Catching a concert at Cat's Cradle recently, my friend and I stopped to grab dinner. The Haw River Tap & Table, is right on the front side of the building Cat's Cradle is in, it faces the parking lot. It was a very casual set up, you order at the counter, take a plaque with a number, and they bring your food out when ready. Still riding the high from May's National Burger month, I decided to give their smash burger a try. Their smash burgers by default are only 3oz, but for +$4 you can get a second, and I'm assuming a third or fourth if you keep paying the additional fee. I also got a side of potato wedges, and the Shortstraw IPA (brewed with fresh pine needles!!!). They had a good variety of beers, so it was hard to pick. The Shortstraw IPA was an awesome starter. I wasn't sure at first, but the cashier gave me a taste, and it was really flavorful and unique. The food didn't take too long to come out, and everything tasted great. The burger was cooked perfected with some tasty seasonings on it, the fries were also cooked to perfection with a slight crunch on the outside, and soft on the inside. This was a great visit, and somewhere I'll certainly return to next time I'm in the area for a show. Friendly service, tasty food, and unique/delicious beer! read more

We stopped in before a show at Cats Cradle. Awesome spot - drinks and food were both really good! I had the muscadine rosemary sour & farmstand pickle - both were excellent! The Shaved Asparagus & Herbed Ricotta Flatbread special was a huge portion and delicious. You order at the bar and they give you a number for your food. The line can get a little long but it moved fast. A few of the bands we were going to see were actually hanging out in here before the show! read more

My granddaughter was getting married and had several out of town guests coming in town. She reserved a 2 hour time slot for a casual drop in and it worked great. The restaurant had quite a variety in food options along with both beer and non alcoholic beverages. It's a popular gathering place so parking in the lot was tight. It's quite far from where I live but I'd recommend it for anyone in the Chapel Hill area. read more

I had a great time here! They were open at a time where somehow all food locations in the area were closed for a 2 hour transition period. I got a burger and yummy berry flavored drink, and they were great! I played darts with my brother and it was really fun. We came at a time where it wasn't busy, so we got fast service. Tonight they had two main options : FARMHOUSE BURGER* 6oz. springcrest farm beef burger. sliced cheddar. leaf lettuce. sliced tomato. shaved red onion. ketchup & mayonnaise. toasted ninth street bakery brioche bun. + add 2 slices applewood smoked bacon $2 And the CRISPY CHICKEN SANDWICH buttermilk-brined fried chicken thigh. charred onion aioli. applewood smoked bacon. lettuce. housemade pickles. gruyere cheese. Both were very good though I enjoy the burger a bit more. It was seasoned to perfection. Tots are always good. The chicken sandwich was breaded a bit too much for my liking but it was very tasty as well. Also got the SIGNATURE LOADED TOTS house beer cheese. bacon jam. blue cheese crumbles. green onion. They was Super good. Homemade cheese sauce. Bacon jam was yummy. The blue cheese felt unnecessary as the cheese sauce was already petty sharp and tangy. Food came out pretty fast. Love that. Our drinks were hella good. They mix their own fizzy drinks. Made-to-order with a rotating selection of our very own in-house syrups and your choice of either housemade sparkling water ($5) or 8% hard seltzer ($8, 21+) We went with the non alcohol option. elderberry hibiscus-ginger cactus pear & toasted coconut Omg they was so refreshing and delicious. Came here for a drink before a concert at Cat's Cradle! I was happy to see they had a diverse menu with a lot more options than just beer. The inside was spacious and there was a lot of indoor and outdoor seating. The bartenders were friendly and drinks were made quick. My only complaint is the mixed drinks were pricey ($13-$15) but I guess that's becoming the standard at most bars now. read more

Been a few times, food is solid, cool staff and plenty of seating. Nashville Hot Tofu sandwich is great! I find their beer selection interesting and have always been a fan of their quality, plus they have some decent NA options. It's smart to keep the menu focused and short, as it gives consistency and they also frequently offer specials. Nice pregame stop before any Cradle show & in our regular local restaurant rotation as well! read more

Totchos were delicious! They came out reasonably fast. Very filling (definitely share with someone else or do a half order). We added chicken for protein, though I think they would've been good even without. Beers were drinkable. I had a dark beer, and I would say it was good, maybe not the most memorable, but solid beer. And sometimes that's really what you need! The place is dog friendly, at least outside. We sat outside because it was a nice day. In hindsight, we should've stayed in, as there is more space. There was a dog or two, plus some tables with young children. It felt kind of tight and we were on top of them. As we were out to grab beers, I personally would prefer not to be around children. That's not to say they can't be there! But it was pretty tight and so where they may have been peripheral, it felt like they were part of our table. This is a large tap room with seating inside and out. With some gaming here and there. So, the first impression is quite positive. But, when I reached the bar, I found their beer selection puzzling. Maybe I don't understand the concept. It appears that this tap room mostly focuses on select beers (in this case Saisons) with a few other options. So what happens if you do not care for Saisons or may not be in the mood for them (like me)? Not sure this is a winning recipe to attract customers. And the food is very limited. I think just adding a few more items would help. read more

Pretty much a perfect spot for Carrboro: Good beer, good food, and open arms for everyone. We dropped in early on a summer Sunday evening and my first thought was "Wow, that's loud." My next thought was "Wow, look at all those kids." College students, young adults, young families with multiple children, grayhairs (me among them), a crazy quilt of people all sharing a bite and (except for the kiddies) a glass or two of cheer. It's counter service only, so grab a menu (better yet, check it out online), order at the bar, bring your drinks to the table, where your food will follow when ready. And the food was good. We were snackish, with a hearty helping of hummus and fried pita, some large and perfectly fried & seasoned potato wedges, and a side salad, plus two brews -- mine the extravagantly named and quite tasty "Infinite Monochromator Munich Doppelbock". Staff was friendly and helpful, service was prompt for the crowd size, and we left stuffed and smiling. If not for the (variable) noise level it's 5 stars, so let's call it 4.5. Checked this place out on a Friday night and had a great dinner! Decent sized beer menu and some cool spins on classic bar food. This was a counter order place that had plenty of bartenders serving. Burger was just alright, but the potatas bravas made with tots were PHENOMENAL- great smoky, slightly spicy salsa brava and yummy garlicy aioli. Def give them a try! read more

I really don't enjoy leaving bad reviews and mostly use yelp for the super good spots that need to be pumped up! This place has a spacious, lovely vibe with wonderful natural light and a great beer selection, but I was just served the worst, most insanely well-done burger of my life that was like eating a salty old boot. It's one thing to be willing to cook a burger well-done for someone that requests it (still wild to me), but it's another thing to have that be the default. My partner got his burger first and I was hoping the state of the food was an accidental fluke, but then mine came out and it was just as awful. It's just offensive to serve a burger that way and I'm shocked that anyone would make that choice. read more
