So I saw a screening of ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER at this IMAX headquarters yesterday for the first time. The building was beautifully designed and immaculate. The seats were very plush and comfortable. The screen and sound system were state of the art. The problem was that there were roughly 6 rows of seats that were so close to the screen that it was impossible to enjoy the film. Audience members were actually getting nauseous during various scenes. If you are forced to see a film here, be sure to use the back row, but it still may not be far enough away. read more

I was excited to receive an invite here to see 'Oppenheimer' since I am several months late after everyone else has seen this. I'm glad I waited! Being very unfamiliar with this area, it seems like a rather remote location with a bunch of luxury apartments where most likely the tenants work from home, and the corporate buildings would be something such as google, etc. IMAX seemed to fit right in. Since it was a Saturday, I was a little hesitant since the parking arm was down, and there wasn't a booth. Finally after seeing it open for a delayed time, I drove on in and found a spot out front, although the garage visitor entrance was right in front. After checking in with a human at a table setup, I had to check in on an ipad which takes your photo (which I'm not a fan of) but the security/desk lady was really nice and helpful, directing us where to go. Up a flight of stairs, the theater was to the right, and it was a nice one. I know the middle seats are ideal for this kind of place, but I stayed off to the end as I prefer and it was still easy to view. This was the kind of theater where you can feel the floor shake in certain scenes which added to the experience. Not the fault of this theater by any means, this movie was long, but I'm glad I go to see it on IMAX (and free). Unfortunately, there was zero food/beverage as other people experienced a spread at their screenings; that was not the case here and I was starving and unprepared. Thanks to the desk lady, she gave me a bottle of water so I had something. Never assume! If you get a chance to watch something, go just to say you did. read more

My son took me here for a screening of Wicked:For Good and it was a wonderful experience. The building the theater is in is beautifully maintained & even the restrooms were immaculate. It was my first time here & it was a very enjoyable experience. read more

Went to a screening of Oppenheimer at the IMAX HQ, and had the MAXIMUM amount of fun. The lobby was decorated in an elegant holiday bliss of blues, and definitely brought with it that holiday cheer! The movie itself was immaculate, and though I had seen the film before, it was so intense and other worldly in the IMAX theater. Will definitely be back for another screening. Me and a +1 were invited for the Fast X private screening event this week. The event was chill with music, food and some green screen fun. All of the staff were courteous and friendly. Parking was right next to the IMAX HQ. The lobby was modern and open spaced. Loved viewing the posters on the walls. The screen looked like it was about 3 stories tall. I'm not exactly sure. Thank goodness for popcorn!!! I haven't watched a movie without munchies and was surprised to see those stacked popcorn bags. It was fun to watch with the crowd. Overall the staff did a great job in entertaining and hosting us. read more

For my 1000th review (Finally!) I am dedicating it to the IMAX Corporation Headquarter in Playa Del Rey. It is brand new, 3 story, and have 2 screening rooms, offices, production facilities for moviemakers. I was lucky among a few others that were invited here for an intimate screening. It is a small IMAX theaters that holds about 60-70 people max per screening room. The clarity in sound and the view of the IMAX screen are almost to perfection. Leather seats and lots of leg room. You feel like you're at an IMAX theater, if not even better experience. The office is modern and chic. The heart of the building is there is an interior amphitheater under a skylight. The area is used as the hub of the facility where employees can interact with their clients or with their colleagues during work hours. This area seems to accommodate impromptu gatherings and special events held by the company. Other than occasional screenings, and special events this theater is for viewing purposes for the celebrities, moviemakers, and producers/directors before the final movie goes out in the market. We were told that Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks, and other A-listed industry people have been numerous times for the final viewing of the movie before it goes out to the movie market. read more

This place is awesome. I was one of a lucky few to be invited to watch a screening of Mission In Impossible Rogue nation and I felt really special watching it at this state of the art theater. This is a private screening facility which is used by most movie studios for directors and staff of movie companies to watch at pre screen upcoming movies. The inside has only around 50-60 seats in total so its really a small theater but the movie screen is still really big for such a small audience. The sound system is of course IMAX certified so everything is state of the art and every pin drop in the movie can be heard. The seats are all new and very comfortable so its a real pleasure watching a un released movie first in a IMAX corporate offices private movie theater. I had a great time and I would definitely go back if I am ever invited again for another movie screening. read more

What an amazing experience! This is the actual IMAX corporation, and I was lucky enough to see a screening of a movie in 3D. The screening room seats about 100. The seats are comfortable, with lots of leg room and at the perfect pitch. Even though the room was fairly small, the screen was still basically ceiling to floor. The acoustics and picture quality were, of course, state of the art. Watching an IMAX movie here was actually better than in a conventional movie theater. read more

WOW! Saw the Magnificent 7 here and felt like I was in the movie! The screen was huge/tall and the seats were set up like we were on a steep mountainside. It's also freezing in there so bring a sweater and socks and shoes. I saw the film a few days later at the Imax theater in Ontario Mills and it wasn't the same? I felt like they didn't utilize the whole screen at the Edwards at Ontraio Mills, but great film none-the-less! read more

I recently won a couple tickets from a local radio station and was lucky enough to see the new iron man movie with one guest at The new IMAX facility. The outside is beautiful and they have their own parking structure as well. They had plenty of IMAX employees that were all very friendly The inside of the 66,000 square foot facility was all around a masterpiece. the private theater the screen went from the roof all the way to the floor the movie was amazing IN 3D the employees were amazing and the facility was amazing. I may have had a lot of questions but they had no problem answering all of them. I hope that I am able to win another screening or even a private tour. read more

Everything looks sparkling new! The interior is spacious and well-maintained. The seats are comfy and can recline back. Love this whole shopping/eating center too! It has a modern relaxing feel. My only complaint is that they turned the movie's volume up way too high! It was so loud that all of us were plugging our ears. Several people went to the front to report about the volume, including myself. It was hard to find someone working there to talk to. They finally turned it down after a while. Maybe that was just a fluke, but it really killed the mood in the beginning. read more

This is not a public theater. It's the IMAX headquarters, which has a very nice little screening room with ~60 seats and a floor-to-ceiling screen. Great setup if you ever get the opportunity to watch something here. read more

Was invited to a gofobo screening which got moved last minute to the IMAX headquarter. Got there a few minutes late as we were unfamiliar with the area. Because the theatre was smaller than the original planned theatre location, we got shut out from the screening. I blame both the IMAX and gofobo organizers for not making the appropriate accommodations for the difference of seating from the original to the IMAX location. They should have given enough forewarning and appropriate RSVP allocations well in advance. Not worth being part of gofobo or going to the IMAX headquarters if this is the norm for running their advance screening programs. Yes, the advance screening offerings do have disclaimers in not accommodating everyone, but which a change in venue last minute, their disclaimers are not very reasonable. Better to buy tickets to a movie on my own time than waste the time and energy to try to see an advance screening for free. read more
