Get the brown stew chicken and thank me later! I love this place so much, it's been a weekly staple for me for idk how long. The flavors are precise and consistent. The platters are always full, saucy, and succulent never dry. The patties are so flaky, and the meat and rice and peas is always perfectly cooked. Only complaint I've ever had is more salt in the cabbage and that's not a complaint because it's still stellar. On tuesdays they have tacos, and the beef tips taco is worth every dollar. read more

First time coming to this location after the restaurant change up. The food did not disappoint. Everything we got was delicious! The ox tail and rice, I wish I had a full bowl full of it. It was my first time trying this dish and would totally get it again. The beef patty was warm and flaky though I wished it had a bit more filling. The food came out quick and they did take cards even though the signs said cash or cash app. The ordering process could be improved upon instead of using sticky notes. There is limited seating in the front so you can go back to the lounge to eat. Back there, there is a bar and seating more for conversation rather than eating. Chicken Wing Review: The flavor of these wings were next level. Every bite was so flavorful and tender. These wings seemed like they were stewed in the seasonings as they fell apart as you ate them as a good cooked rib would. The only fault to this way of cooking is you miss the crispy, crunchy skin and instead are left with an almost gummy like skin. read more

This is a brand new restaurant that has been attached to the Lounge. Since the lounge is well established, this new Restaurant has an abundance of customers. I believe I was told that today is their second day in business. Once they get over the new business teething problems I think Sid's Caribbean Grill will be a fine addition to St Petersburg cuisine. The food is spectacular. I ordered the large curry shrimp ($18.50). The dish has shrimp, yellow rice, cabbage, beans, and what appears to be a corn fritter. Definitely worth 5 stars...BUT: the takeout packaging used is too flimsy for the amount of food they give you! They definitely need to upgrade the takeout containers to reflect the price of their dishes. I think the present containers might be ok for some of the smaller dishes, but for the large meals they definitely need something more substantial. They also have to get a system in place to offer receipts to those who ask for it. I insisted on one and got a handwritten post-it note. Since they just opened I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. I'll come back in a month or so and we'll see if they can't get that 5th star. read more

Got the Large Jerk Chicken & WOW. Taste was outstanding & enough food to save a large portion for lunch tomorrow. Not sure what the fried thing that came on top was, but it was phenomenal (maybe plantain) I'll definitely be back to try more of their stuff very soon read more

We stopped by Sid's today for lunch. We used to enjoy their old location on Central Ave, so we knew what to expect. The next location is in the old Chiefs Creole spot on the corner of 22nd. We ordered jerk chicken and curry chicken to go. The food came up quickly. They are only accepting cash or cash app currently. We paid and were on our way. We dove in once we got home. Both the curry and the jerk chicken were just as good as they have always been. The jerk had some nice heat that was enjoyable. The rice, cabbage, and fry bread were perfect sides. This place just lost me as a customer. Their service sucks. I called in an order for 1 Curry Goat order and the person working the desk told me it would be ready in 7 min. When I arrived to pick up my order, he then tells me it will be 20-30 min until my order will be ready. I told him " Ok " so I go and wait in my car for 25 min. After waiting for 25 min, I then went back into the restaurant to get my order and now the guy tells me is gonna be about 15-20 min., I asked to speak to the owner and the guy tells me everyone is busy. This place is very unorganized. It's too bad that I had to give them this kind of review, because their food is good, but their customer service just down right sucks.. I guess now I'll be in search for a new Caribbean food joint that knows how to deliver on satisfying their customers promptly with honesty and integrity. read more

I want to preface this by saying we are easygoing, forgiving people who rarely complain, so it takes a lot for us to leave a review like this. I was especially excited going in after reading the chef's bio, which references Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons. I dined there back in the late 90s, and it remains one of the best meals of my life, right up there with dinner at Alain Ducasse in NYC. That pedigree set my expectations high, though not unrealistic ones. Unfortunately, the execution at Elliot Aster did not come close to living up to that lineage. **The good:** The team acknowledged our anniversary with a card at the table and a glass of champagne with dessert. The filet was cooked perfectly, the gnocchi was well done, and dessert was excellent. **The not so good:** Nearly everything else. Getting to the restaurant itself was confusing. There was no valet greeting, no doorman, and no signage in the lobby pointing us to Elliot Aster, so we had to ask the front desk for directions. Once seated, service was disorganized from start to finish. We ordered cocktails while waiting for our table, and they took 45 minutes to arrive, after multiple follow ups and having to close out a bar tab before the drinks even showed up. My martini arrived nothing like the version advertised (one plain olive instead of the three blue cheese stuffed olives pictured on their own Instagram). Later, at the bar, a port and a beer sat forgotten for 20+ minutes before our server realized he had never brought them over. Our entrees also arrived before we had finished our cocktails, which felt rushed rather than paced for a fine dining experience. The octopus starter was well seared but the flavor combination felt scattered, and the truffle sauce on my filet had almost no truffle flavor, especially disappointing given the chef's pedigree. One small but telling detail: the decorative olive trees hanging over our table were visibly dusty, which was distracting and not something you want to notice at a white tablecloth dinner. No server mentioned a signature dish, made a recommendation, or referenced a sommelier. We never saw one on the floor. I also want to mention the dress code, or lack thereof. We understand we are in Florida, and a laid back approach makes sense here. But asking guests not to wear shorts or t-shirts does not seem unreasonable for a restaurant at this level. Gym clothes, which we saw on more than one guest, is simply not acceptable at this tier of dining. Having worked in the restaurant industry myself, I understand things go wrong, but this was a long list of avoidable missteps, not one off bad luck. Given the chef's background and the promise it suggested, this was a real letdown. The bar itself is gorgeous, and we had genuinely hoped this would become a regular spot for us, especially given the lounge menu. We were hoping for something reminiscent of La Belle Vie in Minneapolis, a place that held a special spot in our hearts. Unfortunately, based on this visit, we cannot recommend Elliot Aster or The Vinoy.

The interior is elegant and exactly what you'd expect from an upscale restaurant. The appetizers were outstanding! Do yourself a favor and order the pork belly! It was easily one of the highlights of the meal. The mushroom pasta ended up being our favorite dish of the night and was absolutely delicious. The service was impeccable from start to finish. The staff provided excellent wine pairing recommendations that complemented our meal perfectly. While the cocktails didn't quite hit the mark for us, the wine selection more than made up for it. Overall, we had a very enjoyable dining experience and would definitely return.
