So many options, with so many toppings. Burgers are HUGE, juicy, well seasoned. Everything from tenders to peanut butter on a burger....you have to try it! Hot dogs are good too, they're fried so you get a nice crisp snap with every bite. Their sides are always delicious and great beer selection. And everything is reasonably priced for being in St Pete. Most of the seating is at the bar where you can find a good assortment of wine and beer. They offer some decent entrees, salads and appetizers too. Stick to the burgers! I got the mushroom ravioli because all the burgers had some spicy element to them or weren't my style and I knew I was taking a risk. Good but not great, seemed like their take on pasta and the sauce was watered down or added to. The burger was great according to my partner but obviously very hard to eat based on the size. We stopped in on Halloween night after flying in as it was one of the few places still open. It's medium-sized space with mostly bar seating and some tables inside. It's got the typical bar/bar food vibe. Service was attentive and friendly throughout the meal. I got the Black Flag and it was really tasty! A bit heavy on the Frank's Hot Sauce but overall I really enjoyed it. The cook on the actual meat was perfectly medium rare! That was the main thing that stood which was great. Any burger can be made vegetarian and so my gf got the Demi-God with impossible meat. This too was exceptional and very flavorful. Came to this restaurant on a whim and I would honestly rate this restaurant a 10 out of 10. Bella was our server and she was absolutely amazing. She recommended a local Tampa Bay gourd beer that was stellar! Additionally, she told us that the demigod burger and the Sriracha crusted hot wings were the most popular items so we tried those and they did not disappoint. The wings were so flavorful and they were the perfect size. The burger was so good even with the impossible patty. I also ordered the sweet potato fries with the honey mustard and I could have this time and time again. While in Tampa I Yelped a burger joint and engine 9 came up so we gave it a try. The atmosphere is bar type and parking is a little tough as there's construction in the area. We sat at the bar ordered a draft beer. I can't recall the name but it was very good. Service was attentive. My burger was the The Black flag cooked medium just as ordered. The burger was delicious. Tried four different burgers, and all were cooked perfectly to the right temperatures. Each had creative and flavorful toppings, which made for a fun tasting experience. We appreciated that the lettuce, tomato, pickles, and onions were served on the side. Both the curly fries and tater tots came out hot and crispy....definitely a highlight. In town for business so I of course had to try a place on the Yelp Top 100 Burgers. Because of construction in the area, parking was a little bit of a challenge but I found a nearby spot on the street after circling the block. That was the last thing that didn't go perfect. I chose a seat at the bar and very quickly was able to order The Heart Attack Burger - Fried Egg, Three Slices of American Cheese, Four Slices of Bacon, With Plenty of Chipotle Mayo. With 21 different burgers as well as the option to substitute a beyond burger patty and a portebella option for vegetarians, plus a couple of pescatarian options there is something for everyone. The menu is not limited to burgers but that was what I was here for so I didn't even really look at anything else. My burger was cooked perfectly to the requested medium well and with the chipotle mayo on the side. I forgot to ask for my egg to be fried hard like I prefer but it wasn't extremely runny so I was still pleased. Bacon was not too crisp that it crumbled but not chewy either, again pointing too that the cook knows what they are doing. Tots were perfectly crispy outside while remaining soft inside. Absolutely no complaints about the food! I can see why they have earned a spot on the Yelp Top 100 Burgers as well as the Best in Tampa Bay Metro area. Service was excellent! They also have been recognized as Best Sports Bar in Florida. I don't think there is a table or spot that doesn't have a view of multiple TVs without having to turn in your seat. His side of tater tots was crispy perfection, though fries and sweet potato fries were also tempting options. I opted for the Demigod--caramelized onions (done just right), sautéed mushrooms, three cheeses, and horseradish mayo. It was good, but after sneaking a bite of his, I'll admit he won! Intro: I stopped by Engine No. 9 for dinner and drinks with my buddy and his lady friend on a Friday evening. It was within walking