College touring and WE HAVE TO EAT Stumbled upon The Boot Room while in Durham Sits in a strip mall .... Almost missed it It has a rustic, feel almost like an old biker spot We went in about lunchtime, and it wasn't too busy The person taking orders of a little weird, not really inviting The menu was very inviting though ... so it made it easy for us to make a decision on where to order We start off with a Nachos ... I'm gonna give them a 2 (I don't recommend) We ordered a Stevie G ... it's a chicken sandwich, tossed and buffalo sauce,... very good... I would give it a 10 I ordered the KLOPP sandwich ... which is their version of a Reuben (the meat was a little dry) I gave it a 4 I know what I do recommend is the crispy tater tots with the sea salt They're fried to perfection and very tasty The decor and actual ambience were nice My only recommendation is that their staff, the a little bit more inviting and friendly read more

The Boot Room is connected to the Beer Study, which is also fantastic, and I feel that it's one of the more underrated restaurants in Durham. The service is always quick and friendly and the food is fresh and creative. Prices are very fair. I often crave the fried pickles here, but they have really good salads and bowls too for anyone wanting lighter fare. It's one of those places where everyone can find something they like. Be sure to check them out! read more

The king pow tater tots have my mouth watering just thinking about them. We have visited twice and the sandwiches and entrees we have had have all been worth returning for. My only gripe is the counter ordering and iPad tipping style of service... I prefer full service. Regardless the food and ambience is worth the return trip. The neighboring beer store opens up into the restaurant and offers a plethora of draft options. read more

My veggie panini was delicious...lots of roasted veggies and great bread. Quiet Tuesday lunch in a relaxing atmosphere. Order food at counter and they deliver to table. My side of macaroni salad was so good I'd love the recipe and I'm picky about my macaroni salad and Cole slaws! read more

Amazing! Fantastic ambiance for the dog lover and the creative mind! This is a unique place that brings eclectic people and fur babies together, with an amazing selection of food (egg roll bowl is awesome!) and beer/ciders for all tastes! Could not recommend more!! read more

Love the Boot Room. Great atmosphere and service and really tasty food! Feels like a super fun, neighborhood gathering place and great for large groups. read more

Great atmosphere for football games (not talking about American football)! Love the celebrity themed burgers! It really reeled me into this place because I'm a football lover. LETS GO CHELSEA I got The Smoky Sarri burger: Smoked beef, cheddar, cider bacon, fried onion straws, roasted garlic mayo, chipotle BBQ. Bomb. Hit the nail on the head. As a former Chelsea manager, I'm sure Sarri would have loved this as a post match meal. Their sweet potato fries as a side was nice and crunchy. Bottom line: I really need to come here to give them more of my money. It's a future go-to spot for matches and food. Hot diggity. read more

The environment was inviting inside. But I was ordering to-go. My food was fantastic. Ordered the Pastrami sandwich w/krispy tater tots. Wow they were the best krispy tater tots, with a fantastic flavor. No sauce was needed at all. The pastrami sandwich , was so delicious. In-house smoked pastrami. Definitely a home run!!!! I will be back to try more dishes and enjoy that interior ambience. read more

Wow fun place. Stumbled upon this place through Yelp and decided to go for brunch. We had the Stevie G with macaroni salad and the Boot room chicken biscuit with tater tots. The chicken sandwich was excellent. Light and crispy and loved the pickled red onion. The same for the chicken biscuit. The chicken was cooked perfectly and excellent biscuit. Also really great sides. The macaroni salad was spot on and the tater tots were light, crunchy, and perfectly seasoned. If you're going for brunch the sandwich is a much lighter option. We also had the beignets and not a fan. Super thin with no rise and tasted like they were soaked in grease. Service was a little confusing and seemed a little disorganized but they got our food to us without issue. You order at the counter and then go find your table. They have large tvs in the back and had soccer games on with a few fans. I don't normally watch soccer but made it a fun and great atmosphere. They also have a ton of games to play and some really nice pinball machines in the back. This place is a ton of fun and we will definitely be back. read more

