My family really loves it here, but for me I just cannot agree. I saw a few possible vegan options on their menu and thought it was be safe to eat there. Sienna was our server who was just so sweet and went above and beyond trying to help me find something to eat. Of course when in doubt, a salad is usually what I have to resort to. Which is totally fine but even the salad was such a let down. There was barely any lettuce and just mound of mushrooms. After eating straight onions and mushrooms I really just lost my appetite. On this particular visit, we ordered our food around 8:15 and it took almost an hour for just four of us. Sitting outside was nice, inside seems a bit stuffy and musty. Waiter had a bad attitude. Food was mediocre at best. Only good item was wings. Definitely payed way more for the quality i was receiving. Restaurant was as well off theme. Incredibly loud as well. We stumbled upon The Brass Monkey after one of our many beach outings. Upon our arrival we were told there would be a 10-20 minute wait which is not unusual for dinner beach front dining. We were seated quickly and greeted by a friendly wait staff member. We ordered a few drinks and an appetizer and enjoyed the sunset prior to ordering our main courses. Brought my kids, wife, and mom here on vacation for dinner after visiting a nice beach nearby, and sat down outside and immediately saw dolphins. That was worth the visit by itself. Awesome view! Now for the food. Drinks were delicious. Stuffed mushroom caps amazing. Colossal Shrimp awesome! Grouper Reuben - nah. Too much going on. Not a good ratio of fish to everything else. The fillet was way too small for the size of the sandwich. I ended up scraping off most of the cole slaw and dressing and the bread was soggy. Not trying to be negative at all. Came to visit in Florida from Colorado and Brass Monkey was recommended to me and my mom and it's delicious. And they have a balcony for you to sit and enjoy your food as you get a nice view of the ocean. And the workers are pretty nice too! I would recommend coming her for sure! read more

Who doesn't wanna have some food after a day at the beach? 8 of us came in to Brass monkey on Sunday at around 3 pm. We got separated into 2 tables because there was no wait this way, which we didn't mind. They have a BIG menu with a lot of items, and I actually think the menu is too busy with menu items stacking on each other. I think it would have been a nicer presentation if the menu was separated into 4 pages instead is 2 pages. I got Patrick's burger, which was $10. The burger patty was very big, it came with mushrooms onions tomato and lettuce, as well as chips. However, I did not expect the "chips" to be a bag of potato chips. I personally don't really like Lays potato chips, so that was a turn off. Other than the chips, everything was good. The food was good, and the waitress was nice. read more

Been coming here 20+ years. Food is --always good. Location is amazing. Service is always terrible. Never ever had good service. Teach your servers to speak to customers that are waiting to be waited on...understand they are busy but ACKNOWLEDGE that you know they are there vs. walking by MANY TIMES without saying a word. And teach to them to wait on those that were seated first...two other families were waited on first despite two of us being seated 10 mins before them. read more

This was our first time visiting this area. While visiting FL our cousin suggested we stop by. The view was beautiful and the weather was perfect. Unfortunately when we arrived, there weren't any more seats outside. The inside looks like your typical sports bar and the bartender/waiter was really nice and accommodating. Phenomenal confetti wings. Seriously legit. The combination of flavors at first seemed like it might be a crapshoot, but dang! They got my mouth watering now, for more! The hubbie had the Clam Imperial and was thrilled with the fresh green beans and the gritty yet refreshing flavor of the fresh clams. It was a tiny bar area, but suited our needs well as we were able to seat ourselves and get some dinner in our bellies very quickly. We really enjoyed the scenery from the Brass Monkey too. Perhaps worst restaurant experience at st Pete beach. Two of us ordered the Ahi appetizer. Mine was fine. My colleagues came out with a half bitten cracker and I mean only half of ONE cracker. Half the amount of Ahi. And. I soy sauce or lettuce as was supposed to be served. It was actually a plate the was returned. We told the waiter and he brought a plate out in 10 seconds. He knew what they did. We called the manager and they got very shitty with us. We told them we wanted the plate deducted from the bill. They refused and accused is of being drunk. They said we are drinking too much. We had three beers each. The manager was yelling and out of control. Telling us it was impossible for a dish to be served that way. We showed a picture and they got more angry. They told us they would call the cops. We said please do. The manager was a raging witch out of control. Not listening and protecting her kitchen. Then a bartender came over and acted like a world wrestling federation wrestler trying to intimidate us and told us we were wrong even before he knew what was going on. Even though the waiter agreed with us. They were irrational. Angry. Nasty. And LOUD. the food sucked anyway. We actually saw mice in the room and behind the bar. They had no interest in making things right. Out of control staff. Belligerent and unreasonable. The ambience is horrible. Crowded. Stinky. Moldy and miserable. Why would anyone eat here. A shithole. It's amazing that a "manager can't take responsibility and make things right. If I get sick tonight from eating a returned meal I will post more tomorrow after my doctors visit. I was in St. Pete on vacation and visited the Brass Monkey three times, having the Grouper Reuben. Each time it was amazing! Fresh from the broiler, piping hot! The owners were behind the bar and were very friendly. And, the location is second to none, across from the beach. read more

