You'll find a wide variety here; just pick one; I guarantee it will be great. The house bbq sauce is the best I've ever eaten. The staff is friendly and accommodating, and goes out of their way to make your meal a great experience. Five stars always. Back many times since last review and it's still the same- best BBQ in the area. The beans are as good as it gets. They've started charging for the cornbread now (a disappointment) but I guess that's just part of the business. read more

1. Food is amazing 2. Service is great It's tough to get good barbecue that's not dry but I found it. Not only do I eat good at the bone but I actually enjoy the service and the people here. I'm here like 5times a month and I don't see that changing anytime soon. read more

The food is amazing! Matt Kim and InaLee gave us great service behind the bar! Would highly recommend

Best BBQ in the area! The wings are so good! We had a salad with pulled pork. Would definitely recommend.

Pretty darn good. I usually get the meat sampler. Brisket is better than their chicken. Some of the stuff felt like it needed just a touch more salt or something. That is better than too much salt though. Will return and I do enjoy it. Just not spectacular. read more

We have eaten BBQ all over the state and all over the South. The Bone is our favorite place for BBQ ribs. No one does it better! They are just right with mild flavoring so you can taste the nautral flavor of the meat. So tender that it almost falls off the bone. Their BBQ sauce is addictive as well! Perfectly done! In addition to great food, the management and staff are welcoming and helpful. Shout out to Kristina the GM and shift manager Ryan. Y'all are awesome! read more

I eat here about once a week, haven't had a disappointing meal yet. No frills setup and service. Check out the Rodeo sandwich, but my favorite here is the beef brisket. read more

One of my favorite bbq place in VA outside of DC. The cashier was helpful with recommendation. The smoke turkey was surprisingly juicy and has a good favor. Ribs was above average. Mac n cheese is a must get side. read more

The Bone - Barbeque Near Me - Gainesville, Virginia

Came here for an early dinner before the dinner rush, and I'm glad I did that! When I saw how well reviewed and popular this place was on Yelp I thought I'd give it a try. The menu choices were great and the wait time for the food wasn't bad either. The food was better than I had expected, so I enjoyed every last bite of my meal. The outside and inside is perfect atmospherically and decor wise. I'm from WV and just being there made me feel like I was back home. A tasty place you wouldn't go wrong in trying! read more

While I've been there more than once, ordered bulk for HS graduation this week. They made a small mistake on order and more than made up for it - and family and friends loved the food. Do not underestimate how good some of there sides are (collard greens and beans are spot on can't over order). All of the Q was great - we did ribs, pulled pork and brisket. For catering size I was impressed how brisket held up. Will repeat! read more

The meat on my ribs were very dry and I got almost no bbq sauce on them. The chicken wing were also very dry but were abundant in sauce. When I asked for ranch it took the waiter about 10 minutes to get it. My drink barely got refilled and after I asked for no ice they still gave me ice! Don't recommend going! read more

It was ok. It was a large portion, BBQ sauce wasn't too special. The actual BBQ (pork is all I tried) was meh, just ok. The fries were regular ole' fries. read more

I don't know what they do to their pulled pork but it's some of the best I've ever had. The brisket chili is also really tasty.

I would give The Bone 5 stars, but I am rating food and service. I would give the food 5 stars for most of our visits. Service/staff 3 stars. My husband and I usually order the same thing every visit. Wings and the BBQ burger with fries. The fries and wings NEVER disappoint. A few times our burgers have had no seasoning and the pork BBQ has been dry. Our last visit the sandwich overall was disappointing. On a good day, it is the best burger/BBQ we've ever eaten, PERIOD. We are usually offered corn muffins and actually get them about half the time. I won't get into staff issues we've observed. I'll just say, that there needs to be some leadership. We come here often with family and friends and they have also enjoyed the food, but in the last few months we have been more disappointed. I hope that the staff can improve their customer service and be directed more to keep in mind that they are at work and serving the public. UPDATE: last 2 visits were amazing! Food and service on point. A friendly young man was working on both occasions and he seemed to be managing the front. He was great! Checking in on the customers seated and asking if we were enjoying our food. Loved his energy! Changing my 4 stars to 5! GREAT JOB! read more

Great experience! I recently used the Bone to cater an event. The management was great, very easy to work with, and the staff was timely and helpful on the day of the event. Most importantly, the food was delicious! We had brisket, chicken, beans, mac n cheese and corn bread muffins. The trays were completely empty by the end of the night. I would definitely recommend the Bone! read more