I love this place! Incredible food and unmatched beer selection. The people are wonderful and the atmosphere is very fun. Great outdoor seating (when the weather cooperates! Lol) Fun menu with stuff you would never think to put together but it's incredible. The chicken sandwich is and the fried pickles are a delicious surprise (the fry several different pickled items and it's so yummy!!) I can't say enough about this wonderful spot. If you are into soccer (or football for the rest of the world) this is your new favorite place. They play all the games in the back section of the restaurant. It feels very "British Pub" like. The beer is so great, huge tap selection and massive selection of cans & bottles (it's part of Beer Study) so you can buy it and take it home! read more

We went here on a whim on a Saturday since we had read about them but never tried them before. The parking lot can fill up fast, but luckily someone pulled out as we pulled in. The food is sandwiches, burgers, salads and apps -- so mostly tavern food. You order at the counter and take your number to your table. We actually ended up running into some friends and sat with them near the front. The space is very large and extends way into the back where I suppose English football fans gather to watch matches. I enjoyed my Fiesta Bowl and my wife enjoyed The Virgil fish sandwich, even though she was not wild about the macaroni salad side dish. This seems like a popular casual gathering place with a loyal following from locals. read more

Boot Room (for food) and Beer Study (for beer) are connected to make a really nice hangout with indoor and outdoor seating. I was there on a nice day and between the big open doors and windows + a good number of outdoor tables, it seemed pretty COVID-safe. Also, the patio is dog-friendly! I got the Stevie G (Fried Smoked Chicken Sandwich) with a side of tots, and everything was really good. The tots were really crispy and delicious, I just wish I had more! My only complaint was that I thought everything was a bit expensive for what it was, sides are not included and it's not a sit-down place with table service (you order at the counter and they bring everything out to you). read more

Simple and hardy breakfast spot. Not too crowded during brunch hours (at least on Sunday). The Mac and cheese was surprisingly good but the grits were under seasoned. Would absolutely recommend this spot for a quick semi-southern breakfast. The vibe seems more suited for adults (rather than children). Hostesses were patient and informative. read more

Always delicious. All of their burgers are worth it. Very kind service. Have only gotten takeout so far but the space is cute and will definitely need to dine in soon read more

We had not tried The Boot Room previously thinking it would be loud and crowded. We weren't going to watch a game and only one of our party wanted bar drink. But the food looked good so we tried it. Glad we did! The rooms to watch games are separated from some eating spaces including outside. We chose outside and the bar next door had a big patio also. You order inside, grab a number flag and they bring your food to the table. You get your own drinks except the bar beverages. The food was very good. We got burgers, BLT, and chicken sandwich. They gave big servings. It was a little tight parking and businesses around there have marked spaces so beware before you get towed! Otherwise it's a very nice place! read more

Ate there this evening. Got the siracha tater tots and they were delicious! I got the Steve's chicken sandwich. It was delicious! Better the chic filet. My husband got the fish sandwich it was fresh. The pimento Mac and cheese was yummy. Food came out fast. The only downside is parking is limited due to all the businesses. But we found a space. We were there at 5:30. read more

