You'll find mostly regular older gents and some younger lads that are over to watch the match. Yes, you might be stared at if you're not from the area or their typical crowd, but they quickly stop caring and you can make this pub your own. Graingers has a good selection of beers and even some cocktails. You will also find a smoking area out back (heated), and there is plenty of space inside for large groups. They usually feature some local rock duo during most nights, and I'm pretty sure they still do quiz nights on Thursdays (which are quite fun, even for the 21-30 year old demographic). It's also vape friendly, as long as you are discreet and don't start blowing big clouds. If you do, just head out back or sit out front on one of the two tables to watch the world go by while vaping/ smoking. Pint of Guinness is 4.50 and you can get two cocktails for 10 euro. Bathrooms are usually mopped thru out the night, but can still be a bit messy. Then again, could be worse! If you're looking for a nice peaceful evening without too much excitement and / or just want to grab a pint to unwind and watch a game, Graingers is great for those living around.

The bar is located in one of Dublin's nicer hotels - The Dylan. And, the decor is very inviting. It gives me the feeling of being somewhere else. As for the space in the lounges, it's pretty huge so you can easily find a sweet spot for two or a comfy spot for six. The outside lounge has heat lamps and canopies in case it's cool or raining. And, there's a patio in front of the hotel that looks very inviting if the sun is shining! There's a bit of sexiness when it comes to this bar. Wear your heals ladies, order a Bombay G&T, and get comfy in one of the over-sized chairs or on the sofa. Swank it up!

My husband and I actually had a great time here. We really enjoyed having a Bulmer's Cider and Guinness Beer. I also loved the entertainer here. He was a really talented artist singing some amazing songs. The setup of this bar was cool. I saw posters of concerts I would've only dreamed about going to, a replica of the Daft Punk helmets, and records of artists that I appreciate. I would say walk in and give this place a chance if you're in the area. If you hate it, there will be plenty of other amazing bars to check out extremely nearby.

Upon ordering a starter, no small plates were provided - perhaps part of the sustainability initiaitve. The cocktails and water were the only enjoyable part of dinner service. All of our entrees had inexcusable issues - bones, inappropriate levels of seasoning (whole bay leaves, whole coriander seeds), dairy butter served with the vegan dish, undercooked risotto. I viewed some other patrons spitting their food out - not a promising sign. Before leaving, I visited the toilet facilities and nearly lost my dinner to the stench. Upon reporting concerns with the dinner, the chef chat with the bartender but did not visit our table to apologize despite there being no more than 3 other tables being served. The single waitress serving the entire restaurant attempted to remedy the mistakes however we left extremely unsatisfied and concerned for our fellow diners. Would love to see this on an episode of Hotel Hell.

Previous reviewers have commented on the shell-shaped seating around tables which are really nice. It gives you that feeling of being in a jazz club in a black & white movie. It's comfortable, intimate, and well, a little bit special. Probably my favourite element of the Sugar Club though is their varied programming. On any given week, they will have anything from burlesque to hiphop to an 80s classic or live band. Some downsides too - the toilets are pretty average - it would be cool to see something a bit more plush to go with the general vibe of the place. In line with this - the price of drinks. If I'm paying this much for drinks, I want to be somewhere ultra fecking plush. OR (preferably!), I'd prefer NOT to pay so much for a drink. I believe my Jameson & coke cost me in the region of eight euro the other day. And was poured into a plastic cup. No people, just, no!

Oh my Lord, what a night!…read more I've been wanting to go to the Ruby Sessions for ages and finally made it this Tuesday night. I'd heard it's good but nothing more and didn't know what to expect. Especially as it goes quite late on a Tuesday night, was hoping it lived up to its reputation for me to forego an early night before work the next day. AND, it did. In fact, surpassed my expectations. If you are a huge music fan and want to enjoy original live music even when it's not coming from the biggest known names in the industry, then Ruby sessions hits the spot to say the least. And with some big names dropping in every once in a while, it's not hard to understand why. It's the type of night that has earnt its reputation fair and square where you hear the different acts perform completely mesmerised and you wouldn't be surprised if a few years down the line those same performer's names will be on everyone's lips because they are just brimming with talent oozing out of them. The fact that they perform original music too and manage to entertain is not to be taken for granted either. There are many talented musicians who don't manage to compel audiences unless singing covers and many people don't enjoy listening to songs they've never heard. Not a problem at the ruby sessions as every single performer is just amazingly talented at what they do. I left feeling like kicking myself for having taken so long to make it round to this. The best bit of all, despite the sessions taking place weekly for the past 16 years, the venue remains small, upstairs at Doyle's, I'd guess about a 50 strong crowd in total, makes you feel like you've gone upstairs into a well kept secret that only the privileged few know about and you are rewarded by being entertained by some seriously talented peeps in return. I've no doubt this will now become part of at least a semi-regular routine for me, and just another reason why I feel blessed to live in this fair city of Dublin with it's hidden underbelly of art & music and talent that even a lot of the bigger cities worldwide just can't rival!
