My friend and I came here after a photo shoot last Saturday. We were looking for a place nearby where we could relax and have a cold drink from being out in the scorching sun for several hours! We came here and we were greeted by the barista. There were a few customers in the shop lounging and sipping on their drinks. The space itself is small but very charming. There are a lot of artwork on the walls and I personally fell in love with the light fixture that hangs over the cash register. There's also an antique French Press in the corner of the shop that the barista gave us a little history on. My friend was interested in ordering an Arnold Palmer but the barista convinced him to order a Pink Lemonade instead. I think he was running low on iced tea if I'm not mistaken. My friend gave in and ordered a large Pink Lemonade and boy, was it HUGE! Grand total: $2.50!!! Yes, you read correctly! I tried some of his and it was nice and tart, the perfect drink to cool yourself down with. I ordered a large iced chai. I wanted to have it made with almond milk but the barista informed me that they were out. Instead of blantantly saying "No, we don't have any," he offered alternatives I could have instead such as oat, hemp or soy milk. I was curious about oat milk and he offered me a sample of it. Talk about customer service! The oat milk was better than I expected so I decided to give it a whirl! I got a large iced chai with oat milk and it was GOOD. I didn't need to add any additonal sugar or anything. It was perfectly balanced and the oat milk was a refreshing new addition that I wouldn't have imagined before my visit that day. My iced chai was $4 which in comparison to the cafes in Manhattan or Brooklyn is way cheaper and I ordered a large (keep that in mind!)! Overall, the quality of both the drinks we ordered and the service was superb. Every time I've come here, I've always had a pleasant experience. It is a bit of the way for me to get to from where I live in the Bronx but I don't mind traveling over here because I know that what I am getting is quality and I am supporting a local business which I love to do! If they ever have plans to expand, I hope that they will consider creating a location in the North Central part of the Bronx. A cafe like this would thrive there! read more

I don't have enough words to explain have fond I am of this place. I haven't lived in the Bronx in over 10 years. I try to get back my old neighborhood whenever I can. I'm also a serious Hip Hop head which sparked my interest to visit. I was very pleased. 1. The coffee & food is great. The only downside is trying not to consume too much. 2. The ambiance is nostalgic, artful, and educational. 3. This place is most comfortable. It feels like a living room. 4. Staff. Great staff. Very welcoming, and down to earth. The customers walk in and the conversations are natural like a family atmosphere. 5. They recognize and pay homage to our culture of Hip Hop. Most of all the Bronx needs this place. have been a consistent customer to this cafe for the last 4 years and I love everything that it stands for, it is truly an example of how to give back to a community this is in such a high need! Last week on Monday (7/11) I visited the cafe with a colleague who is also an avid customer and when we left she stated "I feel like I am always paying extra when she (the female shift manager or staff member who orders the inventory) makes my coffee. We both paid $7 + change for small iced lattes with flavor. Today I purchased the same iced latte with caramel for $5 + change. I am okay with paying $7 or $5 I would just like to pay the same price every time. The hours of the cafe show that they open at 7am. Wednesday Morning (7/13), I drove by the cafe at 7:07 am and the gates were down so I ordered coffee to my job. My next visit was Wednesday afternoon of the same day. It was a busy lunch hour, I waited about 15 minutes to order my iced latte all while being next online. I am aware of the food preparation taking a long time, as it is a small space. I left with my coffee 20 minutes later after waiting patiently even though I spent the majority of my break in the cafe, I was still very understanding with no apology or acknowledgement of me even waiting that long. (This is not the experience that has forced me to write this lengthy review.) The experience that I had the next day and this morning is where I draw my line and am choosing to no longer be a customer of this cafe. Thursday morning I got to Hunts point at 7:12am, the gate to the cafe was still down but the gate to the door was open (while the door was still locked I was able to see the same lady- shift manager inside). I knocked and when she saw me she gave me the closed signal with her hand. After realizing that she was not going to open the door and or even walk over to the door, I asked her back in sign language how much time? She signaled back with her hands "15 minutes" By holding up her 5 fingers and opening and closing it 3 times- leaving me to figure out that she was saying "15 mins" which would put her to opening the cafe at 7:30. Again, I had to order coffee to my job. I decided to give grace and also was desperately in need of coffee by the afternoon of the same day so I walked over again and when I entered I was met with not even a hello, but with "I have many lunch/food orders so it will be a really long wait" I expressed I waited close to twenty minutes for a coffee the other day and she replied "yep, it's gonna be just as long as that today" so I exited feeling unwelcome and also feeling as though it was my second time being denied service in one day. I understand that she did not explicitly say "No, I am not making your coffee" but essentially I was ushered out and/or discouraged from purchasing within this facility, call it what you want- I think it is just plane rude and VERY POOR customer service. I expressed to her that this was the second time today I was denied service and I also expressed that I am aware that the hours begin at 7AM. Since I was unable to use verbal communication and forced to communicate in sign languages earlier that day in the morning. Today was my last visit to the Cafe after still trying to be treated as a valued customer, I entered and order my Iced latte and sat with my lunch as I have previously done in the past. The moment that I was going to bite into my pizza I was again ushered out of the cafe. The SAME female shift manager stated, "You cannot eat that outside food in here". This was the last opportunity for this women to make me feel unwelcome. Unfortunately, I will not be a customer of this business any longer and I will share my unwelcoming experience with anyone who inquires about the cafe. I am saddened by this! If I could give this place 10 stars, I would. Several months later after discovering this gem and I am proud to say, they still got it. The ambience is great. The people who work there are all really wonderful people. And the owner, she is probably one of the coolest people on the planet. I camp out here at least 2 or 3 times a week since I work remotely. The quality of the food stays consistently good. The drinks appeal to me since they have the offbeat ones I find downtown. I'm so happy that I have a cafe like this walking distance. My best friend and I always complain about having to leave our hometown borough to enjoy ourselves. If we want coffee, we have to go to Manhattan. If we want vegan food, we have to go to Brooklyn. So when I found out that there was a coffee shop in the BX, I made the hour trip from my job to make sure I checked it out. The staff is friendly, the coffee is delicious, and they have hemp milk! I've been here a few times, It's really nice to see a very homey, welcoming and definitely unique space with lots of character in this area of The Bronx! I tried the Expresso, I had it sour with no sugar, it was surprisingly smooth and flavor full. I also have tried the Americano with whole milk, its great! I like my brown sugar, so I am glad they have that option. I had my Americano with this amazing coffee or peanut butter doughnut, I cant recall whats exactly in it, but If you MUST try something from this place its deff. this doughnut. The staff is always friendly and jolly, however I don't believe they have a restroom and I wish the space was a bit bigger. Overall great spot to grab a coffee and go! read more