distance from my hotel so I didn't pay attention to the parking situation. March Madness was happening while I was there so it was packed. Ambiance (3.5/5): Engine No 9 is a sports bar. The bar is U-shaped and there is bar stool seating at the bar. This is where we ended up sitting. There was a short wait when we arrived for seating at the bar. They also have tables at the edges of the restaurant. Engine No 9 is pretty narrow so it can get congested when it's busy as it was while we were there. And because the bar is U-shaped, depending on where you're sitting at the bar, you might not have a great view of the TVs. There are plenty of them, which is what you want at a sports bar, but there are some logistical challenges. Also, since I'm an old man, I appreciate when bar seating has some back support. They don't here. Food (4.5/5): I went with The Heart Attack Burger because I'm a fat kid at heart. Whenever I see an egg on a burger and multiple strips of bacon, it's a no-brainer in my book. They are known for their burgers at Engine No 9 and have an extensive selection. With your burger, you have the choice of regular fries, tater tots, or curly fries. I always appreciate options. I went with the curly fries (my friends went with the tots and regular fries). They remarked that I made the best selection after tasting the curly fries. I concurred. Drinks (4.5/5): They have an extensive beer list which is exactly what I look for at sports bars. They even had Delirium Tremens, my favorite beer and one that you don't find at most bars. Two thumbs up! Service (3.5/5): They were busy so the service was a bit slow. We had to flag down the bartender a few times. A bit understaffed for the number of people that were there which led to service that was friendly, but a little slow. Overall: When it comes to sports bars, I look for a couple of things: good food (better than standard pub fare), affordable drinks, an extensive beer list, comfortable season, lots of TVs, the sound on for games, and comfortable seating. Great feast at Engine no9! We entered on a Friday evening and there was available seating along the bar and in the back where there were tables for four. Each table came with a small TV (though on mute) so that was perfect because we wanted to watch a football game! This is your typical burger bar with a dive bar ambiance. I loved the options for the burgers- that's what makes this place so cool. There is a burger for everyone. Each burger is 8oz, so I shared the Heart Attack burger with a family member. It was tasty! My family members got the spicier burgers with ghost pepper and I will say those were spicy. Only order it if you can handle it! They both had a great flavor though so I had a few bites. Petersburg and not too flashy but bigger inside than it looks They have a small front room/bar area and additional seating in a back room where each table has its own TV The pacing here was very slow but the server was friendly & the food ended up being great so just plan for a long visit. From arrival to food was about 45 mins with food taking maybe 15 mins of that and then another 45 mins before we got the check. She did check us out quickly though once we gave her our card I got the bokor and it was delicious! The sauce is tangy and the bacon is soo good, just a little spicy! The brisket was ok but very fatty cut. The curly fries were great - like Arby's fries in color and texture. The bun was very buttery and looked so round, I was surprised haha My husband got the one bad pig and he loved it. He ordered his medium so I didn't end up trying it since this pregnant lady has to be safe than sorry Their menu has crazy burgers with all kinds of toppings from muenster cheese, cheese curds, jalapeno bacon, crawfish, fried chicken patty (on the beef burger yes), etc. Parking in downtown is a hope for the best. Great spot to grab a burger and/or brew! Server was very helpful and friendly and the ambiance was just right for what we were going for - chill but still some energy. Just the right volume of background noise to not feel too dead or too rowdy. Lots of TV's. Our drinks and bacon cheeseburger with curly fries were great. The wings coming out of the kitchen looked really good too. Our drinks came out super quick. Our burger was a bit slow to come out and we were starting to think it might have been forgotten when we saw it coming our way and inhaled it in about 10 seconds. If you're really hungry like we were, I'd recommend putting your food in as soon as you can - maybe before your drinks! But it wasn't a big issue at all and I would definitely come back and recommend Engine No 9 to anyone looking for a good burger and beer spot :) read more