We were riding bikes and looking to get out of the rain. We came in for lunch. The food was great. I had the seafood chowder and the monkey balls. Both were very flavorful. The chowder had crab and shrimp. The monkey balls were mostly crab and not a lot of breading. My wife had the pizza. I wasn't expecting much of the pizza with so much of the menu being seafood items but I'll say that you can't go wrong with pizza if that's what you'd like. Our hostess did not come up to our table once to give us refills, or to say anything to why our food was taking so long. When the food came it was absolutely awful. We ended up eating hardly any. The Brass Monkey is a good dining option if you enjoy your typical bar fare. They have a fairly large menu, so if you're indecisive... good luck! Their grouper reuben and crab cake reuben seem to be their biggest sellers/most popular items. My fiance ordered the crab cake reuben and was in hog heaven. Oh, did I mention that they are a Maryland sports bar? Kind of funny because I didn't know that before entering and then I see a ton of Ravens and Orioles gear all around the bar. Thankfully, I spent 9 years in Maryland, so I was not too far out of my league. I ordered the mussels and asked for bread with no cheese (yay lactose-intolerance). The mussels and baking sauce were absolutely delicious, though slightly small in number compared to other similarly priced entrees. My sister ordered the grouper sandwich and blew through it pretty quickly. Overall a good experience for a beach bar in Pass-a-Grille. read more

Personally, I think all of these beach restaurants are over-priced with crappy food. But, we had guests in town that wanted to try this place out after a day at the beach. When you first walk in you have to walk upstairs to get to the hostess stand. Make sure to take a note of all the Baltimore Raven stuff everywhere- even the carpet on the stairs. We came on a Monday so it wasn't too busy and we were seated immediately. Unfortunately, we had a toddler with us and the hostess didn't even bother grabbing her a booster seat or a highchair and she just walked away. We actually had to go in a back room and grab it ourselves. For lunch, we got a variety of different things. Prices are pretty reasonable as long as you don't order any seafood. Honestly, I wouldn't waste my money on the seafood here if that's what you're looking for. We tried the Fish and Chips, Pepperoni Pizza, Patrick's Burger, and a few others. The fries were probably the best part of the meal. I did find it very odd that you couldn't substitute fries for chips, even for an up-charge. Also, the chips served with your meal are Lay's Potato Chips in a bag. I wasn't sure if this was because of COVID or if it's always this way but they should definitely start making their own chips. Our waitress also rang up the wrong item for one person in our group and instead of fixing it just said to let her know if he didn't like it. They also automatically add 20% gratuity onto the check- which is totally fine I normally tip at least 20% if not more. But, our server didn't mention it which I find a little bit questionable. read more

The staff were really nice and attentive! We went on a Sunday for brunch and it was delicious! We started with the Ahi Tuna and it was by far one of the best, it was seared perfectly! We shared the seafood sampler dish that had a crab ball, broiled grouper, and colossal shrimp, and two sides! It feeds 2, it's huge! Their menu looked really good, lots of choices! So a storm passing by stopped our beach day on Pass-A-Grill and landed us at the Brass Monkey (junkey, that funky monkey) Nice beach front location, would be perfect for sunset... I gotta say... I was born in Maryland I just had my own crab cake showdown on a business trip there in April. I tried the crab cake here at Brass Monkey, very skeptical, and WOW I was quite surprised! 'All killer no filler' for shore! Lump crab with just enough sticky egg/mayo/old bay to stick that sucker together- no bread crumb BS, no pepper or onions or other guck. Thumbs up. Go try it. Also had wings, tuna appetizer (great choice, light and bikini-friendly), fish dip (also good choice, smokey flavor with good toppers- I forgot to ask for Tabasco, don't make that mistake). The crab/cheese app was not my thing, too much mayo-saucy-cheese dripping mixture, no taste of crab and the choice of crackers just didn't pair well with it. My table mates chomped it up though Kids had a game room and 5 or 6$ meals. Although we always tip 20% or usually more, I appreciate that the server told us about auto gratuity. Food was mediocre, I don't know if it was because they were so busy on a Sunday at 8pm. Steak was bland, sister loved her scallops though. probably only reason it got 3 stars. Our waiter was the best they were slammed and he was working his butt off. Now as for the hostess, the most unpleasant person ever. You could just tell she hates her job. That's terrible as her snotty unpleasant face is the first thing you converse with when you arrive. I would still go back and give it another shot see if steak improved. read more

As a die-hard Steelers fan you better believe this place has to serve good food for me to come back! Why..if you've read other reviews, this is a Ravens restaurant. The idea of looking at Ray Lewis on the wall while I eat, well..isn't my first choice. : ) All football aside, this is a wonderful restaurant. I enjoy as much seafood as I can when we stay at our timeshare just up the beach each November. And Brass Monkey offers plenty of it. Perch tends to be pricy at most restaurants but Brass has it for a decent price, and it's a delicious cut. My son really enjoyed the crab pretzel too. You have two seating options, indoor or the roof patio, which we opted for. Open air and the Gulf in eyeshot, add in good food..this place is a fav for me. Purchased a $50 gift card from the bartender for my parents as a gift to try all the local restaurants when y they went to use the gift card they were told it was only $20 on the card and that it was an old card.they cut the card and gave them a new one for $20. totally ignoring the fact that it was $50. They kept the card and had lunch and paid with their own card. they then went back the next day with the receipt and and the new card that had been given showing that we purchase a $50 card and t they still don't believe it and say we must have had old card and there is nothing they could do. so the bartender sold old gift cards and pocketed the money and the manager was a total Ass about the whole situation. needles to say we will not be going back the food sucks anyhow. read more