My family and I were looking for a place to eat after church on Sunday and came across this place on yelp, which gave it 4 1/2 stars. I love the whole brewery type seating where you just pick a table, order your food, and they just bring it to you. Honestly, I've seen places in CA where you can literally order the food from your table with a QR code and they just bring it out. In my opinion, I think that will be the future of ordering food with very minimal contact from the staff. Especially with covid lingering around. Anyway, since we are family of 5, I thought seating would be hard, but there were plenty of big tables which I loved. I ordered the fried, smoked chicken and pimento cheese biscuit because that is a combo I've never tried, and it sounded really good. And it was! The chicken was crispy but juicy. The smoke flavor still came through even though it was fried and the pimento cheese was delicious. Although, I love pimento so I was hoping more for a little more of the pimento flavor. The biscuit was a little too crumbly but I ate it so fast, it didn't matter anyway lol. My wife ordered the pastrami eggs benny and I managed to sneak a few bites from her. This plate was excellent! The pastrami reminded me a little bit of smoked salmon but with a more "meaty" texture. The eggs were perfectly poached, and when slit, oozed nicely onto the other ingredients. The pastrami was just salty enough to cut through the creaminess of the egg and combined with the biscuit, it was just a very delicious bite. The kids ordered the waffle with fruit, and although a pretty simple dish, it was delicious and the fruits were fresh and colorful. For dessert we got the churros with chocolate. These things are not full sized but I kind of like the bite sized versions they served. "Cinnamony", sweet and the chocolate was more of a darker chocolate which I liked because it wasn't too sweet when dipped. Overall we had a great experience here and I'd like to come again and try their regular menu because there are some items I definitely want to try! read more

OMG the food was AMAZING! The only reason I dinged a star was for the service/staff. We came in and saw that there's ALOT of vegetarian options on the menu. I got the bahn mi sandwich while my husband had the veggie burger. My daughter wanted the grilled cheese sandwich. All of the items were top notch! Even the side of fries were hot and amazing. When we ordered I had a couple of questions where the guy at the counter kind of just shrugged and didn't know the answers. After stumbling around and getting some info, I ordered and the noticed the receipt showed it was put in was wrong. When I went to the counter to make sure that we had the order corrected the other guy seemed annoyed about the correction. Nonetheless, we got what we wanted and it was thoroughly enjoyed! The bahn mi was our favorite: fresh slaw, soft tofu as well as an amazing spread. Top it with siracha for an extra kick. read more

Best old fashioned I've had in Durham. Great bar, great vibe, great hang, great service, great music venue.

delicious and fun... I went with visitors and I will be back! Great food fun ambience very friendly service!

What a wonderful place! It's about time that Durham had a legit spot to enjoy the Premier League games. I had no idea this existed until a friend told me about this place. What a gem! Came here yesterday to check out the Manchester United vs Chelsea game (which ended in 1-1 I'll have you know) and it was fun to have a lively place to watch it at with also lively and vocal fans. Place was nicely socially distanced and it was neat to have it connected to Beer Study. The food was fantastic, just as all the reviews stated. Whoever is the chef here is in point! We ordered Cobb salad, pancakes and french toast. All of which were delectable. I had a confusion with tip so didn't get to leave one but I'll be back and make up for it! My only disappointment was that I was waiting all week to have fish and chips here but apparently they don't serve it during brunch - only after 3pm. That news crushed my heart, guess I'll have to return sooner. Staff were friendly and the whole atmosphere was chill, will be back! read more

As a closeted soccer fan I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Have been to watch the premier league on weekend mornings and gotten coffee/brunch and it has been so precious. I have never been to England but it gave me English pub vibes. Can seat yourself and watch the game and not be rushed or bothered. Whole thing is soccer themed with World Cup balls, jerseys and everything on the menu is named after a player. I have also watched duke-unc basketball here. So fun and good is delicious! read more

This restaurant is mediocre. There is nothing really unique about it. The food is ok, burgers are just typical, and it could be better seasoned. The fries were good. Ranch was sour and had a weird flavor. You go to a counter to order and then are served. You go get drinks yourself. Cashiers could learn to be friendlier. The ambiance is again mediocre. You may have to spend a while trying to find a parking spot as it is extremely limited. It is located in a shopping center and was super tight. read more

My new favorite weekday spot. Get dinner served so quickly. Food is so fresh and authentic. The smoked wings are my least favorite, I wish it was cooked more and have less smoke. The craft beer is so good. The burgers are epic, for real! The chicken sandwich is so good and juicy. I was surprised how crispy and juicy the sandwich is. read more