My favorite BBQ in the DMV. I live in Arlington but it's worth the trip out to Gainesville for their BBQ. Consistently solid BBQ that doesn't even need sauce, but if sauce is your thing, their sauces are amazing as well. read more

Awesome food. The pulled pork sandwich was tender and moist. The ribs were perfectly done and the brisket sandwich had a very generous portion of meat. This place rocks. read more

Decided to give The Bone a try after finding our intended dinner destination had closed! Though sad to see a business fail, I'm glad we stumbled on The Bone. Wait Staff and Management was friendly, attentive and helpful, and the food was Fantastic. Was pleased to find Smoked Turkey on the menu, as I've recently given up beef, and was not disappointed; as one of the managers put it so well, the smoked turkey definitely a "hidden gem" on the menu. And the complimentary cornbread was amazing, which considering I don't LIKE cornbread speaks volumes. My only complaint was that I couldn't find the cornbread on the menu to order more. We will definately be back...only sad it took us so long to find them. read more

Great meal! Good beer selection, fast and friendly service. Worth the visit if you are in the area. Ribs fell off the bone, French fries had a reallly good seasoning. The mac n cheese was a little runny but the cheese melted on top made up for it read more

My husband and I happened upon this place when we were in the area this past weekend, so we decided to try it out. We were skeptical at first because a lot of BBQ places leave A LOT to be desired and aren't that great. BUT The Bone exceeded our expectations. The food was DELICIOUS. We had the pulled chicken, beef brisket, mac and cheese, collard greens, and baked potato. It was all finger lickin' good. And their house BBQ sauce was amazing. We are definitely adding this place to our favorites and plan on going back this coming weekend. read more

This place was seriously disappointing. I love good barbecue, and go to Mission BBQ, Red Hot and Blue, Famous Dave's, and Dixie Bones on a regular basis. I am always looking for a new place to try. I read the reviews and decided to go to out to Gainesville to try this restaurant. The food is awful. When I pulled up the "Open" sign was off, and thought I drove all of that way for nothing. I wish I would have kept driving...I ordered a 2 meat platter, and my daughter had a rib platter. The special was a meatloaf sandwich, but they let me order the meatloaf as a meat for my platter. I absolutely love meatloaf. The other special was cheddar jalapeno sausage, which is one of my favorites. I order it all of the time at Mission BBQ. Me and my daughter ordered mac and cheese and potato salad as sides. The two young kids at the register and front of the house were really sweet and helpful. They were the best part of the visit. We came here when it opened, and there was only one other family inside. For an empty fast casual restaurant, it took a really long time to get our food. I got all of the sauces to try. Their house sauce is ok, but the sweet sauce was horrific, my daughter spit it out. I didn't care for the other 2 sauces much. My meatloaf was definitely not appetizing at all, it was falling apart and looked like cat food. The taste was not good, and the glaze was awful. I tried to cut my sausage, it was partially pre sliced, and had a hard time. The sausage started falling apart and immediately turned into greasy, grisly crumbles. It was absolutely disgusting. I couldn't even swallow the bite that I took. That was the worst sausage I have had anywhere in life period. Sometimes I will heat up a Turkey Kielbasa in the microwave with a quick side for dinner on nights when my family is busy, and the Hillshire Farm is sooo much better. The potato salad did not taste homemade at all. It tasted like prepackaged amish potato salad from any grocery store. It also had a weird flavor combination. The macaroni and cheese was ok, basically a step up from Velveeta shells, and sadly that was the best part of the meal. I did not eat any of the meat and took a few bites of mac and cheese. My daughter ate 2 ribs, and said she didn't like them, but was super hungry. She had a few bites of the mac and cheese, and that was all. I did not get anything to go, and paid $50 for me and my daughter's lunch. I would have been much happier at Chick Fila. There were also flies everywhere that were driving us crazy. The interior is really small and would be uncomfortable when it is busy. Needless to say, I will stick with my regular BBQ spots. This place was definitely not worth a portion of the cost, and was 2 plates of food wasted. I also noticed that a lot of people like their corn bread. We did not get a piece with the platter. For the price, that seems like the very least they could do. read more

Had the meat sampler and baked beans. Everything was okay but nothing grabbed me enough that I'm planning on visiting again. If you are in the area and want some okay BBQ then it's a decent choice but there are too many other places in this area that do it better. read more

