They were out of ribs and sausages, I have to come back for those but I ordered the Habanero wings, 2 meat combo with brisket and chicken and hub got the 3 meat combo with brisket, chicken, and pulled pork. We got fries, cole slaw, baked beans and mac and cheese as our sides. Habanero wings - 4/5 pretty good, a little dried, there wasn't a strong flavor but luckily i got some of their homemade habanero sauce to go. Loved how they put jalapenos with it. Briskets - 5/5 I think this was our favorite out of all the things we got, it was very tender and juicy. Breaks in your mouth. Smoked Chicken - 4/5 not bad, not as flavorful as i thought it would be, just glad it wasn't dried. Pulled pork - 5/5 the hub said it was good, I didn't get a chance to try it. Probably next time. Fries - 5/5 These are not my favorite type of fries to get but surprisingly it was still crispy by the time i got home, i live about 25 mins away. Mac and cheese - 5/5 it was not super dry, the consistence is in the middle, wish it was gooey but it was delish either way. Cole Slaw - 4/5 better than most places but had a sour taste to it :\ but the hub enjoyed it. Bake beans - 3/5 this is way too thick for my liking, there were more meats than beans. First time for the hubby and me. The prices are not posted on the big chalk board, and it was quite expensive when it came time to pay, but pretty good. I LOVED the ribs and their house made sauce they put on it. They are not as big and meaty as Shawn's bbq, in warrenton, but wow, so tender and good. The outer "bark" is a bit more chewy but I mainly ate the inner rib area. The hubby's hickory burger looked and smelled amazing. Ordered it just medium but it was quite burnt on the outside, gave it a bitter taste but the bacon was super tender with a sweet flavor as well. The mac and cheese was fantastic. A little soupy but once it cooled down some, it adheres to the noodle better. We will definitely be back to try the bone in chicken next time. We did NOT like the music. it was all "headbanger" and cranked up a bit, not really good for dinner music but we are in our 50's so maybe we expect a bit lighter music while eating. It does have a bar area so maybe they are going for the younger bar type crowd. Love the seating options throughout. Good job guys/gals. We ventured off to the Gainesville location because they started a biscuit breakfast menu that starts at 8am on Saturdays and Sundays! THE BISCUITS, HAND CUT CURED BACON and their homemade PIMENTO STEAL THE SHOW! I am a huge fan of fried chicken, so I had to get the wake up dolly which has the fried chicken thigh, sandwiched in their homemade biscuit. We also go the Bettie Lou's as my husband is an avid fan of everything bacon! It's your typical bacon egg and cheese sandwich, but the bone upped their game on putting it between biscuits and slathering their famous pimento cheese! Look, the biscuits, pimento, and their hand it cured bacon totally did it for me. The delicious perfect biscuits were crumbly and melty in your mouth, buttery and soft and all the right amount of salty. It was everything delicious and everything a biscuit should be! Ok, now the deal with the bacon is it's so thick and just crispy and meaty! And that was so appreciated b cause when do you ever say bacon is meaty? When the bacon is super high quality. And that's exactly the kind of bacon they serve here. Marry it with the pimento cheese - which, just FYI - I don't even like pimento cheese because usually it's so salty and overpowering....but the bone bbq did their pimento right! Creamy, melty, and was the perfect compliment to the bacon and eggs in the Betty Lou! The chicken thigh was amazing too! Perfectly fried and breaded! When I was about to give this place its Star rating, it even says "Could've been better" and you know what. That's exactly how I've felt the times coming here and trying the food thinking that it would be better or the previous time was a fluke. Now don't get me wrong, the customer service here is good and the employees are polite but the BBQ here is basic. I've tried to come multiple times and see if the food would get better, but I would just be disappointed each time. The ribs are decent, but not "fall of the bone" type of ribs and it lacks a good BBQ sauce for dipping. As for the pulled pork, the 2 out of 3 times I've bought it, it came out dry and would need assistance from the BBQ sauce to give it life. The sides are ok and lacks flavor but overall it could've been better. They give out huge portions here, but the price you pay for the portions balances it out to where "you're getting what you paid for" in size. I think that being raised in the South, I have too high of a standard when it comes to BBQ so I'll raise the rating up a notch. I hope Gainesville expands more so we can get another option for BBQ besides Mission. read more

I asked the kid Kyle about the collards when I was choosing sides, he told me they're spicy & have vinegar. I told him we don't like spicy. I had the Cuban sandwich with bbq, fries, and a brown ale. It was probably the best Cuban sandwich that I've ever eaten. Very filling. We aren't off out this way so was excited to try their q.... As I headed to the counter to order I asked about their collard greens ... super loved that I was offered a taste as I was debating whether to order or not... I'm usually reluctant to order as sometimes their is way too much vinegar ... but this had just enough to give it the perfect kick Besides the greens we had a Buehl if brisket chili which was nice but hubby commented he wished it had more of a kick I had a order of wings with the honey bourbon as I was told that was the most popular... it came nicely glazed and was sweet and spicy in a great way. Loved that I got both celery and carrot sticks... Bone is outstanding! My first visit. I stopped in for a quick lunch and it exceeded my expectations. The staff greeted me like an old friend. It is obvious they take pride in their jobs. I ordered the Hickory Burger and fresh cut fries. The burger was excellent. I learned the make their own burger meat using chuck and brisket. These days a lot of establishments tout its burgers. More often than not, it's disappointing. Bone's is on another level. It was served with house made pickles, which are delicious. The fries were fresh cut, perfectly done, and unlike many restaurants, not an afterthought. I should note the restaurant was spotless and comfortable. After my meal, I was asked how everything was and if I would like a to go cup for an iced tea. This was a thoughtful send off. Finally, a staff member asked my name when I was bragging on their excellent food. Upon leaving, they remembered it when wishing me well. The Bone is a nice option for BBQ here in NoVa. We enjoyed a three meat platter as shown in the pic. It was plenty for two people, and we even took home some leftovers for a midnight snack. The only thing I somewhat enjoyed was the brisket. The sides were not to my liking and hardly ate them. My mom even felt the same.

