Intuit Dome - All net baby

Intuit Dome

(440 reviews)

Visited with my husband to watch a Clippers basketball game and we had an amazing experience. This…read moreis a unique, high tech arena and entertainment venue that offers great views and a very advanced arena-wide audio system. Our seats were pretty nice and comfortable with ample legroom and even some cool, immersive features. I was very impressed with the massive LED halo display. Because of the advanced technology implemented here, basically everything is tied to their LA Clippers + Intuit Dome app. Entry into the arena, purchasing food and merchandise, navigation, booking parking spots, and making payments are all done through the app. This makes the whole experience seamless, but I can see this being a nuisance for those who are not tech-savvy people.

Why 5 stars? Because this was NBA arena #14 for me and is my easy favorite…read more --- --- --- As of this writing, I don't know if I will ever get around to seeing all 30 venues for the other sports, especially because most NBA arenas are essentially a copy/paste of each other. Prior to visiting Intuit Dome, I don't know if I could even tell you that I had a favorite, as there is very little variance between the others I've been to. But now, it's Intuit Dome #1 and a giant gap to whatever #2 is. (I guess San Antonio?) But even in a world where I do visit all 30, I cannot see any of the others surpassing it. Let's get into it. I found a parking spot for $25 on SpotHero that was only a few blocks south of the arena. Coming from the south, it absolutely did not feel like I was about to come upon an NBA arena, as it just kind of felt like an older, somewhat rundown vibe with some auto shops. And then, all of the sudden, there is a giant spaceship where they play basketball. I always like to walk around the entire exterior of a new venue, before doing the same once inside. Note to anyone else interested in doing this: there are basically two main entrances. If you try to keep walking around the building, you eventually just find yourself walking through a neighborhood and it takes a bit to get back to the venue. Hopefully I saved you a trip. Ok, time to get the annoying thing out of the way. I bought my tickets 2-3 weeks before the game, and received approximately 632 emails reminding me to finish setting up my Intuit Dome account, which would be the only way I'd get access to the arena. Every time I tried doing so, I would get either an error message or a note about not being able to complete the task from my location. After like 7-8 failed attempts, I just started ignoring the emails. When I arrived in LA, I tried again, and it worked perfectly. Why you can't do this from another area is bizarre. But once that was done, I will say that the entry is pretty sweet. You literally walk in without even having to show your phone to anyone because they have Face ID technology. It definitely felt like something that will eventually be everywhere, but is way ahead of its time now. And once you're in the door, the first impression is amazing. The main entry area is absurdly tall (several stories) and has the biggest escalator you've ever seen that takes you to the upper level. But before I headed up there, I walked around the lower concourse. And let me tell you, they addressed something that's normally my biggest pet peeve: the concourse is WIDE. Granted, I was here an hour before tip off, but it felt wide enough to not cause a million bottlenecks like you usually experience at these venues. The coolest feature about the concourse are the local high school basketball jerseys that line the walls. Everything else has a nice modern look, but is fairly repetitive. There are plenty of "Pick & Roll" shops that cut down on concession wait times by being quick, self-serve areas. Once I moved to the upstairs concourse, I couldn't resist doing the shooting game, which is free. They have several hoops connected to machines that pass you the ball as soon as your previous shot is done. The only downside is that you have to put a ton of arc on your shot to get it over the netting, and I'm embarrassed to say I only made one shot in 45 seconds. I didn't need to admit that here, but I'm a truth teller. Also, it's really cool that this corner of the upper concourse is open air. When you're in LA and don't have to worry about rain or cold, I guess the rules are just different. Saving the best for last: the halo board. I used to create videos and animations for sports venues, so I was really nerding out hard here. Seeing this reminded me of when I first visited Cowboys Stadium when their massive center hung was new and so much bigger than any other video board. It is SHOCKING how massive this halo board is. Sitting in the upper bowl, you find yourself watching it, rather than looking down at the action on the court. It has so much real estate that they can simultaneously put up the live action video, box scores, a recent play log, sponsor graphics, and 3D player animations after big plays. On replay reviews, they show 4 angles at the same time. It's crazy. But my absolute favorite thing was the intro/open video. When I worked in the industry, this was my favorite thing to make, but also took an extraordinary amount of time/effort. If you don't know what I'm talking about, it's when the lights go out and they play a video right before the starting lineups. This was so much better than any other open I've ever seen that I want to go to another game here just for this. It was like something at The Sphere in Vegas, more than a video at an NBA game. I have more to say, but I've hit my character limit. Best arena in the NBA.

