I wasn't greeted promptly when I walked in. There was a manager talking to an employee near the entrance. They both saw me and said nothing. The hostess did apologize when she finally made her way to the desk and then seared me. The waitress wasn't very friendly. She wasn't rude, but made it feel like every ask was a chore and we didn't ask for much. The space is HUGE with a variety of seating options. Lounge chairs, booths, & bar stools. There's a bar every EVERYWHERE. I can imagine how busy they get during big televised sports events and even for Durham Bull Games since they're literally in their back yard. The menu is huge and eclectic. I went with the salmon that's served with mashed potatoes and asparagus. My friend ordered the Greek Lemon Chicken.i ordered my salmon medium well,but it was stiff and dry and they put entirely too much sauce on it. The sauce was supposed to be lemony, but I only tasted cream the asparagus were overcooked and greasy, but the mashed potatoes were garlicky and delicious. My friend enjoyed her chicken but said it wasn't anything too special. Not sure if I'll go back to this place. There were a bunch of other cool places to try in the area. Customer service needs a little improvement and that's more important to me than the food.

As a farmhouse ale and saison enthusiast, this place felt like my happy place. We kicked things off with a flight featuring Beneath the Feet of Orion, We're All Quite Happy Right Here, Thank You (seriously... who comes up with these wonderfully ridiculous names? ), The Seven Faces of Pepe Grano, and Mille Fleur. Every beer was thoughtfully crafted and distinct, but We're All Quite Happy Right Here, Thank You completely stole the show. A bee pollen saison sounds unconventional, yet it was beautifully balanced, floral, refreshing, and unlike anything I've had before. The food easily kept pace with the beer. The Southern Cheese Slaw & Crackers disappeared embarrassingly fast, and the Carolina Egg Rolls were huge, crispy, and packed with flavor--perfect companions to the farmhouse ales. Of course, one flight wasn't enough. Round two included Crimson Velvet, Carolina Tapestry, Toasted Coconut Scribbler's Son, and Cultural Divide: Muscadine Rosemary. Each pour showcased the brewery's creativity without feeling gimmicky. Whether it was the rich toasted coconut lager, the juniper-forward sahti, or the tart muscadine rosemary sour, there was something memorable in every glass. If you appreciate breweries that aren't chasing the latest hazy IPA trend and instead focus on expertly crafted saisons, farmhouse ales, and unique traditional styles, Haw River Tap & Table is absolutely worth the trip. It was a very casual set up, you order at the counter, take a plaque with a number, and they bring your food out when ready. Still riding the high from May's National Burger month, I decided to give their smash burger a try. Their smash burgers by default are only 3oz, but for +$4 you can get a second, and I'm assuming a third or fourth if you keep paying the additional fee. I also got a side of potato wedges, and the Shortstraw IPA (brewed with fresh pine needles!!!). They had a good variety of beers, so it was hard to pick. The Shortstraw IPA was an awesome starter. I wasn't sure at first, but the cashier gave me a taste, and it was really flavorful and unique. The food didn't take too long to come out, and everything tasted great. The burger was cooked perfected with some tasty seasonings on it, the fries were also cooked to perfection with a slight crunch on the outside, and soft on the inside. This was a great visit, and somewhere I'll certainly return to next time I'm in the area for a show. Friendly service, tasty food, and unique/delicious beer!

When the weather permits, they open the back patio which looks out onto the golf course. Since COVID, they've added a heated tent which works well except for the very cold nights. It gets crazy busy around Duke games and other events. The menu is different than the Fairview restaurant with a few similarities. I've eaten tons of meals here --- Cheese plate: good sized for an appetizer. I ask them to substitute bread for the crostini. Cheese change over time but usually three kinds. Focaccia: comes vegetarian with pesto but I usually add chicken. Easy to share. Wings: I'm a definite fan. The Szechuan sauce is a touch sweet with a kick. You get 10 decent sized bone-in wings. This could be a meal if you aren't starved. Spinach salad: my fav salad on the menu. Sliced eggs and pork cracklings! The bacon dressing is quite tasty. Probably not healthy but you're eating in a bar. Caesar salad: solid but not spectacular, comes with a bit more dressing than I like. Turkey BLT: kudos for using Havarti cheese rather than some other. I prefer spicy mustard over the aioli but that's me being picky. The bread has a nice texture. Duke dip: this seems to vary from very good to eh. The horseradish cream is too mild for me. Ask for more Au Jus if you need it. Burger: pretzel roll is solid. I'm ok with the mushroom/tomato jam default but usually end up customizing my own. Beyond burger option available. Cauliflower steak: only thing I don't really like. Not bad just not satisfying. Salmon: a simple healthy dish. The garbanzo beans don't add much to the flavors. I had broccoli added once. People rave about the house made potato chips but I think they are just ok. The fries are thin and stringy - decent flavor but wish they were much better. The fingerling potatoes are the best of the three of them. Decent selection of microbrews and a few high end wines. Full bar of course. Servers are usually very nice but get VERY busy and sometimes overwhelmed. Even when the bar isn't busy it can take a bit for food to come out. If you're in a hurry, be sure to tell them when you sit down.