ABSOLUTELY THE BEST BBQ I'VE EVER HAD!!! I stopped in for lunch today and the cashier was friendly and knowledgeable. Honestly, I couldn't care less about the staff...no offense. The food is so good it will make you overlook anything negative about the restaurant. I have eaten nearly every meat and side on the menu, and nothing will disappoint you. I have recommended The Bone to many of my friends and family, and they have all loved it. If you're looking for amazing BBQ in the DMV, then The Bone is a must visit. read more

Food is great and it's close to home and convenient to shopping! A bit expensive for BBQ but very good food:)

Food good- ribs and brisket and sauce. A friend loves the wings too. Return to curbside pickup option would mean a lot.

Great BBQ! I am from Georgia and I miss good BBQ. This place hit the spot. A little pricey from down south prices but worth it.

The BBQ was pretty good especially their house BBQ sauce. And their cornbread- omg! The service was on point and the food fast.

I am only giving 4 stars due to me only having a pulled pork sandwich. I love Barbecue dearly. The pulled pork at The Bone is fantastic. I will return for Ribs next!!! read more

Truly, the best smoked wings I've ever had. Brisket and pulled pork are incredible. They have some homemade BBQ sauces and if you like spicy, then the habanero BBQ is the best. Great atmosphere and the staff is friendly and helpful. read more

Big sign at the counter "out of pulled pork" and got a snooty and dirty look from the cashier. I walked out.

Waited a long time for this place to open. I would have to say that they didn't disappoint. The ribs and bbq chicken were great. Service was polite. If you're getting it to go, call ahead. read more

Probably the best barbecue in Gainesville and Manassas area. They also have a great beer selection. Their homemade BBQ sauce is legit.

Not only a personal favorite but they are also a huge supporter of our local schools and Kids. Great atmosphere, everyone is super friendly and you get personal attention from the owners. Food is great, the pulled pork is amazing, you can smell it cooking before you walk in. Great beer selection as well. It gets crowded on the weekends so go early or they make it super easy to order and go. Our go to BBQ place. read more

First time picking up carry-out from "The Bone." As I waited in line to pay (masked), I noticed the two cooks at the grill. The man had a mask below his nose, barely covering his upper lip. The young woman was wearing no mask as she wiped her nose with the back of her hand - then reached into the refrigerator to pull out food. I brought these behaviors to the attention of the Cashier/manager who told me that 'Phase III' of Virginia's reopening plan did not permit them to mandate masks for employees. I corrected him to say that they chose to not mandate either safety or hygiene. I will not subject myself to those health hazards again. One should not be subjected to such risk just to pick up some carry out. read more

Had dinner the other night and really enjoyed it. The hickory burger got thumbs up from the SO who is not a huge fan of BBQ. I had the St. Louis style ribs, which were very meaty and had an interesting take on St. Louis style rub. More importantly, they were even better cold the next day. I could certainly find reasons to criticize the place, and that's especially true for BBQ, which everyone has strong opinions about. It's doubly true around here, which has no particular BBQ style to excel at: any place that does a half-dozen styles from Georgia to Missouri is unlikely to ace all of them, all of the time. And, I could have used a sharper knife for my ribs. But the fundamentals were all there: sweet-potato fries were crispy, collard greens were smokey, cole slaw wasn't drowning in mayo. There was a real pickle with the burger. A real pickle! There was a reasonable beer selection, too. Service was just fine, and really, as long as they don't screw up the order, who cares, it's a BBQ joint. Bottom line: it might not be to your taste or your favorite place, but you're not likely to get "shoe leather" or whatever the complaint was. Unfortunately, it's not shack by the side of the road, it's in a relatively upscale mall in the N.Va suburbs. (You can buy truffles at Wegmans for desert, if you want.) The rent must be killing them. Thus the prices. But have ourselves to blame for letting Reagan-class Disney bots build these places and limit all new business to shopping centers. Your meal includes a charge for the zoning and parking lot and traffic lights, so enjoy them. Seriously, take a half-rack of ribs home and feed 'em to your kids for breakfast. read more

Great atmosphere. Friendly staff. Delicious hot wings. And the honey butter on the cornbread was fantastic!

Once again GOP notch food and service. I had the half rack St Louis ribs and local spicy sausage platter. So delicious. Hard to beat this place for smoked BBQ meats! read more
