing in what I consider to be a sports bar. Ate here in 2012 on our honeymoon. The crab pretzel was so legendary that we talk about getting it every time we're in Pass-a-Grille since we moved to Tampa Bay. Finally went back yesterday and it still holds up! Crab, cheese, seasonings, and some sauce on top of a delicious soft pretzel, a perfect combination. I am foodie, not easily impressed and have brought very snobby seafood fans to this spot, Best Crab Cakes Ever! Constantly from people expecting it to be average. Don't walk away from your table or forget anything, because employees will STEAL YOUR BELONGINGS!! If you question them, they not only are defensive (out of guilt) but also will call the police and falsely say you're drunk/disorderly conduct and issue trespass warning. What an experience we had here. We had a wonderful time looking for shells with our family on the beach. We are visiting from California and learned earlier in the day that our family back home tested positive for covid. So we wore masks when we entered this business. We ordered a few drinks. Bartender asked to see ID, we show him. He mumbles something I can't quite make out to those nearby him (coworker and regulars?) who look at us and laugh, he makes us take off our masks for a long time, he then informs us more loudly that we are no longer in Oregon (not CA???). Then finally he hands back our IDs. The bartender then starts coughing as he pours our drinks. Saying to the nearby coworker "I just haven't been able to get rid of this cough, this cold has really messed with me these last couple weeks" he continues coughing (no mask) as he stares down at our drinks getting spit all over them. He makes us pay before handing us our drinks (very weird). We did not drink the drinks obviously, which is a shame because they looked very good. In hindsight we shouldn't have paid and should have just left but in the moment it didn't seem like an option. Anyway, I am not sure what to make of this, I can't quite tell if it was actually purposeful or if this bar is just generally quite gross. Either way 1/5 is the only appropriate rating. We went downstairs and got some coffee which was wonderful and the staff was nice. read more

How about 3.5 stars? I was very happy here but I wasn't wowed. There is a large second floor balcony for outdoor dining. If you're really smart you'll sit outside and watch the sunset from this great vantage point. Of course, there is also indoor dining which includes a bar and bar seating. I had a crab cake and it was one of the best crab cakes that I've ever eaten in life, it's a dish that they are known for. The crab cakes included large pieces of crab. Heck, the majority of the crab cake was large pieces of crab. This folks is the real deal. My side dishes were delish too. Customer service was good. read more

I've learned no one in FL is from FL so it shouldn't have been a shock to visit Pass a Grille beach and fall into a MARYLAND escape with Baltimore Ravens carpeting and reminders of my time living in the DC Metro area. Too funny. If you can, sit outside of course! Overlooking the beach you get the sea, the breeze, and good food. I love grouper so I had the grouper sandwich blackened. Y husband had a blue cheese topped burger and we split a basket of fries. I was not disappointed at all. The sandwich was cooked very well, the burger didn't seem to have a chance of not being eaten. Good service, good menu, lots of options both seafood and not. Even pizza and easy stuff for kids. You can't possibly have a bad time at the beach, may as well enjoy yourself at this restaurant while you're there. Plus side to me? Let's just say the view is awesome! Eating out on the upstairs patio, you can see the beach, ocean and everything that is going on. We have been here several times, after a day at the beach this is a good spot to eat and have a cold drink. The service is good. Although the food is alright, it's lacking any kind of 'I want to come back to this restaurant because the food is spectacular' kind of vibe. I ordered the potato skins, I asked for a replacement of ranch dressing instead of the sour cream and they charged me an extra $2 dollars. I figured that replacing something wouldn't mean an extra charge, plus I didn't want the bacon. So they are saving money on putting the bacon bits on my potatoes. Kind of seems like a little bit of a scam. I guess they are in hopes that the ones who are having cocktails won't notice the extra charges. There were some other trivial issues, but just trying to enjoy the day. We most likely will be back, but only because there are minimal choices of restaurants in the area. read more

The Brass Monkey is owned and run by a Maryland couple who had restaurants in Ocean city Maryland for years. We are Marylanders and have now been here twice, both on Sunday, both for Ravens games. This is a Ravens bar so be aware of that if you show up on game day. It will be loud. Florida has tons of places that offer "Maryland Style Crab cakes" but if you're from MD, then most will disappoint. We had the Monkey Balls which is a plate of four 2.5oz mini crab cakes. They were done right. Just as expected, seasoned with Old Bay, just how they would taste in MD. We also tried the steamed shrimp. The shrimp were huge (photo attached) and also prepared with Old Bay. We also had a couple of other appetizers for which we had no complaints. Beers were $15 for a bucket of five domestics. The bar has no taps so it's all bottles. A Newcastle Brown was $5. Those may be game-day prices. Not sure. Our server Anna was very attentive and did a great job. There is a outside balcony area overlooking the Gulf. If it's not too hot, sit out there and watch the sunset. It's amazing (photo attached). All-in-all, if you're from Maryland and in the area, it's worth a visit and if you're from anywhere else and crave a proper crab cake "like what they serve in Maryland, hon" I can highly recommend this place. WINGS AND DRINKS ALWAYS AMAZING!! I went there twice and the first time I ordered the buffalo chicken tenders w the old bay fries and the chicken was alright. The second, I got the old bay wings with old bay fries absolutely 10/10. The wings were huge and meaty I could not finish the 10 I ordered. Also the drinks at the bar are great.
