If you're looking for good BBQ in the area at a reasonable price I'd recommend the bone. You can get a pulled pork sandwich for $12.25 or a platter for $17.25. I happen to love the pulled pork nachos and the buffalo chicken dip. The brisket it also good and so are the ribs. The sausage has been dry the few times I've had it so maybe skip that. I'm having the brisket and pulled pork platter. Very very good barbecue! The brisket is moist and pull apart. Both the brisket and the pork taste great without sauce too. I tried all the sauces and they probably have one for anybody's preference. On staff suggestion I mixed the habanero with the house BBQ and it had great heat without overpowering the meat. For sides I tried the fan favorite potato salad and the Cole slaw. I actually like the slaw more so suggest it to take some of the heat out of the habanero. Great service and attention. This was our very FIRST TIME here and the BBQ was on point!! We decided on the meat sampler since we had no idea what to order due to it being our first time. We were NOT AT ALL DISAPPOINTED!! The ribs were fall off the bone tender and the brisket was so perfectly smoked and super fork tender to cut juicy and delicious!! The sausage had a zing to it, but was just amazingly juicy and delicious with a nice snap on the outside, but so wonderfully juicy and flavorful on the inside! The chicken was super tender and perfectly seasoned without being overpowering! We also ordered a side of two cornbread which were of a perfect size since the portions were so big which made them perfect! ;) The staff were very friendly and accommodating and also recommended a great beer to wash down the great BBQ! I also couldn't resist buying one of their hilarious t-shirts at the end of our meal since it was just a cute play on the hit song, "I Like Big Butts and I Cannot Lie" so I knew I just HAD TO GET ONE!! :-D It's clean and rustic, and they serve excellent BBQ!! TL;DR: Decent food, but nothing out of this world. Service is very friendly and good. I have come here a few times now, and the food has been consistent. There is ample seating (inside and out), with salt, pepper, hot sauce, and a roll of paper towels on each table. The in house BBQ sauces are located near the drink machines, and small containers are provided (lid included for if you want to take it to-go). They have a huge chalkboard when you first walk in, with the menu written out. Additionally, they have paper menus closer to the register. The people taking orders are very quick, friendly, and bring out your food to you when it is ready. FOOD: ~ Brisket (4/5): Probably the best brisket I have had in this area. Very consistent. It is tender and has good flavor ~ Pulled Pork (2.5/5): On it's own, I think it lacks flavor, but is very tender and juicy. Using one of their sauces with it makes it a lot better. ~ Mac and Cheese (2.5/5): Was a little watery the last few times, but tasted okay, but nothing special. ~ Ribs (4/5): Their ribs are a solid choice. They are glazed with some sauce, and fall off the bone, while also having some chew to it. ~ Stuffed Baked Potato (3/5): I got this with brisket in it. It was a huge portion, but wish it had more sour cream/butter/cheese to get into the bottom of the potato and have a better ratio. ~ Pulled Pork Nachos (3.5/5): Again, the pork itself was bland, but used BBQ sauce and gave it that last umph. The chips were crispy, but the cheese sauce is a little runny, so it pooled at the bottom ~ Éclair Pie (5/5): So good. Looking at it, it looks kind of heavy, but when you cut into it, it's so light and delicious. ~ Apple Pie (3/5): Crust was good, but there was SO much bread underneath, especially compared to the amount of apple. Summary: This place is Fantastic! Really enjoyed our experience. I usually don't rave about a place if I only go once but this isn't just a franchise place. This is a family owned and operated business that I really hope gets to blow up as big as Five Guys. The food taste like they have a smoker in the back. I tried the sampler and it did not disappoint. Of course I found the Brisket and BBQ chicken as my favorite but that's just personal preference. The atmosphere was down home VA Style because they are in Gainesville. The staff was really friendly and accommodating. in our particular instance we were given lots of food. My wife a vegetarian was given an almost off menu salad to enjoy while I had the Sampler, Collard greens and Mac and cheese (home made). The food was tasty for sure. I recommend trying all four sauces. They have cocktails and pie! I tried to narrow down something I didn't like but can't think of one thing I didn't like. They even give us cornbread to enjoy with our meal. We did spend $100 bucks but we bought lots of food, a cocktail and a small pie. I highly suggest that you try this spot. I'm personally not a fan of bbq but went because my husband loves it. This is his review. Me: how is it? Him: meh. The brisket is dry and the crust is soggy but has good flavor. Needs lots of sauce. Me: how about the ribs? Him: overall, I'll eat them but they aren't the best ribs I've had. The potato salad is a contender though Me: contender of what? Him: against your moms. Very good. My experience was such an improvement from my experience in May that I wanted note my positive experience here. I was immediately greeted when I entered the Bone. I phoned ahead and ordered one of their Classic Que Packs for $105. It was ready for pick up and still warm. It was an excellent value. Fed 6 people dinner and midnight snacks! We ordered the bone for catering an event for our church luncheon for 300 people last Sunday. The team offered up great suggestions for a dietary friendly menu, great meat options, and an even better price that included staffing. We had our order delivered and the team that was on site was so helpful and honestly we were pleasantly surprised when the owners arrived too! They jumped in and started setup before the guests arrived. The meat was tender, fresh, flavorful, and the Mac n cheese was Devine. We were thrilled with the portion sizes and how much they provided at the price for catering, so much so that we had an abundance of leftovers. So had to order the brisket Reuben to jar me memory and yea now I remember it was pretty darn good! Nice spin on the classic and proportion of meat to kraut to dressing was on point. Oh and those pickle things were yummy too! My husband tried the bbq po boy and wasn't completely sold on the taste. He said the meat lacked seasoning and his coleslaw was bland. I saw him pull out the seasoning shaker... yikes lol. My son got the pulled pork nachos which I didn't take a pic since all the toppings were packaged separately. I can't believe it took me four years to finally go here. For some reason I always thought it was a place that sold grilling equipment. A friend recommended it as the best BBQ in the area and he wasn't wrong. Food is well cooked, well seasoned and you get a lot for your money.