Great Independent single scree theater!…read more Attended a (sold out) screening with a q&a afterwards and had a great time. I will say, if you are attending a popular screening that will be sold out or close to sold out, and you want to buy concessions, it may be best to get there 45-1 hour before. They only have one register and are a small team, I waited in line for a little more than 30 mins and I arrived 30 mins before the screening. The staff are friendly and great! Seats are comfortable for being standard non-recliners. Im looking forward to coming back!

This theater was on my radar since then and on Thursday a friend posted on her story that they were screening Dinner in America with a Q&A with the writer/director and producer and later, Emily Skeggs!! I got a ticket so fast and pushed my concert plans to the side for this. I saw Dinner in America for the first time, last year after the Kanopy app randomly recommended it to me. I watched it and loved this film so much, but when I found out it came out in 2020, I was bummed I'd never get to see it on the big screen. Thanks to Gardena Cinema I was able to see it with a sea of people and not just alone on my phone 29 times. While we were waiting for the film to start, the owner came up to the mic and talked about the history of the theater and how her family came to own it after immigrating to the U.S. in the 70's. Yesterday was the national shutdown strike, but honestly it's hard on small businesses everywhere and I saw so many of these businesses say they were staying open and supporting in one way or another. Judy did the same and gave an impromptu moving talk about what's going on in the world and why it was important to still go on with the screening of this film; because it's punk as fuck! I love this film down BAD because it is exactly that and more. This film is my Heated Rivalry for real. Getting here was easy from the O.C. and parking was a dream!! There's a big parking lot connected to the theater and it's free. I love the multi colored letters of the marquee out front as it really stands out against the background of the city. Inside it's a small lobby then straight into the 1 theater. I was shocked at how far back the seating goes. Other small art house theaters it's not that big inside but here there's so much seating. The seats are small though, like from the 1940's small, but I was able to sit comfortably the whole film. I stayed for the Q&A and was able to ask one question about the soundtrack and release of the Psyops songs and found out it was in the works. Emily Skeggs said hi to me as I was about to ask my question and I was done. After that, I like teared up for some weird reason. It was such a great evening and hearing Judy's story and that this theater is run completely by volunteers was so heartwarming. These theaters are so special to me because they show the cult films and are able to bring out the cast and crew for Q&A which is something you don't get at chain theaters. I genuinely will make an effort to support art house cinemas this year and in particular Gardena Cinema because it is punk AF!

Loud music bumping but it wasn't disturbing. Eventually made it inside. It's very spacious. Another bar located inside. A lot of TVs and chairs. A great hangout spot for drinks and to watch some sports. Great service at the bar. Both bartenders were real cool. And the drinks were about average price for a bar with no happy hour. Paid $33 or $34 including $2 tip for a Cinépolis Old Fashioned and Mango Rita. Couldn't take pics of the room cuz they collected our phones before going inside. However, it's big with a lot of comfortable seats. And it was clean. There was popcorn already placed at every seat for the guest. There could've been better communication regarding the reserved seats. Whereas just about every seat had a sign reading "reserved". Parking is free for the first 3 hrs with validation. There are 2 machines available from what I saw. One near the front desk and entering. Then another near the bar. Parking was free for the first 3 hrs.

I was actually looking forward to going, as it was my anniversary and my partner has never been. The night started off great, but quickly went downhill as soon as we walked in the door. 2 of the ticketing machines were inoperable. But, I was able to figure it out. So, no big deal. Once we got inside the actual theater, the floor was sticky and the entire room didn't seem like it was cleaned that day. There was trash on the floor, my seat didn't fully recline, and much of the leather was pealed off on the seat. On top of that, the restrooms were just as unkempt, my reward for signing up for their membership club was unavailable, and my partner's drink was totally forgotten with the delivery of their food. I tried fixing it by looking on their website, QR code on the tray... something. But, couldn't find a reasonable way to contact anyone without leaving the theater and missing the movie. My partner also brought up a very valid point of the popcorn being served in metal bowls, that might share the same hygiene habits as the floors and seats. To which, I could neither argue nor defend, because at that point anything is possible. Overall, I felt embarrassed for suggesting we go here and always giving rave reviews, as our experience turned out to be terrible. Thankfully I have an understanding partner, or this would totally not be OK.

