He was very welcoming and it felt like a true neighborhood bar. After a Mich Ultra, I dove into their Medium Rare, "World Champ Cheeseburger" with lettuce, tomato and grilled onions. Gotta say, it tastes just like what I make at home. When I go out to a restaurant. I expected to eat something that I'm not able to cook myself. These burgers have been around for 50 years and i find it hard to understand why. They are expensive for what they are and there's no meals for thr little guys either. Eh, just ok. I know this is a local staple, and even though there are so many other options around here, had to give it a try. Nothing was bad, just nothing stood out. They don't have a kids burger option which is frustrating. So you have to order a full size adult burger for $10 that does not include any sides. Typically, most places offer a kids meal with a drink, a small entree and aside for around $10. I also thought the burger was nothing special. Again, nothing to complain about, just lackluster. And I definitely thought it was expensive for what you get. A burger was about $11 and then if you add a side of onion rings that was another 8.25. So you're at $20 for an average burger and add a soda you're at $25. Service was fine. Our waitress literally asked us for our drink order before we had sat down in our seats. They also received our bill before we were finished which really is fine, but feel very rushed. With all the great places to eat in St. Pete, I could confidently say I will not be back. read more

We had received several recommendations to try this restaurant. There is plenty of parking in the rear of the property. We were greeted promptly and advised to sit anywhere we wanted. Menus were already at the table. Our drink order was promptly delivered and the service is swift. I ordered the World Champ Hamburger with mushrooms and swiss cheese. My dining companion ordered the World Champ Hamburger with lettuce, tomato, pickles and onions. The burgers were cooked to our preferences. We split an order of fries that were perfectly crispy. I had to repeat myself 4 times. Waitress repeated lettuce, onion, mustard, ketchup, onion, tomato? I said yes. I called and got nowhere. I had to repeat myself a few times. The girl that answered the phone told me I needed to be specific if everything doesn't mean lettuce, tomato pickle, ketchup, mustard, onion, relish, then I don't know what does. the woman on the other end of the phone said we don't put everything on a hotdog dog. Well what about the hamburgers???? How difficult is it to understand I wanted everything on all 3 items!! We don't put everything on a hotdog." I said if I say everything that means everything. I was expecting a fabulous burger but what I got was a decent burger on a tiny plate. The burger was cooked,properly but the plate was just a tad bigger than the burger. There was no seasoning on the burger or the tots. Burgers need at least salt and pepper before cooking to enhance the flavor.With lettuce, tomato and ketchup, the juice was running over the plate. The tots were hot, fresh and quite tasty. Service was friendly and attentive and this bar/grill was clean. The decor was pretty tired, it needs a renovation. They need bigger plates.