This was the first restaurant I went to after moving to Durham just a few months ago and I've been back many times since. It's never too crowded when I've gone we have never had a wait time. The food comes out so quickly it feels like magic. The staff is friendly. Everything we have tried so far on the menu has been delicious. We love the Stevie G chicken sandwich and the Shankly fish and chips but the BLTs are definitely not to be slept on. For the sides the sweet potato fries and chips with old bay are our go to. Definitely get fried pickles or cheese curds with pepper jelly for the table. The ambience is also so cool as well. You pick your seat which I LOVE and there are lots of options to fit any size crowd. There is a bar area that's really nice but it has doors closing it off from the rest of the restaurant so no worries very much so still has a family friendly vibe. There are lots of pinball machines and other games. The walls are covered in pictures and jerseys so if you're a soccer fan it's a must. Connected is a store/brewery with all sorts of beer and wine selections so I recommend stopping by on your way out. Will always be our favorite date spot! read more

Wow. As a person new to gluten-free dining (not an allergy, just a sensitivity), I almost cried when I bit into this sandwich with gluten-free bread. It. Was. Phenomenal. The bread was GREATand the Rueben filling was better!!! Soooooooooo flavorful and delicious. And let's talk fries. I have eaten all over the world. These fries might be the best I have had. Ever. (IDK if they are gluten-free, but I don't care. They were amazing.) My husband said he would eat his salad every day if he could. "Fresh" would be an adjective for everything we had. Also Delicious." They totally earned 5 stars. read more

Pros: * It's a great place to watch soccer - we saw Belgium beat Portugal here in the Euros * Beer selection is excellent - I got a Duvel label on draft that I've never seen in the U.S. Cons: It's a bit understaffed and chaotic. There was one point when there wasn't anyone at all at the bar for many minutes, and the place was slammed and like three people deep trying to get drinks. Then we went to the "other" bar where you had to open up a new tab. I eneded up leaving without signing my tab at the first bar which I've never done in my life, because I just couldn't wait for them to tend to it (I didn't stiff them I just let them fill in the tip). read more

We ordered the breakfast platter and the food was great, however the staff was a little less than great. I hate to say that as I know it's hard for people working in the food industry right now, but they just weren't that friendly or helpful, seemed like they didn't want to be bothered. read more

Environment: 5/5, food: 3/5. The boot room and the beer study has an awesome spacious setup both indoors and outdoors. The decor is hip, I appreciated the soccer themed bar in the back. I just wish the food was as good as the environment. I got the lamb burger ordered medium and it came extra well done. The burger was just a dry patty combined with sour/tart flavor of the pickles and onions. I do not recommend ordering a burger here. The name of this place threw me off. Not sure why this place is called the Boot Room. First thought, did I need to wear boots for entry? Alas, it's a soccer themed Pub and this place is a FOOD AND BREW GOOOOOAAAALLLLLLL!!!. Their menu items are inspired by soccer players. My boyfriend had the Rapinoe and he said it was awesome. I had the Stevie G, Fried chicken sandwich (can be tossed Buffalo) and it was awesome. The kicker here is there's a brewery adjacent and gives the whole vibe an experience unto its own in Durham. I definitely will come back, I'm pretty sure this spot can be raucous during a soccer game of high stakes. Treat yourself and don't cheat yourself. Stopped in on a whim after a hike because I searched Durham for sandwiches and The Boot Room popped up. Service is order at the counter and food is brought to you with a number. People were friendly and helped us order with the correct menus (we came right before brunch ended and lunch began). We ordered and found a small booth around the corner. Food came quickly and didn't disappoint. I had to say the Boot Room has some of the BEST sweet potato fries I have ever had. They were crispy and I devoured them. My turkey sandwich was just as good too. My fiancé doesn't care for tator tots that much but ordered them anyway and THOSE were tasty as well. His chicken sandwich was delicious. Both of us cleaned our plates! Once we finished eating we walked around the place to take in all the soccer stuff and check out the bar. I love that a bottle shop and brewery is connected. We will be coming back for beers and more food soon! Loved my experience here! read more
