They close weekdays at 5, not 5:30 as the photo indicates. Expensive as you will pay twice the rate in an airport for essentially a shoe shine. I am sure they are capable for total rehab jobs, but the cost may push you to just buy a new pair of shoes. I do not blame the owner for his price as there is not much competition and the lower cost shoes that people just burn through have made this profession a rarity. Too bad. I have called a few times to get a very caustic response on the phone. He can NEVER give any kind of price ranges for the easiest of jobs. Just a range to know whether it is worth my time to drive over or shop for new shoes. Once I stopped in to have shoes dyed for a wedding. He was so abrupt, so rude and unwilling to do any custom colors. So, I walked. Someone else did a much better job than I'm sure he would have done and in half the time he quoted. read more

There are reasons why so many gave this one or two stars. The person that runs the store is an elderly man, who is fairly rude to customers who wants to give him business! The repair done was below average, he did not hide the stitches so it looks fairly obvious from the outside. Would look elsewhere for repairs or sales. read more

Ok the owner is not the nicest BUT my family and I have brought some stuff here and he's done a good job. He has repaired shoes for my sisters and father and he fixed my Gucci bag when it broke. A rude, obnoxious old cur handles service at the store and I would not give him my money if my life depended on it, much less a simple pair of boots. You may have to go to downtown Albany to get your shoes repaired, but don't rely on this guy. I've as yet refrained from mentioning the banker's hours of the place and the outrageous pricing, but I agree with other people who have posted on both matters. I have never been so put off by a person providing a customer service than I was today. The old man had no interest in helping me from the moment I put my frye boots on the counter. His comments to me were so rude that I actually said, "I'm getting the sense that you have no interest in helping me, should I just go somewhere else"? He agreed and said that would be a good idea. After this, I was explaining to my husband and a stranger overheard my conversation and she politely asked if she could offer her comments to our conversation. She had the exact same experience and has heard from several other people who have had equally insulting experiences. Inconvenient hours, inflated pricing, slow service. I don't want to admit how many times I came to this business only to learn it was not open. Closed Sunday, closed Monday, and only open until 5:30 on Tues. - Fri. and until 1 on Saturday. Not good if you have a busy schedule. Went there on a Saturday to get the heel tips on 2 pairs of pumps replaced and was told it would take 45 minutes at the earliest. Knowing I had other errands to run and don't get back home until at least 5:30 after work I didn't leave the shoes for the work. Came one more time and got a price quote for the same requested service and the guy told me it would be $50! Moving here from the city I am used to a more abundant number of shoe repair shops and never have paid more then $15 (usually $10) to get tips replaced. I am not impresses. Do yourself a favor, go somewhere with more flexible hours and better pricing. read more

I had similar experience to reviewer Brian, yikes! The 'gentleman' who waited on me all three times I stopped in, is so unfriendly and unhelpful that it's actually confusing! Forget going in to just inquire about something and the price, the guy basically pleads the fifth! He won't help you understand what he is able to do or about what it may cost at all. Then just today I brought a new pair of boots there to have the width stretched a little (hoping he would not wait on me) unfortunately I got the same guy, he was so combative and uncooperative (for just a simple stretch!) that I just walked out. I have been here several times because I did not know of any other shoe repair location in Saratoga. The owner has the personality and customer service skills of a rock. FYI- even though there is no sign posted to the fact, he has a $15 minimum purchase for credit cards which IS illegal. The legal minimum (as set by the Finance Bill passing) is $10 or less and does not apply to Debit Card purchases as per the Consumer Protection Act of 2010. He refused to sell me an $8 item with my debit card and told me (a pregnant woman who drove from Saratoga to Clifton Park to get this) to find an ATM or "too bad." I'll never go back & am reporting him to MasterCard today. read more

I have had shoes and handbags repaired here and have always found the owner pleasant. He always chats about the weather and today mentioned he's looking forward to getting out in his garden. His prices are reasonable, I think, and he has always done an excellent repair job. Shoes I brought in today (Wed.) will be ready on Sat. No complaints here. read more

Have patronized this business two times. First time I went in the man seemed annoyed by me. Not at all friendly and "scolded" me for waiting so long to bring my boots in for repair. I was really put off by him, but there is no other shoe repair place in the area. So, next shoes I needed repaired I sent my husband in for me and he had the same experience. The guy seemed annoyed and as if he was being bothered. When my husband picked the boots up a week later, the man grabbed them from the back, tossed them onto the counter and walked away. I stopped in to The Bootery yesterday afternoon around lunch time. I had a pair of Coach heels and the heel stop on one had come off so that the only thing showing on the bottom of the heel was the screw. I stopped into The Bootery to see if I could find a heel stop in the retail portion of the shop. The shop itself is very small and when I walked in, there was no one at the counter, so I just started to peruse the retail items hanging on the wall. An older "gentlemen" (a term I use loosely as you will see in this review) came out of the back room and gruffly asked "what do you want." I explained that I was looking for heel stops for my shoes and before I could even explain, he cut me off and stated "I don't sell them here." I said, "oh, I figured that a shoe repair store would have them." He quickly and nastily said, "I didn't say I don't have them, I just don't sell them." Instead of saying he repairs heels, he treats me like I'm ignorant. So, I ignored his buffoonery attitude and simply asked how long does a repair take and he said "I don't know." I said, "okay, well, can you give me an estimate." He barked at me and said "when are you dropping them off." This was the type of exchange we had. I ended up leaving the store and telling him that he should brush up on on social graces. How does this guy stay in business? He is rude and not pleasant to deal with. He may be the only cobbler in Clifton Park, but I don't mind driving to Union Street in Schenectady or Stuyvesant Plaza to go to another cobbler just so that I don't have to deal with him. I was looking for a local place that could repair my son's favorite hiking boots. After reading some of the previous reviews but finding no other really convenient shop, I went to the Bootery. I couldn't have been more pleased with the professionalism of the proprietor. He assessed the boot's condition and estimated the repair costs, also recommending a conditioning spray that my son should use on them in the future. The boots will be ready in a week, quite reasonable I would say, considering that they require hand stitching. I will provide an update when I pick the repaired boots. read more