I remember, vaguely in detail, but clearly in broadness, that I saw an episode of Reading Rainbow…read more In this episode the main character goes to a swap meet and is inspired by a book to view a trip to the swap meet as an opportunity to discover treasure. I did not go with a child's optimism to the Roadium, but I did hope to find oddities to engage my mind, trinkets to admire and imagine about, and in general find something that would be right for me at a bargain price. And the Roadium on a Sunday, provided me the opportunity to find all the previously mentioned items and things, plus it also help me get steps in, in a slow pace, while I absorbed the sun's Vitamin D. I am surprised to say this, like super surprised, but the item that most caught- really arrested- my attention was a picture that centered the country's current sitting president: Trump. In the picture, Trump has his head down, eyes closed, hands and fingers interlocked, and he seems to have a face of meditation, maybe receiving peace and/or knowledge. And behind stand a variety of historical and political powerhouses of the past, like Nixon, Reagan, Washington, Lincoln, and others that I could not recognize to name with confidence. However, all had their eyes closed, and had an aura of tranquility that also carried palpable notes of worry. What struck me the most is that the group, in tense serenity, included men and women of color. It is important to note that I clipped the picture, to give the reader or viewer the opportunity to collect their own thoughts and land their own interpretation. That got heavy. I also clipped a picture of quinceneras. One was dressed in Cinderella blue with a carriage, horse, and carriage handers were in the background, I thought it was A.I. generated but perhaps some people do have quinces like that, in fact I know they do, I used to wacth my Super Sweet Sixteen on MTV. Getting inside the Roadium is hard on a Sunday. But apparently worst on others day because the Roadium has different vendors on different days and each attracts a different type of crowd. For instance, on the firstMonday of the month vendors from the Rose Bowl Flea Market come. Please know that I am recycling information that was provided to me by one of the vendors. Research, please to verify accuracy. However, she also explained that on Mondays, when the Vintage Vendors come, parking becomes nearly imposible to find, even on the street. On this day, it cost 5 dollars, the cashiers only accept cash, The place has trinkets, food, and finds, seriously, it is a cool walk to see, touch, and get lost, if that is something one can do- shop vendors with nothing you want to buy, but still find meaning in the seeing and touching. I had peanuts on this day, but they were special because they were freshly toasted. Like I got a few to try (both extra toasted and not so toasted) and they were still warmed from the machine that toasted them. The touch of a warm shell was enough for me to be impressed but the freshness was key. This vendor explains that sometimes the peanuts in the store are 10 days old, after they were first roasted. Again do research. I saw micro Mexican candy stores with some of the candy that really communicates non-tourist streets of Oaxaca. I also bought three shirts. One was 8, two other ones were three dollars, and I feel like they were honest finds. I took a video of a barbie like doll, not barbie, using a Segway, which I thought was a wink to the modern that made sense yet never seen. I also saw a Spiderman Halloween shirt. And I thought how weird. It was him siting Spidey like, and he was pumpkin orange with bats behind him. It was juvenile because it was Disney product from theri Halloween bash time. So this place does have what was one precious yet never bought. I can see how someone might get something today to use at another day, or simply, be creative and DIY stuff from the stuff they found here.

I used to also sell here when I was younger and helped my mom with her clothing business and that was always a good time. It is very professional and very organized at this swap meet. They keep it well up and clean and very structured throughout the parking. On the weekend Saturday and Sunday is five dollars and during the week is cheaper so I recommend coming during a week if you can. I always come here to get some of my jeans. They have the most cutest, unique jeans that I ever saw. They also have all the stuff you need from plates, Clorox wipes, Lysol, and so much more. The deals here are very good. They also sell a lot of roasted peanuts that's freshly made and they have a lot of good food stands as well. The only thing is that the parking can be a little crazy, but other than that, this is a really good outdoor spot meet and I love to come here to grab some cute things for reasonable deals. It's pretty big and I will maybe be roughly around 10 to 12 aisles full of everything you need. -Marshay D.