I would give this a a 5 star, but although a very good beer (Dogfish Head Liquid Truth Serum) was not worth 19.50 for 2 beers. We started with the fried mac and cheese bites, which were terrific. They were crispy on the outside, and creamy shells and cheese on the inside. They actually came with a dipping sauce, which I didn't use, so I can't say if it was good or not, they did not even need it. I had the BBQ burger, topped with pulled pork, house bbq sauce, grilled onions, pepper-jack cheese, and fried onions (I didn't do any of the onions, though). The pulled pork was pretty awesome, and nice and smokey, and the burger was cooked MR, like I ordered it. They have 4 BBQ sauces, a sweet, a habanero, a house traditional, and a mustardy sauce (kind of more vinegary). I liked all of the sauces, except for the yellow (vinegar). I actually ended up just dipping my fries in the habanero bbq, delicious. My wife had the pulled pork sandwich, and loved it. The saddest thing for me about the meal...was that it was better than 95% of the BBQ that I have had since moving to NC 5 years ago, and it is a 5 hour drive for me, so I guess next time I am up there.... read more

Well the reason why I am even giving 2 stars is because my husband and son said they liked it, but sadly I did not. I even tried to see if it was better as a leftover, but I had to add my own seasoning to make at least the bbq beans better, but the beans were almost crunchy so undercooked. The texture of the pulled pork and brisket is right, but there is no taste. Maybe I am measuring it against a high standard set by country folks in my family and growing up in TX. Heck my dad made his own sauce and built a mega pit out of bricks to bbq so growing up like that set me up for disappointment on this. I love some good BBQ. Me and the hubs stopped here once before and really enjoy the food. The brisket is moist and delicious- ribs were fall off the bone tender. Fries seasoned well and good. The brisket beans were a little soupy imo. My husband ordered the 2 meat platter. I ordered the BBQ baked potato with pulled pork. That was good too- loaded with cheese and buttery. I've always enjoyed the BBQ here. For the most part, it's always been fairly consistent. The main menu items are the same, but they take away a lot of my favorites from the past, like the Mac-and-cheese bites they used to carry. Lately, the restaurant itself has began to have a very pungent smell to it, which kinda grosses me out while I'm eating. It's like a very dingy, old mop water, funky smell that you get a whiff of every time you take a breath. This has been one of the biggest reasons I've not visited as much as I used to. May be time for the owners to step up, spend some money, and either deep, deep, deep clean the place, or may even remodel some. read more

Simply put food was amazing. I ordered the three meat combo consisting of Pulled Chicken, Brisket and Ribs. All of the meat without sauce had amazing flavor and good smoke added. The sauces were decent, I thought I would have liked the Whiskey BBQ sauce but it was different. Not bad but just different from what I'm use to. Also the portions I received were plentiful, almost remind me of back home in Texas. If I come back I'll just get the ribs, those were the real MVP. The meat LITERALLY fell off the bone. The chicken was fine along with the brisket. The inside and decor remind me of Texas themed BBQ restaurants so that was a winner for me. The staff was polite and friendly. Great selection with pulled pork, beef brisket and ribs. I had the two meat combo with collard greens and sweet potato fries...all delicious. They have reasonable prices as well. I also got a half rack of ribs to go...a half dozen meaty and tasty ribs...really flavorful. I did take out but I liked the sit down inside, they have a nice bar and an outside patio. The que is exceptional...my only suggestion would be more sauce selections; something on the hotter and spicier side. Was excited to see an actual BBQ restaurant opening up in the area. However, my first visit was just satisfactory - nothing "wowed" me. I ordered the BBQ Sampler - you get four meats. I chose both kinds of pulled/chopped pork, the beef brisket, and the sausage, plus an order: 1/2 rack of ribs: Both the Carolina and Georgia porks were very tender. The beef brisket was chewy and on the verge of being tough. The beef brisket I've had in TX just falls apart in your mouth when eating it. The sausage needs to be cooked longer in my opinion. It really needs a good bit of char on the outside to develop the flavor. My sausage link had some light grill marks on it. The ribs are St. Louis ribs - the meat did not pull easily away from the bone. I had to really pull on the ribs to get them to separate - and the meat did not come off the bone. The ribs did have good flavor. But also a bit on the chewy side. I had four sides: Macaroni and Cheese, Potato Salad, Cole Slaw, and Baked Beans. The Beans tasted like a cross between Baked Beans and Chili. The Cole Slaw and Potato salad were very average. The Mac and Cheese was good. I'm hoping that this is just them getting things right - good BBQ is important - you really need to nail it - and this BBQ did not do it for me. Here's to hoping that the BBQ gets better! read more

Delicious! This was our first time here so I don't know how they operate pre-COVID. They had every other booth roped off and offered pick up/to go meals. Their large blackboards showcased their choices of delicious food. My husband and I each got a platter meal and it was PLENTY of food to share with our two young sons as well. I had the Pulled Pork and my husband had the ribs. The pulled pork and sweet potato fries were delicious! Our kids loved the ribs and Mac and cheese too. The indoor area is smaller, as it is in a strip mall building, but the decor is great with wooden and rustic design. The music choice was oldies classic rock which I thoroughly enjoyed. I certainly would love to go back in the future. I wish they had a larger outdoor eating area (was closed when we went) but they may figure that out in the spring. We didn't try their beers but it looked like they had a large selection of a variety of beers I've never seen before. I only saw one television, but I was thankful for that because we didn't want a sports bar. read more
